Don't let him get to you!!! Be the tough warrior and dish it right back at him!

So a friend of mine is sending out daily inspirational quotes to those of us doing IM...I particularly liked this one:

"What we have is based upon moment-to-moment choices of what we do.In each of those moments, we choose. We either take a risk and move toward what we want, or we play it safe and choose comfort. Most of the people, most of the time, choose comfort. In the end, people either have excuses or experiences; reasons or results; buts or brilliance. They either have what they wanted or they have a detailed list of all the rational reasons why not."~ Anonymous

I like this quote!

I had a GREAT day.  35 mile bike ride with my great friend who has agreed to do IMAZ 2011 with me!  She's faster than I am, and will really motivate me.  Then we went to lunch, had a massage and participated in some retail therapy.  Went to lululemon for the first time!! Just opened a 1997 Beringer Private Reserve. 21 year old's hangover is better, 17 year old is seeping leaves, other two are backpacking.  Life is good.

I do love the pool there especially wonderful because I can use the weight room and any classes they offer. Okay, i will go for the Masters team there. I do have a few acquaintances there who have been urging me to join. I was so reluctant because I feel so lame for not being able to do breaststroke or fly. Thanks for the tip. Go Giants! So I did a brick worlout last night, including a 90 minute bike ride (on the CT completing 30.45 miles) and then ran twenty minutes. I ran 2.46 miles and felt great. It was wierd. My running has been carp all year, but when I do late night bricks they seem to be really good (for me). Why can't it be like this during a race?

You need to find a race that starts at 8:00 pm, not 8:00 am.  The "Night Owl Tri"  or something like that.

Its probably all those Mens league hockey games that start at 1:00 am that have your work out endorphins, etc. all messed up.

Tracy ~ I agree with the others...pets are totally part of the family. Just before we moved we had to put our cat to sleep and we had him for 16 years as well (although you may never know how long he will fight ) My thoughts are with you!! I am thrilled to say that we just picked up a 2 month old male tabby on Monday and he is absolutely ADORABLE and really, really good with my 2 1/2 year old!!

Suzy ~ That is a GREAT quote...thanks for sharing!!

Tony ~ I've never seen that commercial before but I have to agree that it may be cheesy but it really struck a cord with me!

Dave ~ I agree, that turkey comment is hilarious!!

All you that are racing, good luck and have fun!! I'm thinking we will be taking Sammi "fishing" again this weekend since it is supposed to be so nice! Here is the pic from last (and her first) time with Daddy...

Michelle--LOVE THE PHOTO! priceless really.

Tracy--totally feel for you on your kitty situation.  Lost my dog Newton several years ago and I know how hard it is to watch a pet decline.  Hang tough.

I had a good time watching the commercials and I have to agree the butterfly guy is a whack job!  LOVED the Versus commercial...the number of times they inserted their brand name with "It's you vs....is really clever! Of course, Im a marketer

Doug--circadian rhythms play a big role in when we should exercise.  I'm an early bird so doing those 7pm aquathons kills me. If life permits maybe you try to do some of your training late to get the benefit and then introduce early sessions as races draw near???

Been kind of distracted lately so lost track of exactly who is racing this weekend, but as Dineen always says REPRESENT!!

I've taken a lof of good advice from the group on the saddle situation and hope I have covered my basis.  Going in with my bike to test several on Monday afternoon at the place that salavaged my RU and ordered a Cobb V Plus to throw in the mix.  I need to grin and bear it tomorrow on breakthrough workouts #3!!!!  Time to show my steely resolve!

Enjoy the weekend Peeps!

This is for Tracy and the other MG members.

I went to my vet today to talk about the situation with Keno. She's declining quickly, and she is also on borrowed time. She has lost so much weight and her blood count is extremely low (even to the point where the vet is shocked to see a cat alive with such a low PCV).  We stopped the EPO therapy today as it is not working (which was kind of expected).  The only thing we could do is make her comfortable for the weekend, then it will be time for her to travel the Rainbow Bridge.  We both are in the same boat this week. :-(

Also on Las Vegas front - one member from my biking club was killed last week while cycling - the driver was drunk, and it was a hit and run accident.   The driver's lawyers got his bail lowered from 100k to 50k, is on a house arrest and not allowed to drive or drink.  That's it. WTF?!

THEN - Today - a teenager bicyclist was hit badly by another drunk driver. The driver ran off, but police caught him. Teen is in the hospital in critical condition, but will live.

Lastly - a cyclist friend was clipped by an 18 wheeler while inflating his tires. Lost his front wheel, but he's fine. If he was riding the bike, he would have been killed.   My friend was WAY over to the right in the dirt shoulder, and is wondering why the truck driver just kept on going as well as the car behind him kept going.  He didn't understand how could no one stop to check?!

What's WRONG with these drivers?!

*siiiiiigh*

The only good news is that I'm finally healed from my cold, and will go for a nice brick tomorrow.

Hey DJ...do sorry to hear about your cat.  I know times like this are really difficult for those of us that love animals.

I read something about the team-member that was killed in Vegas...so sory for the loss of your friend.....and wishing a speedy recovery for the others...but most importantly swift and strong justice for the people that caused the incidents.

Have a great brick tomorrow....and a NOT-SO NICE THANK YOU for sending your cold my way...not much gonna happen around here this weekend.

Trying to think of something good, most of the ones I was thinking about are obscene.

Don't know if you have tried doing a search of the threads in the main forum but there are a couple of threads there that speak directly to this....I tried to do the search and it wouldn't display for some reason

There were some real good posts there that should give you some great ideas.

Did my little 5k torture-fest today.

Race Report

Honestly this was miserable for me. I totally went into it with the mental attitude of "You can push for a bit more than 20 minutes. Hang on. It's finite. Be tough. Be strong. Run fast. Run hard." After about 1 mile I was done and spent the next 1.5 coming up with reasons to stop, LOL! I haven't done any speed work and that hurt me physically, and probably mentally as well. This was all about gathering data for future tempo runs and speed work, so it is what it is. And thank goodness it's DONE!!

Time was 24:03 (I was hoping for sub-24... pissed that I could not pull 3 seconds out of somewhere, but really, I don't feel that I could have!). Miles were 7:24,7:45,8:15. Clearly I choked at the end. Glad it's done!!!
