She better be out on a century to leave us hanging like that! Uhm, excuse me, but JOHN was going to post the question for me since I live in timbuktu part of the time, my satellite internet was down and I was heading out to run in tornadic conditions. I guess you can't rely on all men or at least one man in this forum to do a woman's job.....so WHO THE HECK IS RACING THIS WEEKEND??? And why have you waited all day to tell us about it???? Details people. and for the rest of the MG creatures out there, how many of you have already detailed next year's race schedule? if you haven't given it a thought...when will you???? |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() fattyfatfat - 2010-08-11 9:57 AM Reno8 - 2010-08-11 8:52 AM ********WARNING******** glens suggestion is a good one. 53 feet per mile. even running right next to someone, i'd think this is is a very acceptable deviation. looking at your logs, your runs are on the hootch. if i remember right, reception is going to be spotty in places there. actually, for most of the run accept on the backside through the field. again 53 feet is pretty good. how are you comparing the bike computer and 305? if you're riding and running then don't count on them being the same. for sh+ts try this....next time you run with your partner, wear both of them on the time wrist and see whatcha get. but man, 53 feet! in a few weeks we're gonna be throwing our empties father than that!!! and sorry to split hairs here, that whole geograPHY thing right, ha!, but your distance is not ahead of her. its more than her. so like when you we to take a leak over there stop saying you went ahead of her! HA! hope all went well at emory and for your friend!!!! Jumping in late here... but when I run with friends we often find our distances are off .2+ (that's tenths, not one-hundredths!!) for a 7-mile-ish run. We decide that we end up running tangents differently, or one ran on inside corners and one on outside, or whatever. Like John's idea of wearing both on one wrist -- that will give you your true data points! AND!!! Should you ever wear your Garmin in a race, remember that races are measured by the tightest tangents and that it is next to impossible to run a true course. Forgedaboutit if you veer off for water!! My Portland marathon last year ended up being 26.5 or something on my Garmin, in spite of my efforts to run all tangents tightly. At the time, it was the worst of mental mind-#$(#$... Now I know better and won't let it hang me up. |

Doing a local 5K race on Saturday... in an effort to have an all-out TT to gather pacing data for marathon training. So, just doing a warm-up and then balls-out for 3.1 (or a wee bit more per the Garmin!), then a warm-down. And working on the Big Picture for next year... Wheels are turning, but the money has not been thrown down anywhere yet. |

I have the Dairyland Dare this weekend which is technically a bike event not a race. Plan is to do the 150K which is 10,000ft of climbing (oh joy) and follow that up with a 1:30 run on the same course (whoppie!). Sunday is 2.4m Dairyland Swim on the IM course. Again not a race, an event. Goal is to figure out where to seed myself and pace out like IM on the second loop. I am tiring of all these organized events and this may be my last set before IM. I have two on the calendar next week, but thinking heading to Minocqua for a little mental break might be my best strategy. As far as '11 races go, I am still looking for an early season HIM to kick start the season (if anyone has ideas pitch them my way). Really on the fence on whether I will do Boston again or let Kim carry the torch with the other BQ'ers. Focus has really shifted to triathlon and I like the varied training a lot more than I ever thought possible. Pretty sure I will stick to roughly the same race calendar as last year, including MOO. |

Details people. and for the rest of the MG creatures out there, how many of you have already detailed next year's race schedule? if you haven't given it a thought...when will you???? I've already thought a little bit about next year's Tri's. Showdown at Sundown (Sprint), Rage Triathlon (Oly or Sprint), IronGirl (a MUST!), Lake Las Vegas Tri, Las Vegas Tri, and Pumpkinman. All are in Vegas. I don't know if I'll do another Half-Mary, and I don't think I will do a HIM. If so, it would be Silverman. There may be a SMALL chance that I will go out of town Tri. I don't know yet. Plus, all of this is relying on my school schedule, training time, and money. I'm graduating with a BS (about time too!), so the workload is going to be a bit intense. Can't afford any MG Triathlons, unless if you guys are close by like California, AZ or Utah. |

If that doesn't work out then maybe it's time to avenge 2009's puke-fest and return to Augusta for the HIM. Sprinkle in a couple of sprints and a fall marathon or half and that about does it for me. This coming winter is about building a MAJOR base in all 3 sports after Disney and then see where that allows me to go....Wherever it is it will be s l o w but it will be fun!!! |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() No race this weekend. Daughter is 21 - TODAY! We're renting a limo on Saturday and going up to SF to have dinner and see a show. Probably some alcohol involved.....doesn't mesh to well with racing. I have signed up for my rest of this year: Pacific Grove 10k - 9/4 Santa Cruz Oly -9/26 Silicon Valley Marathon - 10/31 So......I'm trying for a Boston Q again. If I get it, I'll be racing in Boston. If not, I'll be spectating hubby - and the rest of the MG! Wildflower seems to be a tradition, so probably that in May. IMAZ in November, 2011 Done nothing for the last few days - fighting off a bladder/kidney infection. Hate the drugs, ugh. Edited by velcromom 2010-08-11 7:39 PM |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() No racing for me this weekend. Good luck to all the racers! Represent! 2011 race schedule is still fluid for me and will stay that way for quite a while. I would love to do IMOO, but have decided that I don't have the training time to do it they way I want unless I can unload some of my rental property. Having a full time job, a family, and rentals is tough on training time in the Summer. So unless the rental property situation changes soon, what a great market that is currently, my preliminary plans are a 1/2 mary in January, Early bird sprint in March, A couple of Olys spread through the summer, Ironman 70.3 Racine in July, running race here or there, and thats as far as I have gotten. ![]() Dino |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() No racing for me this weekend, but I have a century coming up at the end of the month so I plan on a long ride on Saturday (hopefully 60-70 miles) I still have several sprints, an oly, a century, and a half marathon to go this year, so next year is little unplanned as of yet. I do plan on going back to the Gateway Oly in April in Kemah, several sprints that are repeat events from the this year and last year. Probably will try to do the US Open Oly at end of season again. My coach and I are talking around a HIM next year sometime, but have not decided where or when yet - it might be a destination race. Hoping for at least one MG race next year... |
