Subject: RE: DOWN for 2013 - New Year New You!

Hey Everyone!  It's been a while since I've checked in (like before Christmas).  Then I read the last post and I totally feel your frustration.  I feel as though I've been gaining and losing the same 5 pounds for YEARS.  I just want to get below 140 - so close and yet it feels like so far.  I joined myfitnesspal and when I click the "complete this entry" it will say something to the effect that in 5 weeks I will be well below my goal.  But the weeks pass and I'm still not close enough.  Last week I wasn't near a scale and trusted the burn calculator and low-and-behold return to the city to discover I'm up a couple of pounds.  It's incredible to me that I can gain 3 pounds in a week but it will take me 3 weeks to lose the same 3 pounds.  FRUSTRATING!  I'm sure a lot of it has to do with water and salt but ya... FRUSTRATING!

Anyway - the challenge continues and thanks for your posts as it's good to read I'm not alone and I too will try to reach my goal!

Stay strong over the weekend peeps!

Looks like extra gravitational pull is affecting everyone this week!

I have lost one of the 8 pounds I gained (in a week!!!) due to those damned steroids. I probably would have lost more but I am not as on-schedule with my training and my eating has been, not out of hand exactly, but not great either. I guess I am lucky to have lost one of the extra pounds.

Keep on keeping on folks!

1 week to race and 1 pound to race weight, 186.2  If I make it to 185 for the race, that will be 20# lighter than I raced the same race last year, and 50# lighter than the same race 2 years ago

SON OF A MOTHER !)@(#*$ !)@(#!!!

On my way to work this morning, I ran into some issues getting on base.  Had to stop at a 7-Eleven to borrow a phone (I killed my cellular service... too pricey).  As I dismounted my motorcycle, I rolled my right ankle.  It's not swollen, but it hurts to put weight on it.

This thing better be good to go quick... I have a plan to utterly DOMINATE the Clydes Division of a sprint tri that happens in 10 weeks!

Awwww, bummer! I have rolled my ankles twice. I think you could be ready in 10 weeks! Take care to be gentle with it and not hurt it any more!

Lisa and Lisa - thank you for your support. I am sorry for you, but it is good to know I'm not crazy.

Speedknight - what GreenMtnLabbit said!

Yea Cat - you are an inspiration.

Robin, I hope your medical issues resolve. It sucks to have one more thing to overcome.

I am back up to 229, but with the recent events (mom's cancer and my youngest stepdaughter dying in a car accident a week ago), I think that it could have been much worse.  I should be back on track tomorrow.  Been cooking all day so food should be set for the week.  Just need to get back into the gym.

Tricupcake - I am so very sorry for your loss - I can't begin to imagine how horrible it is - it is just not right for a parent to bury a child.
Take care of yourself and family. Try to eat some healthy foods if you can, get some sleep and hug your family a lot.

Don't add any unnecessary pressure on yourself. Your weight is just fine for now.

Tricupcake, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I know how hard it can be to focus on taking care of yourself when everyone else around you is sad and needs your time and energy. Be well.

So far no change in weight this week.  But here is the win for me:  my favorite jeans fit again.  Last time I squeeazed into them I popped a button on them and was way past being an over-stuffed sausage in them.  Tonight I replaced the button and got them on without any problems.

Judi - that is SOOOO great! Confirmation that you are working hard and it is paying off.

Just checking in. Planned on getting my eating in a more structured format and was eating crap by the end of the end. Haven't stopped this whole week. It's what it is - bummed, wanting to just give up, been here before I'll turn it around soon.
Usually working out for a few days helps, been slacking this week too.
I'm focused on my training starting Sunday - not quite a "I'll diet tomorrow thing", really have been working toward the start of my plan.

Tricupcake: So very sorry for your loss. Take care of you and your family.

Speedknight: Go easy for the next week then gradually increase the stress you put on that ankle. Give yourself time to heal and you will be the dominator!

Great NSV fitting into your jeans! That's always a good measurement of progress.

LADIES: do any of you experience time-of-the-month crazy hungries? I don't usually have severe symptoms but this month they seem to be magnified. Hungry like the wolf. Can't get full. Do I keep eating to satisfy some crazy hormonal/physical need? Or back off and stay hungry (and subsequently get cranky/hangry) to try and stay within a reasonable calorie range. Seems to be a lose-lose situation.

What do you do?

Tricupcake - so sorry to hear about your loss. Take care of yourself, don't worry about the scale, and squeeze in a little exercise if you can, it might help you feel better. Prayers for you and your family.

156.4 YEAH! Finally under 157...it's been a long month. Not going to make my goal of 155, but downwards is downwards.

Extremely sorry for your loss as other have said no parent should outlive their child.  My condolences.  I have often used workouts as an escape, if only momentary, from the chaos of life.  I hope you find peace in training.

Hello downers.

What a weekend it was.  Ran with 11 great guys on a 200 mile relay across south Texas.  It was by far and away the coolest most awesome race experience I have ever had in my albeit brief racing career.  And when all was said and done we had surpassed our team fundraising goal of $12,000 for The V Foundation for Cancer Research and had raised over $13,500 by the time we crossed the finish line.

Got back to training on Tuesday as I have an Olympic distance race in about a month, and a HIM two months after that.  No rest for the wicked.

Challenge:  For the month of April I intend to try and eat completely clean with no processed food or grains.  Just the basics, Meat, Veggies, Fruits, and Roots, with no planned cheat days for the month.  This is going to be very tough for me as I love my oatmeal in the morning.  I addition to that I am going to restart my burpee challenge on April 1 as it was sidetracked by a finger injury.  So I guess that is two challenges.  My birthday is Sunday so it will be one last hurrah before giving it my all in April.

....so "whose coming with me?"  That's me channeling my best Jerry Maguire

I was planning the same thing so I am in! (of course minus nutrition during a few races I have) What exactly is the burpee challenge? 1 a day building daily?
