4agoodlife - 2013-04-10 3:01 AM ahhh... gotta love shuffle on the iPod. Rihanna, Nickelback, Survivor

I ran with music at a race for the first time on Sunday. Just before the starting 'gun' the music changed from AC/DC to Micheal Buble's Christmas Album. Took the edge of my adrenaline rush a little.

bwahahaha! So it makes sense to you that Little Drummer Boy and Silent Night came on right after Eye of the Tiger.... good thing I was just taking a shower and not running my next race. :P

Are you saying Michael Buble is not hard core?  With pipes like that?

I am trying hard not to put up a mental image in case we are talking about different pipes.

You're trying to fight it? I'm surprised.

I'm still working on my race report should be up today. It's probably way too detailed but it's my first HIM so I want to detail everything for my records.

Considering a 1/2 marathon for autism this saturday. I ran this morning and felt great. Too much too soon? I don't really have the base for a 1/2 marathon and don't want to risk injury but could be a nice endurance run for good cause.

My cautious nature says go easy, but others will go all Hal and Manatee and tell you to "HTFU and Doooo Eeeeet!" haha! If you're not so competitive that you'll push yourself on this HM when slow jog or walking is needed, then support a good cause.

bcraht - 2013-04-09 9:03 PM Ok, if you have a weak stomach, you may not want to look at this.  But I am a nerd and think this is so cool--I've seen a lot of endoscopies, but none on a rescued harbour porpoise.

You are gross.

BTW, thanks for your tag line which helped keep me going on my run at the weekend.

You are welcome, on both counts.

Ha, shows what you know, I think a HM on the heels of the HIM and just getting over injury is probably not a DOO EEEET or Hal says its ok situation.

on a different note, just finished with the eye dr where I had my eyes dilated. I still can't see so I take no responsibility for typos or responses that may have nothing to do with the OP

Whaaaaat? Embracing care and caution? lol. You know this is your chance to unload all those things you really want to say normally but don't have the eye dr to blame. Wait. No, this is the manatees thread. Silly me. WE ARE SUPPOSED TO DO THAT ALREADY!

I confess that my first response to the question of whether to run the HM was, "sure, why not?"

You're such a little tart

A purple tart froggy!

I did not train Michael Buble's dog. Therefore, he is not hard core.

I'm surprised that you are even asking this question considering your recent IT band issues.  Running this event probably falls into the "inviting injury" category of training.  This does not even go into the fact that you are supposed to be recovering at this time.

Asalzwed - 2013-04-09 8:58 PM Gah...New York. I could live here. Yup.

Really?

I hate the East Coast.  Ok - Hate is probably to strong of a word, but I could never live anywhere on the East Coast.  Visit - sure...live, no way.  (The Navy put me on the East coast for 4 years)

I have met many an East Coast transplant that love it here, but when I lived there, I rarely met someone from the West coast that didn't want to go home.

Ehhh so I'd generally agree. I couldn't live most places on the East Coast but NYC is an exception. I'm betting Boston will be great too. I've always been a huge fan of big cities though. The people here are fantastic, too. That part was very unexpected.

That IS surprising to hear.  My guess is that it has a lot to do with the person they are conversing with!  You are very likeable.

I'm so excited for your race!

x2 and then what I always say ... if you're going to DOOOO EEEEET and it's pretty much just for the cause ... then do a nice 13.1 brisk walk on the course (if their time limit allows, and if you can hold yourself to walking). It's still a long way to walk, though.

Speaking of colorful tarts and traps ...

Such untenably shytty days yesterday and day before -- last night I was at the mall at 9pm (I hate shopping) because our house computer blew up (it's also used as an office computer, so we have someone working on it full time and we needed it NOW). Just could NOT resist this little find, though ... It's got WOW, HO, E.T., a bat-like alien and skulls on it! It's me to a T!

I'm so excited for your race!

is this a trap?

Speaking of colorful tarts and traps ...

Such untenably shytty days yesterday and day before -- last night I was at the mall at 9pm (I hate shopping) because our house computer blew up (it's also used as an office computer, so we have someone working on it full time and we needed it NOW). Just could NOT resist this little find, though ... It's got WOW, HO, E.T., a bat-like alien and skulls on it! It's me to a T!

WOW and HO or MOM and OH?  How about just holy crap that's a crazy suit!

Next step in the guessing game is....? Lol. Yes, it is a suitably wild suit. Just when you think it's going to zig it zags. Perfect

holy ish yes! This reminds me of my first bike. It said "rad" and "cool" on it.

I remind you of something awesome you used to ride.

YES!

By the way, I love New York. I always have. I never found the people unfriendly--quite the opposite. Just not California-fake or prone to excess verbiage, unless you're in Brooklyn.

It was $20. Top name-brand suit (Arena) with a racer-back. And looking like that (i.e., already loud and still begging to be paired with mismatched neon), how could I resist?
