tahrens - 2010-07-22 9:10 AM It's 10:09am, I've already had a bowl of oatmeal, a peach and my morning tea, and guess what?  I'M HUNGRY AGAIN!!!!!!

Where's the protein in that meal????? stave off hunger by including it!!!!

Tracy, I totally agree!

I have been using one scoop of whey protein in my oatmeal...it's supposed to be 17g of protein which really staves off the hunger and gives you lots of energy until your next meal.   It's supposed to be tasteless, but the one I got has a sort of vanilla flavor which is great!  I shake it up with a little rice dream first so it doesn't chunk up in the hot oatmeal, but highly recommend it especially before long workouts.  (which reminds me, i forgot to bring it with me for my pre-race breakfast, and was bummed)

Kim

I like that idea.  I have a big jug of vanilla whey protein at home that I've stopped since I started Hammer Recoverite.  I've been toying with the idea of bringing it, and a gallon of milk, into work.    Thanks.

Label says 1 scoop = 120 calories? Looks yummy, though!

One of my new fave high-protein snacks is Trader Joes' Greek Vanilla fat-free yogurt. Soooooo delish. It's like eating dessert. A few spoonfuls fills me up for awhile!

Suzy- that does sound delicious!!! Can't wait to run out of my big tub of whey so I can order that next time.

And X2 on the Trader Joes Greek yogurt...so good with blueberries on top of pancakes!!!

Oh and for snacks at work, just got back from Whole Paycheck and have a package of Fig Newmans.  Love them.

So we went for a long swim tonight. Got lost and ended up with a 3.5 K swim. I know you ask how do you get lost in a lake in Guelph Ontario. Well you just swim right past the turn around point and keep going. We ended up circling where we were supposed to go(thought it was and island but wasn't and ended up having to walk over a small road and back into the lake and then swim the last 1k back to our start point. Long swim, everyone liked it in the end but I don't think they will let me lead again next week.

Sorry for lack of posting here...it's been absolutely CRAZY this week.  I was volunteering at World Deaf Nation Expo (over 15,000 people).  All my free time was taken by the expo, training, and school.

Today, I got to work as crowd control for Marlee Matlin signing.  The coolest thing was, I didn't have a camera or anything, so I asked her if she could sign my shirt and she was more than happy to do that. It was the second time I met her, so that was cool.

Other than that...I've learned a lot about being patient quickly because of all the strange requests and many different questions etc etc. What a PIA - AND on top of that, some of the deaf people are from different countries so I had to sign differently or use a different "slang" language in hopes to communicate with them.

It was definitely an interesting experience, and pretty tricky to do with my tri training!

Training question:

My next tri is Bridgeland on August 8.  The plan I am on now has a recovery week next week, then a full week with increased volume the week before the tri.  I am trying to decide if I should just follow the plan as is or should I switch the weeks around so the recovery week would be the week for the tri so to treat it like a taper week.

It is a sprint tri.  I am looking at it as more of a 'training' race since my real focus is to be ready for the Houston tri which is an Oly in late September.  So, I am thinking I will just follow the plan as is.

Anyone have an opinion or advice either way?

Unless the full week with increased volume is something way beyond what you are used to and considering that you are approaching the race as a training race, I would stick to the plan.

That is interesting. I had no idea that different countries had different 'languages' for signing. I guess I assumed that sign-language was universal.

Um Rob, SERIOUSLY?!?!?!   So the idea of doing an about face didn't occur to you?   I guess I should expect this coming from the man who fell off a stationary bike at the gym.

On a personal note I must say I am rocking my look this morning.  I was a good little triathlete and ran 6.5 miles this morning and have a heavy training weekend ahead of me so I am trying to recover well.  I am sitting at my desk in a pretty little sun skirt with my cowboy boots on and my white compression socks showing about 4 inches above the boots!  I AM ONE HOT MOMMA!!

awesome story rob.  potential clients for your new business... lie and say it was the plan all along.  pat em' on the back and say great job.

glen i agree with george. i'd also take a look at what you have the day or two following bridgelands.  if you have a big workout planned then i'd try and switch it with a lighter workout later in the week.

good stuff doug.  hopefully i'll get the rundown next week. then have him run me into the ground on the chattahoochee trail.  unless he claims to be "busy" with his girlfriend.

Blind side him, call him and tell him you are a potential customer. Then have him meet you somewhere near where you want to run and then make him go with you. You don't think he'll see this post do you?
