Sister ended up doing really well, finishing in around 1:30 total and strongly up in mid pack. Survived the swim (missed her exiting with some people needing lifeguard help at that time). Biked really well.  And ran much faster than any of us thought she could (much faster even thanIron when she was only running) breaking 26 minutes on a 5k.

Credits having a road bike for being faster (coming from a hybrid/mountain bike). It was funny to see as it was our brothers bike (6'1" vs 5'4"ish). The seat could get rather low, but it's a really long frame so really emphasized the superman position. I knew that would help, but what I didn't know is that for her training, she was most always riding with her 3 little kids. And by that I mean 1 was in the bike seat and the other two were in the trailer, so basically ride managed to qualify as "hard" (yes it really works). She also credits her swim training as helping out her run as the cardio development was much better than anything she'd been able to do before even though she didn't swim a whole lot.

Finished with an upset stomach developing from pushing the pace ("just complete", haha!) and was very happy with how the day went. Her friend finished well too (not her first time), and they both are already thinking of another sometime.

Yay for her! Sounds like she "got the bug" Laughing And that bike set up made me chuckle. 5'4" and hauling three kids...awesome!

Hi Manatees!!

Okay, first I have to tell you that a bottle of wine is NOT a good method for hydrating the night before a race, even if you do get told multiple times "oh come on, it's ONLY a sprint"... Yeah... so... that certainly wasn't the smartest thing I've ever done in my life.

Needless to say, the race did NOT go well for me, but... I had an absolutely AWESOME weekend!  Other than that craptastic hour and a half of racing, this was by far one of the best weekends of my life.  I got to meet new people (Adrienne and Elesa from the Manatees and Chris Gregg who is also a BTer), and got to see a bunch of friends that I haven't seen in ages (Whizzz, CoreDump, the Weningers, AmyJo, the Schmizes, the Crownys and a few others that aren't on BT)... and the icing on the cake... we may not have been able to make it to the chili pepper because of confirming plans with the Crownys, but while waiting for the Crownys to get to the expo - lookit who we got to chat with!!!

If you don't know who Sister Madonna Buder is (or Chrissy Wellington)... Google her/them.  Amazing and so incredibly inspirational!!!

At least I made it to the finish line, and with a smile on my face, so I'm happy with that... and rockin the Betty top!

Thanks for the inspires everyone - it was so nice to read them all today!!!

P.S...  Switch and Salty are even more amazing in person than they are on the internet - I'm SO happy I got to meet and hang out with these two awesome women!!!

Monica -

So I noticed your new Avatar (I don't know how long you've had it) and I clicked on it to see if I could see a larger version of the pic. While in your profile I stumbled upon your Boudoir pics.

WOW!!!

That is all, carry on.

I rode at a bike event. There were timing chips, but it wasn't really a race.

Lol - the avatar just got changed a few days ago - though that's from a race last November.  I'm not always that good at remembering to update some things.

Thanks! The boudoir pics were done as a favour for a friend of mine who was building her photography business at the time.  Hair stylists, make-up artists and airbrushing can do wonders!!

Had some sad news from my other internet family over on maccaX.

A guy got struck by a truck at the end of a 100mile charity ride and unfortunately died.  Just a freak accident he fell into the path of the truck it seems.

If you want to donate to a good cause in his memory please see below.  he leaves a wife and a nine year old daughter.

So sad to hear this news.

My biggest fear when riding is that I would have a blow out or need to swerve or just crash and fall over right in front of a passing vehicle.  When I had my crash - a car was passing, and his tire came VERY close to me.  There was no shoulder on either side of the road at that point, and there was traffic coming at us.

How are/did our AGN'ers do?

Yay! Thanks for finding them

Way to go AGNanatees!

Thanks Manatees!!  It was a really tough day out there for me today.  I had to wait about an hour between my scheduled swim start and the actual swim start because they were dredging the lake for a missing racer.  Turns out he chickened out and didn't give anyone his chip.  Yell  By the time I was finishing my bike, it was starting to ran and it was raining most of the run.  I've never had so many people cheer as all the athletes who were cheering as I came into T2.  I know there were all just waiting to be able to get their bikes, but it was cool because they were all pretty supportive.  Also! I wasn't DFL!  2nd to DFL, but I managed to stay 14 seconds ahead of the girl who was chasing me the whole way.

Anyway...I may actually be eligible for an award.  I was the 3rd Athena below 40 and they gave awards 3 deep.  Have to check tomorrow.

I think I may have seen you before the swim start this morning.  I saw someone in the same jersey and thought it was so cool and that I should tell you to buy one of the Betty Designs.

Good day everyone, I hope the weekend treated you well and that the start of another week brings miles of smiles. I took some time away from training and BT this weekend, although I checked in on occasion to see how racing went for everyone. What an awesome weekend it was for all you racing Manatees!

Jo - I am so sorry for your friend and his family. And at the end of a charity ride, that is just terrible. I'll be praying for his family. And nice running, I'm thinking you have every right to feel good about it.
Yanti - I hope all is well and that you are fueling your engine well.
Jen - Great job ad AG Nats, but WTH is going on with people not turning in their chips? Wow.
Monica - I believe you have a new avi to use in your quest to be a Betty, looking good. And congrats on your time with the good sister and CW. Sounds like you had a memorable weekend.
Salty - I hope your race was what you wanted, golly you are one speedy woman.
(S)witch - Goodness woman, that is fast stuff right there, good job!
Kirsten - Thank you for being you, your race report was a great way to start my morning!
Ben - Nice ride man. And congrats to your sister, I'm glad she enjoyed the race, she may be hooked.
Erin - Really nice ride, but I'm sure there has to be a DD that is easier to get to
Ann-Marie - Your ride was no laughing matter either, I hope your legs are doing OK.

Enjoy the week all!

The 1st week is all virtual training with a webinar / conference call at 8:30 a.m. and again at 4:30 p.m.

Weeks 2 - 3 I will be in Irvine, CA for onsite classroom training.

I am going to be sooooooo bored for 3 weeks, as this job is EXACTLY the same as a job I had with this companies competitor.  They even use the same laptops!  Oh well, at least I escaped that horrible boss!

I received a text @ 6:20 a.m. from the guy covering my Monday route, asking for my password.  They haven't even locked me out of their system yet!  Such incompetency.  Just think of the emails I could send out now!    That place is ridiculous.

All my former boss had to do was forward a simple email.  I even organized my truck for the guys - left notes everywhere... it was idiot proof - and he still messed it up. What a joke.

So glad to be away, and I am loving my commute from my living room to my office.  I don't have to pay the bridge toll to get to work!  I brewed a pot of coffee, and had a load of laundry in by 6:30 a.m.  I'm going to love this "training"!
