HEY!  It's time to talk about the weekend!  Who's racing? who's traveling to watch a race?

If you're not racing, have you picked your A race for '12? which one?

Nothing this weekend.  As far as 2012, if I don't get pregnant, I think I am going to shoot for a 50 miler in October.

Wow, that is pretty strong incentive to "conceive"!!!  Good luck, Rachel!

I know right?  I am just not sure if I want another kid.  Things are going so well with what we have.  On the other hand, nobody ever regrets having a child.  I don't know.  I am so torn which is very unlike me.  I usually jump into everything with no hesitation.  (Sorry for the ramble.)

I AM!!!!!   I'm racing all over PCB on Saturday throwing empty beer cans at Barry, Chris & Tobey.  Then I'm racing over to the chute to catch people for a few hours.  Then I'm racing racing around the finish area throwing more empties.

THEN...... I"M RACING BACK TO THE CONDO TO HIT ON THE KIDS NANNY!!!!!!  i'll be havin' fun.  ;-)

GOOD LUCK RACING PEEPS!!!!  TRAVEL SAFE!!!!   i'm not too excited or anything.

I get it!  I wonder if anyone else does....I hope at least one other person can read between the lines!

Uh, this MG is filled with pervs...  I think we all get it...

Yeah, I'm pretty sure even I got this one.  Now if I could just figure out what y'all mean by "terped it"

No racing for me; it's hunting season!  I do plan on running a 5K sometime during the holidays, though.  Hoping to build to a HM next November as my A race.

Good luck to everyone racing this weekend!  I'll be tracking you by phone from my deer stand.

No races for me this weekend.  Next target is an HM on Nov 27.   I decided that my A race will be an HIM at the beginning of Sept.   I will also do at least two Olys.  I'm going to hold off on the IM distance until 2013.

Now, what is all this stuff about terping?

Good luck to all of our racers!  Have fun and stay safe or run hard and leave it all out there.  :-)

No racing for me but a busy weekend.  Saturday doing a bake sale to raise $ for a local food bank then a soccer game.  Sunday I'm volunteering at the cross race to handle the Lil' Beligums racers.  Starting my taper off w/ a chest cold so trying to get rid of the gunk and cough.

As far as next year, not sure right now.  I did sign up for the Miami marathon to give Boston another shot.  Now I just need to figure out a good plan.  I'll hit the group up soon about that.  I need to decide what kind of challenge I want out of next year then I will know what my A race will be.

Not sure yet for next year but looking to go short and fast for the year; lots of sprints and olympics.  Training for an Ironman makes you strong but slow.  I'm ready for short bursts of pain vs long suffer fests.   However I am debating ending the year with the Marine Corp Marathon to test the accumulation of speed.  Also now that I've covered 26.2 I'd like to prove I can do it in less that 6+ hours.   Darn ego.

Nada for me. Leaving town in the morning to ditch the fam for the weekend and spend a couple of nights away with the girls. We have wine-tasting plans on Saturday. I have runs planned both days. And then I plan to do a whole lotta nothing, game-playing, talking, sitting, knitting, reading, sleeping, laughing, crying (probably some, ha!), drinking coffee, and yeah, well, it'll be nice.

Good luck to the racers, especially the Ironmen!! You are brave souls who are ready to take on all that the day has to offer. Enjoy, embrace, and keep smiling.

If you want to see the source of the 4 things strategy, check out californiatraining.blogspot.com and read Beth Walsh's May 20, 2011 post. (Here is the specific paragraph: "If there are bumps in the road, I can adapt and still have a great day.. (side note- it is my belief that you can COUNT ON having 4 things go "wrong" in Ironman. Each time something goes wrong on the day, say to yourself, "Ok, this is #1. Deal with #1. Adapt. #1 is out of the way. On to #2!" Just count on 4 things as PART of your race day plan. You check them off like swim, bike, run. And hey, if you reach the finish line and had just 3 things go wrong? Winning!)." (I love her blog -- she is an amazing athlete and fun to follow.)

Have a great weekend, everybody! If there is wifi I will check in. If not, I'll be out of the loop but that's good too.

ironman made you slow?   quite the opposite here.  20 minutes off my oly and on a much more difficult course.  5k pr, again on a more difficult course.  but most importantly,  a much faster recovery period.   ironman made my ironman slow.  that's true for me!

less than 6 hours, no.  less than 5 hours.

Hi Parents!

Please join us next Friday the 11th of November for the 1st Grades' Annual Nutrition Program.  It will be held in the cafeteria at 8:15 A.M.

We will be having a short reception in our classroom following the program featuring healthy snacks from the 4/5 food groups.

It is not necessary to RSVP.

If you would like to volunteer to donate one kind of snack which we will be featuring at our reception, that would be awesome!

You can send them in next Thursday the 10th, except for the nuggets which will have to come warm. Please bring them on a serving plate.

4 bags of cheese cubes - dairy group

3 boxes of crackers - breads and grains group

baby carrots and celery sticks - vegetable group

1 bottle Ranch dressing

apples and grapes - fruit group

chicken nuggets - meat group

2 large bottles of apple juice

small cups

small plates

napkins

We will need enough for all the children and the parents to have a small munch. This will be our mini Thanksgiving feast.

*You do not have to volunteer to bring all of something. Just indicate you are bringing 1 box or 1 bag or 1 bottle of an item. Sharing the donations makes it so much more affordable. Please reply all so we know what is left to bring. I will email you the final list.

Thanks as always for all you do!

I have not done a workout since I finished my Half on saturday. I am waiting until all my skin abrasions are healed. No matter what I will be back at it next week.

In the meantime, I have been back in my woodshop. I am working on a gift for my firend and coach for his 40th birthday. It is triathlon related. I hope to finish it no later than saturday as I have to give it to him that night. I'll take pics and post here when it is done. (And it is not a pen).

I swear schools are falling in the crapper!  Another mom and I were talking at our kids Halloween celebration as the 2nd graders were given apples, pretzels and celery sticks as their treats.  They all looked at the plates likes what is this sh*t!!!!

Arlington is on big health food kick which I think is fine and I know kids (and adults) are getting plumper by the minute w/ so much junk and processed food but I think society is missing the big picture.  How about stop cutting out PE and recess?  Hummmm!!!  Let our kids run around and exercise.  We were just shaking our heads.

And John I like Linda's idea - caffeinated gels should hit the spot.  :-

Oh and while I am b*tching - did you all see how McDonalds f*cked up the Happy Meal.  SO my kids would get 4 piece nuggets, apples (no caramel) and milk.  Not a bad fast food meal.  Well I guess some genius thought parents could not make an intelligent decision on their own or stand up to their kids so now they put both fries and apples in the meal.  No choice!!!  This way kids get some healthy!!  OMG!!!!!

Granted it is a mini pack of fries but it's almost like giving a kid one cigarette to get them hooked.  ERRRRR!!!!!!

Just ran into John at IM FL. Had a great talk. Really nice to finally meet him in person. For those who haven't met him in person, he is just the same as he is in the MG -- a really good guy with a wicked sense of humor. Looking forward to seeing him tomorrow (I hope, assuming my day goes very well and I get to the chute by 14 hours, when his shift ends).
