Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() My son's first full tri was today also, we were racing about the same time but Sam recorded it for me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udeZ09nEqPo It's about 8:00 worth of coverage and you can hear my daughter screaming because she wants the camera, and Sam giving him transition tips. I do like the first part where he gets in the swimmers position to start and the RD tells him he can't start that way. Also at the end another kid passes him as they get close and he kicks it up a notch. Pretty funny we both called each other at the end of our races to see how each other did. He had a great time and told me he was really looking forward to his next race which is actually in a couple of weeks. Oh, and I think I'll try that jumping jack warmup at my next race to see how it goes. Edited by dalessit 2010-08-22 5:35 PM |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Race report is up: RR Swim was bizzare!! Cost me a lot overall in my AG. I really think I could have placed 1st in my AG in the swim. I was 2nd in the bike in AG and 9th OA. My run let me down again, but not as much as last time. Had a great time afterwrds with Linda (Havin' Fun's family and her friend Margo and daughter). My Mom and Dad came out to watch the race too as they were down fro MD. 2 races to go. |

![]() Had so much fun today! "Raced" a sprint today. Missed 3rd OA by 7 seconds, but won my AG. Had no idea what to expect and decided to just have fun so I left my watch a home....just went with how the body felt. I think that really took a lot of pressure off. The race was tough....short but pretty hilly, so I'm pretty happy with my results. My husband did it too - his first triathlon. He's run marathons but has just entered the tri world (guess he got tired of just sitting at races). He was awesome, ended up 13th in his AG. Friend came in from VA for the race. She had a decent swim and run, but delt with two flats on the bike course. Dang! After the race went to Doug's house...what an incredible host! Sorry, no pics we can post ![]() Kids start school on Wednesday, so I'll be around more. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Terps421 - 2010-08-21 10:13 AM I just raced a 5 mile run and was 1st in my age group with a time of 39.32. Not bad after a 22 mile training run yesterday. My daughter ran it as her first race and came in 2nd in her age. I am proud of her and I hope she gained some confidence today! My pool is closed for the next week so I will have to hop on the bike tomorrow and put in more biking miles. Linda Nice work on the run especially after the 22 miler... holy cow! Congrats to your daughter, hopefully that confidence also leads into future interest! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() dalessit - 2010-08-22 9:09 AM WOOT! first bike race in the books. Got lucky number 13 and it rained, but I have all my skin and finished just behind the main group. Should have finished with them but stupid mistake on my part put me in a bad spot right when the group accelerated and I didn't have anything to accelerate with... That many bikes in that close a space is pretty intimidating, not the same as a group ride at all. Avg speed 24.9 Mph Max speed 34.7 Avg watts 227 Max watts 912 Normalized power 262 LOL best 60 seconds is 385 watts. Might have to do a few more of these next year, learned some good stuff to place better next time. Doing a RR here in a few. NICE! thats moving, nice spike at 912, good luck in the future with the bike races, I bet you learn from that and dont do the same thing again in the future! |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hi All.... Like Dino, I am totally behind on the news of the day...will try to catch up tomorrow before I head out for two days of work travel. My day was long and tough.....learned some things and still have more to learn. I am dog tired tonight. The saddest thing is my old swim coach who taught me the basics died in his sleep last night. He was in his early 30s. |

I never do -- my metabolism is all messed up and nothing feels right; it's usually a very restless night's sleep for me. Hopefully that is not the case for you!!) So again, sleep well!! |

I am also a HORRIBLE sleeper the night of a big workout. Couple that with my former swim coach dying and I slept very little. No one knows yet why he passed away. Not sure they will do an autopsy, but I am guessing yes. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() What an amazing weekend for everyone! Linda - congrats to you and your daughter. Man, I would take your legs on a bad day anytime. Michelle - happy belated b-day Tony - congrats on the first bike race. Did you wear lucky 13 upside down like the pros do? And congrats to your son. Dino -wow! Epic!! Doug and Linda - congrats on great sprints. Sorry I couldn't make it. With my husband and I both in the final push for our big races balancing training schedules with the girls activities is getting really tough. Linda, can't believe you just "went out for fun without a watch" and won your a.g. Guess that shows you what amazing talent in the pool and on the run will do for you. Sorry your friend had a bumber experience. Congrats to your hubby. So is he hooked? Will we see him at Pinehurst? Suzy - congrats on another amazing workout and so sorry about the loss of your coach. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() As for me, I'd forgotten how much work is involved in preparing for "help" to arrive. My mom is flying in from KS to stay with my girls while we go to Cananda this weekend and it is hard planning things out. It would be so much easier if she just knew what was involved in running my family for a week so I wouldn't have to write it all out. Thank goodness for the Garmin in the car or I would be totally lost!! Anyway, I am anxiously preparing for my trip to the Pacific Northwest to see Birdy, Ryan, Kyla, Matt and hopefully Trevor and Roni in Canada. Should be good times. I'll take lots of photos I promise. Trevor and Roni, I'm packing my wetsuit. Wanna swim? Edited by tahrens 2010-08-23 8:50 AM |

Yeah I thought about the upside down thing like Cancellara but I figured I wasn't quite that cool yet. : ) Sounds like a great weekend of workouts, races and such for everyone. I have a meeting with my coach today, need to figure out what I want to do between now and January, Cross bike doesn't look like it's happening so I need to find something to do during the fall before marathon training gets in full swing. Funny, been 24 hrs since my "last" on the calendar and already getting antsy to put more on this years calendar. I guess all that there really is, is running races, maybe try and find a half mary or something to train for. |
