Bates has always sort of given me the creeps and I feel sorry for Anna because she's thrown herself at the first man that looked her way... What do you guys think??? |

Prison isn't a nice place, and you don't stay out of trouble by proclaiming your innocence and being super nice to people, especially in the time period of the show. I think Carlisle is definitely a prime suspect (or should be). He first learned of the story of Lady Mary and Mr. Pamook(sp?) from Mrs. Bates. I think at the time of Mrs. Bates' death he was still engaged to Lady Mary, and was still acting to suppress the scandal story. If he didn't trust Mrs. Bates to keep her end of the deal in suppressing the story, then it's not too much of a stretch that he ( or more likely, someone he employed ) poisoned Mrs. Bates. |
