I just had one of the most enjoyable runs to date.  I went out around 6:45.  72 degrees.  No humidity.  Sun is very low.  Instead of my normal, fast paced training music playing on my Ipod, I put on some Jack Johnson and Xavier Rudd.  No HR monitor, no looking at my watch.  Just enjoying the day.  I did about three miles.  I felt great starting out, then the legs got a little tight at the end.  I know it is a little too soon after my HIM to run, but it was so nice, it was hard not to.

yes, but with natural speed like yours, do you really need to work hard?

Want to wish Trevor, Tracy, Sam and Tony good luck this weekend!  Hopefully I didn't miss anyone.

So, who has already registred for Lonestar? and who is still planning to do so?  Now that it is a 70.3, I bet it will fill up faster!  Don't delay.

Calgary weather is awesome!!! Less than 2 weeks ago, it hit 33C(low 90's)...forecast for tonight is wet snow and a low of 0C(32ish)...Tomorrow should be fun. If it was january, I'd take the weather. But how quickly it can change.

As for Lonestar....I'd love to make it still. Can't see myself doing a 1/2 though as my 1st race of the season.

Any one doing the Oly?

That would be very cool if you could make it down, just do the Oly, don't sweat the 1/2.

Good morning all.  I did my longest run to date last night - 15 miles!  Slow but steady until the last 3 miles.  I am sitting here at work with ice on my left calf and left knee.  That darn left side again.

I would love to do Lonestar but that is alot of money for both my hubby and I to travel and race.  We are going to Disney in January for my marathon and don't know if Texas is on the radar.  I realize we have to decide soon.  I really want to see all of you though....... let me think on it.  Anyone want to buy my entrance fee for me as a birthday present?  Today is your chance to do it?!?!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRACY!

BTW here is a message about Lonestar and it moving to a M-Dot branded race, from the Texas forums, Keith is the RD.

Just back from Galveston, and meeting with Beach Patrol, Moody Gardens, etc....

Here's the skinny....the race isn't gonna change, folks.

We'd planned for a while to move the Quarter to Saturday, to have a true Olympic. It also eliminates the MANY complaints I had from Half Iron athletes who had to start really late on Sunday. I'm sure you're wondering why we just don't start the half Iron first...there are several logistical reasons, and uh, we do actually think about this stuff

I think a true Oly will be great.
What will change is the size of the 70.3. It'll still be limited to 1800 or so, and we had a meeting with the Beach Patrol yesterday to discuss swim waves, etc. Our waves will remain small, only 100 probably. Same as last year. They'll go off every 5 minutes. It's one of the ways we keep the drafting in check. Keep in mind there were 1700 or so athletes on the course last year on Sunday...did it seem crowded? There are ways to deal with this.

Do I think it's a good thing to have Ironman 70.3? Yes, I do. The city is very excited about it, and it opens more doors for support, etc. Those are CRITICAL to the future of the race. Moody Gardens is also fired up. BOTH VERY GOOD THINGS!!!!

I'm still really curious to think why it isn't a good thing. Will it sell out faster? I REALLY hope so. It makes things MUCH easier on us to order the correct # of shirts, hats, waterbottles, schwag, course supplies etc. You all probably don't understand how much notice it requires to line this stuff up. It's very difficult when the race sells out close to race date....

Will the race be worse? Nope, in fact we're already working on the improvements we're planning on implementing for 2010. This is a huge passion of mine, and we're incredibly proud of what we do....

Happy Birthday Tracy! Why not try to see how many MG members we can get to go to Augusta? I know at least two (maybe 3) are planning on it.

Tracy---- Happy Birthday, and CONGRATS on the run last night!  That is great!  I hope you have a great birthday weekend planned!

In regards to the left side??  Is something on your right side nagging you and you are compensating your running style?   Seems odd.  Maybe you are running on the left side of the road, and it is slanted ever so slightly?  Throw compression socks on for those calves... You'll be amazed how much better you feel.

Trevor---do the Oly!  That way the whole team can cheer you on since it is on Saturday with the Sprint!

The rest of you dig deep and TRY to make it to Galveston.  If you are even remotely thinking of doing it, my suggestion is you book a room.  Moody Gardens has a 48 hour cancellation policy.

The weather is WI has turned awful.....mid 40s, rain and wind.  I am not ready for this.....especially given my 66m bike ride tomorrow.  If it rains, I'm trainer bound.

I just got back from Butte, MT where my daughter shipped off for boot camp this morning. Talk about a weather change, it was 30 degrees and snowing in Butte! Normally, I LOVE running when it's cold, but I've had no chance to acclimate so REALLY wasn't liking it.  Glad to be back in 50 degree Kalispell, then Sunday heading to Tacoma where it should be even a little warmer

Good luck to everyone racing this weekend!!!!

I'm off to read all the pages of posts I've missed

Happy birthday Tracy!!!

Chris...what did you decide on the IM?

I am still out for Lonestar, but I'm in for Augusta.  If my sister's wedding date changes (she is pretty set on the Lonestar weekend) then I will be in for Lonestar...but I'm not counting on it.

I'm looking forward to this weekend....kids sports (football & soccer) and college football - I didn't catch any college football ball last weekend.

Have a good weekend everyone!
