Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Friday weigh-in: 166.0 (down from start of 167.6 at New Year, down from 168 at start of Down for the Holidays). Slowly but surely is how the turtle wins the race. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Weigh In - 140 lbs. I'm not surprized that I'm up a couple pounds. Had some chips (as in a large bag myself over 3 nights). Also have a cold that is just hanging on, I probably have 2 lbs of assorted mucous and goo in my lungs, nose and eyes. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Reporting in! I was 133 this morning, which is only down 0.5, but I just did my official weigh in two days ago. I've been eating great, although tonight is one of my cheat days. My Sunday brunch cheat day was postponed though, so hopefully I can reign it in over the weekend. I also finally went to the doctor about my ear being messed up, but it turns out it's okay, it just needs some time to clear. That means no more excuses and I'll be starting my regular workout week next week! I'm also sipping on some cucumber water (even got an English cucumber for it). Thanks for the suggestion, it's great! |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Weighed in yesterday in socks and boxers. Holding steady at 232lbs; 7 above target. Felt pretty scrappy yesterday, too, so I was only able to wedge in 13 miles of riding at an average of 165watts of power output. Feeling better today, so the half-marathon training will continue. 5.5 miles planned for today's run. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I was at 135.2 this morning (up just a tad from first weigh in) but I'm not surprised as the new year is not treating me well with a bad cold that has stalled my workouts. Hoping to get back into the routine by tomorrow. I have four weeks to reach my goal of 131. A pound per week will be tough for me, but need to shoot high! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() AbbieR - 2013-01-03 4:18 PM Does anyone ever look at what everyone else has in their shopping carts while at the grocery store? The woman behind me at Whole Foods had 5 french baguettes, 4 pints of ice cream, 2 containers of shredded cheese, milk and a head of romaine lettuce. I kept thinking the only thing in her basket that I would eat is the lettuce. I do since taking over the shopping, but typically only after I look at the person/family surrounding the cart. Oddly enough average family body fat percentage in proportional to the amount of junky processed items in their cart. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hi everybody, I'm a few days late to the game, but I'd like to join you all. My name is Linda and I am in ok shape, but have let the pounds creep on over the last couple years. I'm 5'2" and 131 lbs right now. I used to be consistently around 115 (before starting two years of IM training) and was happy with that weight, but would ideally like to get down closer to 110. My problem is snacking - I go for the snacks when I'm bored or stressed. I go in spurts of tracking calories, and do really well when I'm logging nutrition, but if I blow one day, I tend to let that turn into a few bad days or a whole week or more. It's relatively easy for me to lose weight, but it's really, really easy for me to put it on. Short term goal: Stay on track with nutrition/logging. Long term goal: To get to 110-115 by the end of May. I made my husband promise last night to take me on a beach vacation if I can get to my "bikini body" by the end of May, LOL. But mostly, I just need to be able to fit into my old clothes again! I call the day before Thanksgiving "fat pants day" because I had to go buy some. It was not a proud moment for me. I also want to get closer to my ideal race weight by mid/late May, because my peak IM training for Vineman will start around then, and I don't want to be trying to lose weight at that point. Cardio: Today will be day 37 of at least 30 min of cardio/day, so my goal is just to keep that up. Strength: I've been pretty good at attending weight training classes at the gym a couple times a week, so I want to continue doing that. I don't think I'm going to necessarily plan any cheat days - I know they'll happen, though. The key for me will be not letting one day's bad choices start another downward spiral. I just need to remember that in the grand scheme of things, one day won't kill my progress as long as I get right back on the horse. I will do a weekly weigh-in on Fridays – I absolutely need that accountability! – and I love the idea of weekly pictures. Don't know if I'll be confident enough to post any publicly, but maybe I'll do an "after" pic if I finally meet my goal. ![]() |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey Linda. welcome to the group! I am down 5 lbs from the beginning of the holidays (6 weeks ago). Not as good as I would have liked but dam good considering is was THE HOLIDAYS! I won't be weighing in next week, I'll be on vacation. My goal for the next 2 weeks is to keep losing, at least a little, while on vacation. |

Thanks Abbie. so glad this week is over. I covered for 2 of my partners, and of course when flu and other virus activity is skyrocketing off the charts so this has been a horrendous week - so especially pleased that I pretty much stayed on track |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Down .7# this week- a very modest loss but at least a loss considering I am struggling with the food at night. I usually don't get home till 7 pm and it is a struggle not to stuff my face. But soup helps and has a high volume-that and a small protein shake can do it if my mind doesn't wander! Lets keep the momentum going! C |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Welcome to the group Linda! Day 5 Unsweetened....so far so good. Sugar cravings are going away...yippee! Getting my vitamins in each morning, still not having a green juice everyday, but close to it so far. ONly missed 1 day without a green juice. Dealing with a sore throat at the moment which I'm hopeful will not turn into something much worse. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Daughter's birthday yesterday - cake was eaten. But it was a good cake...I didn't waste my cheat on any nasty old dried up crumby thing. Mmmmm. Ukrop's sheet cake. So good. But that's it for the cake - yes, there's cake left over and also some cupcakes left from the party today, but I will not be eating them. ![]() Went back to logging my food at myfitnesspal - I hate counting calories and I eyeball things at best. I love paleo since I don't count, but I also just want an idea of what is going one. But my biggest problem is the estimated calories (sans exercise) it gives me...I feel like it's way too low, but I'm not really sure how to adjust. I know I should play around with the numbers and see what works for me, but I'm too lazy. Anyone have a good calorie calculator site that gives base calories/calories for weightloss/etc.? |

You can adjust base calories based on your lifestyle and exercise. It also allows you to create recopies and analyzes them for calories and nutrients. I cook at home a lot and using the food choices from restaurants or packaged food doesn't accurately reflect calories or nutrition. The good thing about this site is the tracking of so many nutrients, too. |

Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Down 2lbs this week! Can I get a "woot woot"?! What kind of scale do people have and like? I am using a huge old heavy metal one from the 70's no kidding! To '"recalibrate" you lift it up and put it down again, some kind of ballaster moves inside, I can feel it and then the needle moves..haha Maybe I should upgrade. What do you Downers use? |

I got a bodymedia band last year because I KNOW I do not burn what various calculators and sites say that I do. Part of being hypothyroid I guess but such is life this is what I have to deal with - anyway it calculates the calories out and i use myfitnesspal for the calories in. seems to be working. |

Definitely a WOOT WOOT! We use a Tanita digital that we bought about 7 years ago (so it's probably ancient too). S'posed to be rated very high, keeps track of 2 people's weight (hubby and I were both losing at the time). |
