Mine are boring flat grey with royal blue swooshes.  No wonder I'm so slow - my swooshes trudge.  They even slow me down on my bike (don't currently wear cycling shoes).  My chain ring and my shoe lace got into an argument recently when I was out for a ride.  Fortunately I pulled my foot free before I fell off.  Now I make sure the laces are well tucked in before venturing out.  I have some Yankz but am saving them for the new shoes I'm hoping to get this month.  Maybe they'll be faster....

Since we're comparing.... Loves my Pure Connects

Um. These are beautiful shoes. I like the purple ones. And the blue ones with polka dots. Shoes have gotten much nicer in the last for years. This is what I have to look forward too!

This is such a fun thread!

Really enjoying reading about the races - congrats to everyone who raced and good luck to everyone racing. I'm also enjoying reading about the shoes.

This week was fun. I took my bike into the shop and it will be ready Wednesday. In the meantime...I'm going to run and swim and strength train. Yep. Today's run was fun. I even have my own personal travelling aid station!

Excited! Headed out for our first long road ride since Oct/Nov. We're going to explore around South Mountain where we like to trail run/ride.

YOU. ARE. AWESOME!!  Great job, Kirsten!

Congratulations!  It's great to see all of your hard work pay off!

Yanti, see how Kirsten plans to get her RR up in the next few days?  Not the use of days, not months or years.  ;-)

Congratulations Matt!!!

And Yanti does not need any encouragement with her RR, she is letting the experience marinate. War and Peace wasn't written in a day.

It may not have been written in a day, but it couldn't have taken more than 10 months

Great job all you racers this weekend. You really are an inspiration.

Last night I mapped out my next 12 weeks training, with a run focus and a 12k race at the end of it. I am using a Barry P 3-2-1 plan. My question is does it make any difference if I base it on time or distance? Is one better than the other? What do you recommend and why?

I've never used the Barry plan, so can offer no insight, but I'm happy to see you'll be able to get some training in now that the pups are gone!  I guess you're doing a run focus cuz you're getting those new shoes !

MOST people that I've seen use distance, but I've seen a few using time, so don't think it means you have to. Seems to make more sense if you're trying to track volume build?

Ah-ha. Here's a fairly recent thread talking about it.

It works with both. Most of the running is done at an easier effort so it doesn't really matter in matching the ratios for those as they should come out about the same. And even with faster running, add in a good warm-up, cool-down (you're doing these right? ), and any easier running between intervals and it may not necessarily be *that* far off. Remember that the ratios are a guideline. They don't have to fit exactly. So just try to keep a 2 closer to a 2 than a 1 or a 3.

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
