Thats why a lot of organizations define themselves as LGBTQAI (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning, Allies, Intersex). As one poster said earlier, human sexuality is not binary. In response to the original poster, I am gayer than Elton John's fanny pack I couldn't help but think of this when I was reading through the thread.....absolutely hilarious by Margaret Cho. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AXlRKrdQsU#t=00m31s /> Hmmm So heterosexuals are supposed to be open to the gay community but....not vice versa? Isn't that being what they don't want hetero's to be? "Why can't we all just get along?" I'm not an expert, but I'm pretty sure that the A (Allies) is there to include heterosexuals, as well. Thanks Hope so. I was once one of 4 (apparently) hetero oriented people at a 3-400 person Wrecker party at Key West, they didn't seem to care a whole lot and I really could care less, but I am getting tired of being criticized/marginalized for not belonging to a special interest group...hey wait...does TAN count? |

Pro 6767 the Alabama part of Pennsylvania | Subject: RE: Are you GAY?? AcesFull - 2010-06-15 4:09 PM Not gay. Frankly, I can't understand why anyone, male or female, would choose a male partner. This means I totally get why a woman would be a lesbian, but I don't get straight women OR gay men. Just saying... Because, apart from the whole sex part, being gay means hanging out with your buddy all the time. And frankly, if we legalize gay marriage, the sex part will go away. At least, that seems to be what happens when straight couples marry... |

Pro 4189 Pittsburgh, my heart is in Glasgow | Subject: RE: Are you GAY?? What the heck, what is with everyone's obsession with sexual orientation today? So I'm at work tonight, and I'm helping a male and female customer (obviously a couple). So I'm chatting with both of them, working on getting them a product. Those who have met me on this board know that I have a somewhat strange accent, a mixture of Scottish/N. Irish and a healthy dose of Pittsburgher. So the female of this couple is from a foreign country. She and I are chatting about Scotland and what have you, and then just BAM! out of now where, "So, are you straight?". Um...i'm sorry? She couldn't have just asked that, right? She must be asking if I'm straight Scottish...so I answer the question in that mode. "Oh no, I was asking if you are straight, sexually" Uhhhhh...yes. I'm married. "Oh, I just thought because of the hair that you would be not straight. I know that that's not something you ask people, but I wanted to know." *le sigh* If that's not something you ask people, THEN DON'T ASK IT. Not that I was offended that they thought I was a lesbian, but to be honest, I didn't (and wouldn't) open that door to a customer because it isn't appropriate. It's just not something that you straight up and ask people, because it's just none of their dammed business. Seriously. If I had asked the same thing of a customer, my butt would be fired. Period. *grumble* Long night |

If you support gay marriages or civil unions, equal rights, etc, then consider yourself an ally (not to say you have to be leader of the gay parade, in that case lol) |

But gay/lesbian say the bi's need to make a choice. They can't have their cake and eat it too. This is not true all over, and I think this feeling is changing in most communities. I have several bi sexual friends. Most gay people I know now, have bi-sexual friends. Our community center in San Jose is also very Bi friendly. I think the more we learn and talk about sexuality, the more we open up to just accepting everyone. I am sure there are still people out there who feel that bisexuals need to make a choice, but to an extent, we are all bisexual. There are women that I see that I find very attractive sexually...it is rare, but it happens. I think there are plenty of straight guys who meet someone with that certain "something" and whether they admit it or not, they find that person attractive. I believe that is human nature. My problem is that I am attracted to straight guys. I have a question for any straight guys reading the thread. When running, if you saw another guy checking you out, would you be offended or flattered. I find myself looking at the eye candy that run on the trail here. I don't run with my glasses on, so sometimes I look more than I should. |

When running I would not be able to tell because I can barely focus on the whole left foot right foot thing. I personally don't care who checks me out, male or female but I don't like being casually touched by anyone male or female. Look but don't touch. I had a straight male boss that would always feel my triceps. nope. I have had numerous hot female coworkers be flirty and touch me too. nope. If you are not my wife (or girlfriend before I was married) or family back of a step or two. I have a large area of personal space that you should probably stay out of. |
