Cavu, what do you think about my suggestion for scoring on page one of the challenge central thread? I think it would be pretty easy to administer. Just put your thoughts on that thread.

And Team Yeuling (or however you spell it) is now known as Team Ylangylang. Good luck, Threesomes. You'll need it with Endless Summer in the house.

Edited to say that I read so much useless blather that I thought I was on your team's thread. Heh.

Is this not the challenge central thread????   I am sooo confused.

My only thoughts against that is that it has a more likely chance to having a few teams tied....and no one likes to tie.

Cavu, I understand what you're saying but I think it would be fantastic if all of the teams met their goals.

And Renee, if we have a team that for some reason doesn't make (less than 8 members, for example), Endless Summer would be happy to add another triathlete to our roster.

Don't understand.....both my way of scoring and yours...the member would be shooting for 100%, whether the score is a check mark or a percentage.....by my way, if they are stronger in another discipline they can make up for any shortcomings in another.....

COgirl - 2005-07-01 5:17 PM I propose that when Team Yuengling LOSES to Team formerly known as Team 6 (and everyone else), that each member must mail me and my teammates a LOT of Yuengling......A LOT!

I think you should defect Cathy.  There's always room for a cool chick in Team Yuengling.

Is there a team who is still looking for a member? I've been sorta out of it all day, with my wife getting into an altercation with an 18-wheeler and trashing our car. Yes she's fine, thanks! I'd be willing to join any team what wants to put up with me!

Max??!!! Our Max!!??? While i certainly hope his wife is okay after her ordeal (and it really sounds serious), I get first dibs on Max. He likes imperfect spandex chicks. Perfect for me as team captain. Seriously, first freakin' dibs.

Cavu, I understand what you're saying. I just don't like it. To me, if you pledge X yards in the pool, but don't make it, you're less than your goal. You can ride a gazillion more miles on your bike but it doesn't matter, IOW, you hit your specific goal in your spedific event, or you're less than 100% in that event. Are you saying the same thing?

I would be up for joining a team or starting my own, should there be enough interest.  Unfortunately, I can't seem to discern the rules or goals to this challenge.  What is the bottom line?  Is the challenge for total amount of time training for all three disciplines or for each discipline separately?  In the latter, conceivably, three different teams could win in their respective disciplines.

Can't stand it. I declare Max and NYtrigal on my team and every body else on my team. As the first out of the blocks, I never declared 8 as a team limit for Endless Summer. More risk, more reward. We're definitely a more middle aged crowd so we probably won't be rushed, but if you want in, declare by tomorrow at 5 PM CST.

We have some really good trash talkers.

Wow - you seem frazzled already.  What are you going to be like after you lose?  You might want to cut back on the caffiene this month...

Quick question. Great idea on the no addition of over you goal distance since it will keep over training down. But I fear for multiple 100% coming on in this month. But who know this is my first month

For anyone still looking for a team, go to the Team 8 sign-up thread. Someone from Team 7 (which has 9 members right now) should move over to Team 8 since it looks like there are more people interested in forming another team.

No, our Captain Lynda the Lovely is simply the most warm-hearted of all captains. And very self-less - a leader who leads by taking care of her team and making them successful. Unlike some captains of whom I hear, who only want to use their teams as vehicles to glorify themselves beyond reality. cough*kim*cough

Team 8:
1. Captain Machiavelo
2. skavoovie
3. nliedel
4. Max
5. rsqdvr

For those of you who haven't already done so, you still need to confirm your team assignment and post your goals on the team 8 thread.

Good luck, all!

Do I smell a TEAM 9?!?!?!

Captain Machiavelo reporting for duty.  I would like to clarify a few things at the onset.  Does the challenge only include swimming, cycling and running? I hope so because otherwise the logistics of it all would be rather complicated.  Secondly, how do we gauge having achieved our goal if, for instance, I set swimming goal at 10,000 in 240 minutes and finish with that distance at the end of the month in a time of 220 minutes.  How would this affect the percentage of my achievement?  Would this constitute a 100% achivement in distance and a 91.6% achievement in time?  Or could this be construed as an achievent of  108.3% in time seeing as I swam faster than anticipated?

Team 8 lineup:

1. Captain Machiavelo
2. skavoovie
3. nliedel
4. Max
5. rsqdvr
6. TriMom3
7. harmony??
8. cadreamer

Mach....I think you need to pick either your goals in time or in distance, not both.  Members can do whatever they want...it will still be a percentage of completion of said goal....being EITHER distance or time.

Lynda...I see what you are saying, but that is not what you were saying earlier in the day...you made the statement that you would like to see all members complete their goal....by being able to make up deficits in one discipline with excess in another would allow that.  if we don't want to have it that way, that is fine....we can limit it to a max of 100% per category...if you go over that, then you are just doing extra miles/minutes for you own good....

I just like the pecentage achieved vice the completed/not completed check mark system....with this many teams...there would be to much chance for a tie with the check mark system.

Other coaches...let's hear what you think!!!

Can a newbie play??? I just joined last night...but have my sites set on a sprint tri - sometime in the future. Perahps my yardage won't be high - but my spirit and determination are - and I always make my goads when it comes to working out. Let me know if there is going to be a team 9.
