The numbers are based on your age group (unless 1900 people signed up before 8am on November 1st!)
Hope to see everyone there!

I signed up 4 minutes after registration opened, unless 1900 signed up before I did,  there is another method to assign numbers.

Looking at the participant list:

Mens pro     = #1-16

Women pro = #20-40

And then it goes alphabetically by last name by age group.

does anyone have an opinion on the need for arm warmers during the beginning of the ride?  my swim is at 7:02am so I can't imagine it will be that warm by 7:45ish....any thoughts from those who have done the race before.....
cheers!

I wore arm warmers for my first 1/2 vineman (early swim start too that year) - I don't think I really needed them and they were a pain to put on. The next year my swim was later and I decided to skip them. I guess my advice would be to see how you feel after you get out of the water - have them there in transition but I don't think you will need them.

That's funny, I'm 1760.  We have a couple of consecutive numbers here.  Will anyone sporting their BT tatoo?

thanks suzzie -  in responce to my question, I just picked up my wetsuit and I think following a swim in the suit I will be warm enough...although with the increase weather temp these days the water temp might be too warm for wetsuits

I am #1129.  Can't wait for this Sunday!  The weather looks to be pretty nice.  As of right now the high is 85 with an overnight low of 55.  Has anyone decided on a place to meet other BTers?  This will be my first race at this distance and it would be nice to get rid of some nerves!

Whoa!! I didn't even think about this!!! I train in Phoenix, so the concept of cooler weather has completely escaped me. I don't even own a pair of arm warmers! Should I buy some? Wednesday will be my only day to buy them, since I'm driving out Thursday morning. Any thoughts???

It was pretty chilly for a lot of the ride last year...I'd say there were more people saying they wish they'd worn toe covers on their cycling shoes than that they wanted arm warmers...though arm warmers wouldn't have been wasted.  It was very damp along the river in the early morning and overcast, which made for a cold ride (esp. in a wet tri top...).

Cold last year and very warm the year before. I dont plan on arm or toe warmers this year, they will be packed just in case though.

It was over 100 degrees here today!  I'm not saying it willl be that hot on race day, but you never know.

When I raced 2 years ago, the organizers offered a great tip about arm warmers.  Rather than buying a pair, they said to go to Target and buy men's tube-socks (the long ones), cut the toe off and WHAM...instant arm-warmers...really cheap.  This way if you wear them you can just toss them in the trash along the course when it heats up.  If you don't wear them, you're only out $2-$3.

I have been doing a little bit of research and found that there is an Italian Restaurant ( I am assuming folks want a pasta dinner) about 1 mile or so from the High School in Windsor if people want to meet up for dinner on Sat.  For those Food Network fans, it's Guy Fieri's restaurant called Johnny Garlic's.  I don't know a lot about it, but the menu looks good.  I am happy to call for reservations if we get a big group interested.  I was thinking sometime between 4:30 and 5:30pm?  Probably earlier the better for a bigger group.  Thoughts?

So had a pow wow with coach last night - he said yesterday was the hottest day of the week that it should be like 12 degrees cooler on Sunday. I'd like to go with that.  Let's keep our fingers crossed.

And arm warmers? I don't think its necessary. just my 2 cents.

#1532-that's me. I LOVE the idea of the mens tube socks!

It's been 100 degrees here in Marin CA, abpout 50ish miles from Guernville.

I may be really weird on this one....but I cannot wait till Sunday, not only to do the race, but so I can recover and get back to my higher training load in prep for IM St. George.

I don't know if taking the week off of work combined with taper is the best of ideas! Though my body feels amazing and I have to be really mindful to keep the paces of the last easy, short sessions, well, easy.

I was never cold on the ride last year - with only 5 miles of riding till you start hitting hill climbing, I was plenty warm from that point on. I guess YMMV
