I am new here and was thinking of participating as well. The SCT is near my house but from what I can tell everyone is doing the Cartersville Century? I was thinking of joining the rest of you. I generally ride 40 on the SCT and have not tried anything farther but still feel good when I am done. What is the average pace on a century?
Thanks.
There are several different options for the Cartersville Century. Here is the link http://www.cartersvillecentury.org/. If you saw Courtney's list there are several doing 100, several doing 55, and I know of four people in the group that have said they want to do 30.
As far as pace goes, there will be a lot of people there so there will be a lot of different pace groups. You are obviously welcome to join our group. It may split up into smaller groups just as the whole will be splitting into smaller groups. I would recommend coming and figuring it out then. I rode 100 the other day and averaged 15.6 mph. There are a lot of people faster and there are some slower. I have done rides like this by myself before and I just find a paceline going at a speed that I am comfortable with and ride with them.
I did a ride last year and wound up doing the 75 mile option with one guy that I had never met and still had a really good time. I hope this helps. Do not feel shy about showing up regardless of your riding ability. |
