3rd (and final) ride in the series. Fun day. Don't think the hills were quite as hard as the other rides, but did ride stronger.

One way I can describe how the roadies feel about a time trialist going by out there "You're going to get a lot of hop-ons".

In fact, nearly impossible to lose weight in peak training (just IME), although I sure do firm up some. Anyway, definitely at my target weight for IMJ, 60kg would have been Beyond Dreaming but I think I'll just sit here at Awesome Goal Met.

ETA: Come to think of it, I was always hungry anyway. So it's not any different now!

Probably not. I was getting enough protein but probably too few calories. Looking over my nutrition spreadsheet, "light" (0-2hrs workout) days are 1800-2000kcal, "medium" 2-4hrs are about 2200, "long" 6-8hrs are 2400-2600 (INCLUDING long session nutrition). Way not enough no matter how slow my metabolism is, and it's not that slow, relatively.

ETA: I got so caught up in tracking protein and iron that I really wasn't fueling well enough.

Well, I'm not gonna eat more NOW. It's taper time!!!

hehehehe. We took a couple of different turns on the way back...only made 59.7.  And I was trying to convey round trip so people didn't think I was riding 120mi for Dunkin. Surprised Although, it's a really good "carrot" for me!

i dont know what kind of fog i was in when i read your original post, but i read "DD" as "DH" and just figured you stopped somewhere for coffee!  NOw that I see the "DD", "r/t" is obvious.  Doh.

Riding that far just for DD, that is some serious coffee obsession :0

My Tri turned into an aquathlon this AM.  By my own choice.  We have had sun and heat for about 6 weeks, and this morning it decides to be cool and rainy!  This was a free, hardly-timed race, so my friend and I just decided to do the swim and run.  It was a nice workout, and after speaking with some who biked as well, I think we made the right choice--they were freezing, shivering and generally not enjoying themselves....  I'll try to do a bit of a RR later.

How are/did our AGN'ers do?

Sister ended up doing really well, finishing in around 1:30 total and strongly up in mid pack. Survived the swim (missed her exiting with some people needing lifeguard help at that time). Biked really well.  And ran much faster than any of us thought she could (much faster even thanIron when she was only running) breaking 26 minutes on a 5k.

Credits having a road bike for being faster (coming from a hybrid/mountain bike). It was funny to see as it was our brothers bike (6'1" vs 5'4"ish). The seat could get rather low, but it's a really long frame so really emphasized the superman position. I knew that would help, but what I didn't know is that for her training, she was most always riding with her 3 little kids. And by that I mean 1 was in the bike seat and the other two were in the trailer, so basically ride managed to qualify as "hard" (yes it really works). She also credits her swim training as helping out her run as the cardio development was much better than anything she'd been able to do before even though she didn't swim a whole lot.

Finished with an upset stomach developing from pushing the pace ("just complete", haha!) and was very happy with how the day went. Her friend finished well too (not her first time), and they both are already thinking of another sometime.

I swam this afternoon, first real swim workout in about 6 weeks and it felt great--Amazingly the pool did not implode when I got there and I did not drown.  The extra hot tub time may help these beaten up legs too.

city2surf - Sydney - Brief race report.

Year 1 92mins

Year 2 94mins

Year 3 102mins - grrrrr.

Well what are the contributing factors.  Years one and two I was doing Run/Walk 2:1 which kept my average pace up.  Now I've been training zone 2 I decided I'd just race this and that meant strictly no walking whatsoever, even up ridiculous Heartbreak Hill.

so the upshot of this is - Zone 2 will slow you down but eventually will speed you up - patience is a virtue in this for sure.  I'm only 6 weeks into it, I got 5 to go more or less.

It was also a hot and sunny day.

I felt strong for all of it but at the finish chute - I felt spent, I had nothing left and that's a good thing.  I usually have a bit left in the tank!

So whilst not a PR I am very happy that I ran 14km with no walking whatsoever.
