I love doggie threads!  I did start the dogs of BT thread...just sayin'

Here are my boys.  They're jack russell-god knows what mixes.  About 30 pounds each and they can run forever.  13 miles for Hank (white with the patch over his eye) and 18 for Rudy (tan sweetheart). Rudy is a rescue.  Saddest story ever but I tell it so everyone knows that rescue works.  RuDog was found on a beach in Hawaii after being abused and set on fire (!)...he was taken to a vet, who said he had zero chance of survival but decided to use a batch of expired antibiotics on him and to give him love.  He made it through the night, I adopted him and all of that was over 6 years ago.  He moved with me from Hawaii to California and he is my boy.  Hank is his younger "brother," and a high-spirited naughty little delight.  The first pic is from NYE when we went to Dog Park in Ocean Beach--a dog park on the beach.  Heaven on earth.

He is a very intelligent, gentle giant.....but very protective of his family!  When my husband leaves town, I always feel safe with Luca around.

karen26.2 - 2011-01-04 9:20 PM walkabout - love the pictures of your ridgeback.  Does she lure course?

We haven't lure coursed her yet.  My wife and I started a tri shop over the summer so we didn't have too much time.  We did get a chance to do some straight racing with the local gaze hound club though.  People brought their RR's to Oregon from as far as Boise and Seattle only to get beat by the local upstart who happened to show up that day!  She took 3 of 4 heats and only got second on the one because I was late slipping her.  If you can't tell, dad was very proud :-)  Hopefully she'll get to go coursing next summer since she loves chasing the lure.

Beautiful RR that you have.  I know the lap dog feeling.  She's laying across my wife as I type.  She did 9.5 miles tonight and is quite pooped.

This guy just went through 9 months of recovery after surgery on both knees.

He tore his ACL and then tore the other one while recovering from the first. That set me back the equivalent cost of 3 bikes :-) But 4 healthy legs is worth more than 3 bikes.

He is running again, but I really don't want to push.

We have a 6 month old Gread Dane pup, and he is one of the best dogs I've ever had, and I've had dogs my entire life. He really is MY dog. Wherever I am is where he wants to be. He is great with my kids, and all the other kids that are in and out of my house. We take him out all the time to socialize him around people, but I have no doubt he would be protective of the family if need be. I am hoping he can eventually be a reading therapy dog. My daughter will use him as a pillow and lay there and read to him, so he's getting plenty of practice now.

How much does your guy weigh? At 6 months mine was 105.7 lbs and the vet tech said he was on the lean side.

Molly is extremely cute, she has a very sweet face.....They love those car rides.....

She's a real beaut! Love her to death. She's never happier than when she's in the car. She also found some gummi bears under the seat that day... she was in heaven.

Hah, funny, I thought exactly that when I saw this photo.  Ours was a rescue and loves the snow as well.  Although at 80 pounds I could not pick her up like that.

My baby Rhine was the best running partner I had.. Helped me win races due to his eagerness of having to be in front. Unfortunately he was only 3.5 and some guy jumped the curb while we were running. Rhine was closer to the road then I was and got hit at 60 mph. Pretty much killed him instantly... That was this Oct. 13th. I've had a hard time since then as you dog lovers know how hard it is to lose your furchild and your running partner all at once...

But I have a new running partner that will be ready to go in 1 more month.. But she says she is ready to go now!!! She is 5 monthes old and 40 lbs and cute as a button.. Meet my new baby Helena.. She has huge expectations to live up too...

Helena looks way too cute and slightly naughty.  Congratulations on the new addition!

I love doggie threads.

First is my sweet girl Sienna.  She's way smarter than me, and would usually prefer to hop around in the rocks chasing lizards rather than run on a leash.  She's a great hiking and rock climbing accomplice though.
sienna

And my step-dog, Callie.  Dumb as a rock, but super sweet and loving.   She usually starts a run pulling you really hard, then settles into your pace after about a mile, and after 3 miles is dragging behind you and ready to go home.

Love all the pics of everyone's dogs!  So many cuties and beauties.

My running buddies, post-muddy trail run last winter.  The grey one is truly the runner, the Jack Russell, well, not so much.  She's the swimmer!  She reminds me of Elwood, pictured previously in this thread.

Yeah, their markings are really similar. Dip is about a third the weight of yours though. Do you know anything about the breeds in your dog?

MillieMayhem

This is 1 yr old (or so) Millie Mayhem.  Our 12 year old Lab mix, Guinness, made the trip to doggie heaven in May.  We picked her She picked us in September when we visited the dog shelter for my birthday.  She has made our house much cleaner--the kids have learned to put their toys away when they are finished playing with them... or their hers!!!!

So far, she's a good runner (but doesn't like the snow).
