I'm super happy with my race today. 3 minute PR!!! My best-ranked split, you ask? T1. Also, I blew my first snot rocket. I remembered to check for unsuspecting cyclists behind me, but forgot to get my shoulder out of the way. Ew. |

I remembered to check for unsuspecting cyclists behind me, but forgot to get my shoulder out of the way. Ew. Congratulations!!! Love the T1, love the snot rocket, ha!! I've learned that my gauge of how tired I am is how well I spit. When I'm really hurtin', my spit don't fly and I always spit on myself (happens frequently on Cougar). If all's well, spit goes where it should. Go figure. And WTG Roni!!! Wyoming: DONE!!! |

I remembered to check for unsuspecting cyclists behind me, but forgot to get my shoulder out of the way. Ew. Your first farmer blow, ever? Really? And here I thought you were one of the more accomplished athletes in the MG! Funny story, at MOO I was coming up behind a guy as he did the same thing....I gave him the "HELLO" and he apologized as I felt the slight spray of his stuff on me. EEEEEWWWW! Great job Roni! I have another friend exactly like you. His time is often irrelevant when he is enjoying the company of others or taking in the scnenery. Like you said earlier this week, you do what you love! Thanks Lindas for being understanding as I harp on the injury thing. I was so tempted to run yesterday and even had my clothes layed out to go. I heard this nagging coach voice reminding me "no SBR for two weeks you need to give your body and mind time". I walked the dog instead. |

Thought I might have broken my toe it hurt pretty good. Limped up the hill, got passed by a bunch more guys. Finished battered, muddy and 20th. Beer was cold after the race again so it was all good : ) |

It really was bugging me (still is). I've spent a lot of time today just reading this, that, and the other about run training. Can't say I have any answers... Some thoughts for myself (like, even though I don't plan to race I need to think about a little structure cuz that's how I roll). And just remember, this is all supposed to be fun!!! Even the crazy cyclocross peeps!!! Steve, you gonna share any of your photos from today??Wanted: Running Coach RR is up...... |

Expert 1038 Noosa | Subject: RE: SWBKRUN fast, furious, and closed I think Dino's race was great, nice to be in a position to worry about getting faster that 25mins for a triathlon 5k! I'm plodding along with my running recovery and seem to be doing ok but had a chat with a woman who's a good solid runner (marathon's in 3:48 etc), she suggested that I need to step it up a bit, maybe do very short easy runs on my rest days. I'm anxious to avoid flaring up my knees with my first tri of the season 5 weeks away but I have to admit my knees seem to be worse when I sit at my desk all day and better after a run (classic patellofemoral pain I suppose). I'm holding back because of the recent injury but maybe I'm being too cautious now??? |

Elite 3395 Raleigh | Subject: RE: SWBKRUN fast, furious, and closed My race report is up, but my work computer will not let me post a link. Here are my additional notes from my trip. I made it home from NY. I have to say that I do not think President Obama's plan to create jobs by fixing the roads and bridges will work. It seems like they are already fixing every road between NC and Long Island! The only place without an orange cone is my driveway! Between the rain, the repairs and the roads, going up took almost 12 hours! I had a great time seeing my oldest and best friend. We have known each other 41 years now. Just wish the visit was longer. For you Massachusetts members, there is a Herrell's Ice Cream store in Huntington Long Island (started by Steve Herrell of Steve's Ice Cream fame!) I grew up in Huntington Station so it is always good to visit. However, it is really weird to mix that culture and the New York accent with triathlon. "You got yah wada?" Three ladies in transition are talking and one says "Where's your Joe?" the next woman replies "He was here a second ago, wheres your Joe?" "He's in da car" and she turns to the third woman"Wheres your Joe?" The some other lady screams out "Hey BOBBY?!" It was like Real Housewives of New York meets Jersey Shore. The women not racing were a trip. Lots were wearing earrings the size of satellite dishes. One woman was in her 60's and dressed like a 20 year old. She did not pull the look off. Her over-tanned, wrinkled midrift with some weird navel peircing jewelry looked really odd. That added to her badly dyed blond hair and giant hoola-hoop earrings made me sure she had never heard the phrase "aging gracefully." At least her low riding pants did not say "Juicy on the back! Yeah I would have made for some good pictures I think. All our races were bone dry last year and the first two of this season have been wet and slick. There were some good pictures from this race this weekend, someone stuck dollar bills in the barrier holders and people were jumping barriers and grabbing the bills at the same time. Also quite a few stumbles and falls caught on film. Please do post your pictures the last ones were great! |

I'm holding back because of the recent injury but maybe I'm being too cautious now??? David--If your friends advice was given to make you faster, maybe, but does she have a clue about your past injury? Personally, if it doesn't heal shortly I would see someone about it. You may have a form or structural issue that can be remedied. Jayne--running the whole race isn't baby steps, ITS RUNNING and that is a terrific move in the right direction. CELEBRATE BIG! Cyclocross is nuts! I can say with absolute certainty based on how big of a clod I am I would never participate in this sport. I'm pretty sure I would be in the hospital within the first few miles of the bike. More power to those that can embrace it. I had my own personal celebration today. I got to run after being off for my manadatory two week post IM hiatus. With 20mph+ winds and torrential downpours it's about the happiest I've been since IM. Other big news is we signed final paperwork and handed over the keys to the new owners who were really terrific people and so excited to move her from Boston......progress on so many fronts! |
