Congratulations to all you racers! Kim, Suzy, Rob... oh and Birdy too (5th in AG with a 2:30 Oly at Chelanman) Like everyone else, can't wait for the RRs!

Mark, excellent job on knocking out a 100 miler! Huge accomplishment! Make sure you give yourself a good recovery: hopefully you had some quality carbs and protein afterward to repair your muscles, and then maybe plan on a VERY light spin tomorrow to help flush out your legs.

SSMinnow - 2010-07-18 7:08 PM Just a short hello from a very tired, very sun burned and very dehydrated Suzy Shain.....the storm luckily stayed away, but the heat did not..dealt with 100+F heat indices on the bike and run.  Swim was actually cold, a little less chop than Lonestar.  Just like Kim, my swim time was shorter than stated, 46:39...the rest was due to my #1 mistake of the day, trying to take my wetsuit off in the water.  It got stuck and I had to sit on the beach to get it off...totally covered in sand getting on the bike.  John already gave me crap for my T1, but that included a 1/4m run up the sand beach and boardwalk to get to transition.....bike went as planned and I finally delivered the 85% FTP ride I was looking for.  The run was a total sufferfest.  My plan was always to walk through the water stops, but while the run was a Z3 RPE effort the pace was NOT!  Not disappointed at all...the execution is what i needed it to be for IM.  I did pick up the pace the last couple of miles on the run and was able to deliver my triple puke right after the finish line....three medics rushed over to make sure I was ok and then one of them high fived me afterwards....I questioned his sanity since I used that hand to wipe my mouth.  All in all, a great learning experience.

PS Sorry for the run on paragraph.  RR will get up later tomorrow.

PPS Nice job TWIN and Rob!  Success all around.

Triple puke? That is awesome...... were they back-to-back-to-back chucks or was there time in between?
You rock girl.

NOW I'll say Mark should have a beer!! Awesome carbs! Congratulations, Mark. A century ride is no small feat.

Congrats to Birdy on the AG placement! He told me he was a 2:30 and sounded not happy about it. (harumph) Funny, I think on Friday he said he expected to do about a 2:30. Nothing like knowing your body, eh?

Ryan, how are you healing and how are you feeling???

That is awesome. LOVE the high five!

Congratulations on a job well done to Suzy, Kim, Rob, and Birdy! Mark, I am so impressed that you just went out and did a century. Lots of inspiration to be had around here!

I had a good race yesterday, and you can read about it if you'd like right here!

Ok I am refreshed and a little less sore. The 100 mile ride was crazy, We were 36 miles in to doing a 75 and I felt great so I said lets push it. We stopped at mile 50 to refuel and I was regretting it then. My legs were shot and I was dog tired. But there is no way back but on the bike so...I had to ride. Up until this one my biggest ride was 50 miles and considering I just started in the middle of April when I got this bike I thought I was over my head for sure. I went through so much gu, gatorade, water and cliff bars that I almost emptied my whole stash. I was able to stay hydrated and I think the last 15 - 20 miles we kept an 18mph pace. At that point I was in a different world. I have parts of my body hurting that I did not know could hurt. OVerall I feel awesome that I did it, all the people I know think I am crazy which makes it that much more enjoyable.

Grats to all the racers this weekend.

I think my guitar amp sold, so I need to buy a couple things for the bike I think. I want to get a good jersey, aero bars, gloves. I may get some bib shorts if they are on special as well. I wear a xxl for tshirts, should i stick w/ this for a bike jersey?

In my world, you need one good bike jersey with the little pockets on the back for long rides.  Other than that, I use tech tees from races - no cotton!  Just get the ones for running - try to find them that are little longer in the body so that you don't burn a strip across your belt line/bottom of your back when riding in them...  There are lots of brands - Nike, UA, Brooks, etc....

I was thinking of the jersey for the longer rides, I have a bunch of UA shirts that I wear a lot as well. I definately need gloves, my hands are pretty sore after yesterday.

Gloves are cheap - some of the bike guys can weigh in here, but I took some of my old handle bar tape and wrapped the top bar and then covered the wrap with some electrical tape and then wrapped the bars with new tape.  I had been using a gel pad under the tape, but it broke up too much and slid around some.  Jury is still out as I saw my top tape slipped some on my 35mi ride this week end...  I may need something with a little more grip over the padding wrap instead of slick electrical tape...

Anyway, long story short, I don't seem to need gloves when I have the extra padding on the handle bars..

Thanks.... AG Placement--- Yes this would have happened just finishing.  Not sure how many people in AG, but I guess the way I look at it is how I did personally against my ability.  Swim- 2 minutes slower than normal.... Bike was great, and run was 6 + minutes slower than normal....Given the fact I have another hernia I knew going into it that the run was going to be slower so I just "got through it" with what felt comfortable....

Funny story of the weekend-  Leaving T2 you have to run up a little hill and at the top was the family/friends cheering squad!!  I got up there and stopped to kiss Kim's belly.... Everyone was ohhhing and ahhhing..... Ryan to turns Kim and says out loud "Honey who was that guy?"

That is an awesome story, I did something similar to my wife. We were at the store in separate cars and I snuck my ring off. At this time my daughter was in a car seat and probably like 6 months old. A large group of people were walking by so I gave her a big kiss grabbed her butt and then said "Tell you husband I said hi". The reactions were awesome lol and forunately I did not get slapped

Wow...awesome job on the century.  This is my second year in and I think my longest ride is like 43 miles so that is a great achievement in 3 months!  Congrats.
