Are we supposed to weigh in on Mondays? For some reason, I've been weighing in on Fridays. I can change if that's the deal. I think most of us have been weighing in on Friday (I know I like my weight better on a Friday than on a Monday... hee hee) ... but it really doesn't matter as long as you're checking in once a week. P90X is supposed to do great things for body comp! Of course, from personal experience, just having the DVD's in the house doesn't seem to do much... |

That darn Easter Bunny...force feeding me candy like that! Ate healthy today, goal is to start setting up weekly menu plans again. I second this... I stopped planning meals as soon as I started teaching at the end of March. My lunches and dinners have been horrible and most of the time not even very tastey. I'm finding it really hard with the commute + new teacher = 12-14 hour days. My husband has minimal cooking interest so if I want something healthy I pretty much have to make it myself. At this point I'm just happy that I have started training again, but my goal is to at least fix my breakfasts and lunches. I think that what I need is a personal chef. |

Are we supposed to weigh in on Mondays? For some reason, I've been weighing in on Fridays. I can change if that's the deal. I don't think it matters. I weigh myself every day, but I count Monday as my "official" weight. My theory is that I will be more responsible on the weekend. Fat lot of good that did me last weekend! |

Elite 2640 Ontario, Canada | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge: Swimsuit Edition Lunch time was lurking and instead of filling up on refined grains (as I wanted to!) I ate a handful of raw broccoli with a bit of dressing and a tiny (single) serving of pasta with tomato sauce. I cut the rest of the broccoli up to eat during lunch for the next 2 days. |

Science Nerd 28760 Redwood City, California | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge: Swimsuit Edition I packed a Lean Cuisine for lunch today. I even managed to resist the temptation to go to Einstein Bagels and get a bagel sandwich. Tough stuff. Too bad I am still kind of hungry. I think I have a snack around somewhere. |

(In fact, I served the healthiest Easter dinner I ever have & the family loved it - turkey ham, grilled asparagus & fruit salad). Back tomorrow - hopefully with progress. |

Are you doing the diet part of it as well or just the workout routines? Do you sub out running for one of the kenpo/plyo days? I really enjoyed P90X for progress that I made in muscle endurance and just all out athleticism (it was a good x-training tool for the Missouri winter). Best of luck with your progress! Oh, and if you haven't found it yet, there is an x-cel file that you can download to track your weights/reps (it is a must for gaging effort and week to week progress).

Master 2177 | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge: Swimsuit Edition Thanks for the feed back on weigh in days! I thought there was a set day for it. I'll stick to my Friday one then. Where is that spreadsheet at? I'd love a look. You're not talking about the one at the beachbody site, are you? Edited by Blanda 2012-04-10 8:26 PM |

Extreme Veteran 671 Not Quite DFL | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge: Swimsuit Edition Ok. I updated. I changed my start weight to what I was at the beginning of April. I Really would like to be under 200 - and I noticed I am the heaviest person in this challenge - so - I've got that going for me. Have a half marathon in 17 days - after that I am considering a restart of P90X. I have some arthritis issues - so I'm just not sure what I will do. I prefer to do measurements in the mornings - and they are usually pretty hectic - but I will get them done and posted to my blog soon - I promise. Best of luck folks - and - do we have to post pics of ourselves in a swimsuit? I guess that would be some more motivation... |

Champion 6107 Out running or enjoying a fine glass of red... | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge: Swimsuit Edition Progress made! Down to 181.4 this morning on my weigh-in day. Thankfully I'm one of those 90% of all human beings that are motivated by progress, so this should buoy me through the next couple of days. However, I have a very important dinner on Thursday night - not excited about the food offered (fish dish w/ potatoes or noodles - I wanted to pick steak w/ veggies only please, but that wasn't offered)...I'm sure the dessert will be lovely - hopefully the fish will satisfy me enough that a bite of the dessert will be sufficient. That and keeping my eyes on the end goals. BTW - who plans a celebratory dinner and only offers fish or noodles? Seriously? I worked 7 years for this? Give me a big piece of meat already. |

I'll stick to my Friday one then. Where is that spreadsheet at? I'd love a look. You're not talking about the one at the beachbody site, are you? I think it was on beachbody there are a few options to print out pdf's or download other formats. I really liked using the excel sheet because I could type it in as I went instead of trying to write it down and transcribe later. Let me know if you can't find it and I'll look it up or send you my copy. You might think about giving yourself an extra rest day or two from P90X with your volume of running (i.e., alternate giving up either plyo or kenpo every week). There is a thread on beachbody about tri-training and runners being obsessed with exercising too hard (----> guilty ). I think the gist of the article was to make sure that you don't overdo it (hard to resist doing a little extra when you are pumped up). Just pay close attention to your body and listen when it tells you that it is being overworked (especially with all of the mileage you are doing in addition to P90X). My back and shoulders were the biggest gainers. I was especially happy to be able to do more than a couple pull-ups while weighing 200lbs. You'll do great! Let me know if you have any questions.

I've heard that a correct portion size for meat is the size of your fist. Does anyone have some other insights they can share? At this point, I don't really want to weigh everything out but if I have to, I will. Thanks for your help. |

Regular 137 Lansing, Michigan | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge: Swimsuit Edition oh, and just sub out cheap-o protein bars (premium brand protein bars are 30g of protein per bar without a bunch of sugar) and protein powder for the beachbody brand ones that they want you to buy. |

Master 2177 | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge: Swimsuit Edition Kristen: Yay for progress! I'm motivated by progress too. I'm less likely to whine about training if I'm seeing results! Bummer on the limited menu. I would be just eating noodles. I'm squeamish about eating fish I didn't cook unless it's mahi or salmon. Tom: Someone just told me about replacing parts of the workout with running. I think I may just skip out on plyometrics. I get quite a bit of that during Sunday soccer games anyway. Hurts my knees too! I like Kenpo, but could really use the yoga. Hmmm... which one. Thanks for your help! I'll have a look at the site for that worksheet. I like plugging in numbers too. Excited about weigh in Friday! I think I might be back down to 136 again after that spike last week. Yay! I've been working hard these past couple weeks and eating so well. |

Expert 1163 | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge: Swimsuit Edition Good morning! No gain or loss for me today, but that's probably a good thing, since I had been sick the week before and had lost 2 lbs from not eating very much. Now I'm back to eating normally and didn't re-gain those 2 lbs, so I'll call that a win for this week. |
