Is anyone else racing?

In case you missed it, this week we've been discussing smart trainers, smart trainer apps, disc breaks (mechanical versus hydraulic), and puppies.

Good luck, racers!  Be safe, be fast, and have fun out there!

I am!  I'm not 100% ready for a new dog, but know I will be soon and  timing works better getting the pup now so he will be older and not as dependent when I start IM training again.  I'm getting one of the males from this litter.  Pups are 2 weeks older than they are in the link.

SO CUTE! That is one big litter--is that typical for this breed? My little kitty was one of nine, the biggest litter ever born in the ARC (Animal Rescue Center--local animal charity that rescued her pregnant mom-cat) foster system. They had something on their Facebook page that day about the litter (born on my birthday!) and my friend forwarded it to me with the comment "Birthday Present?") Didn't do anything about it at the time, but two months later I went on fall break and boarded my big boy at the foster home--they take paying boarders for extra $ and he had boarded there since he was a kitten; we got discounts as his mom was a rescue, too. Unlike most cats, Smudgee is Mr. Social and ended up making a new best buddy at the foster home--it turned out to be one of the little females from the litter. I didn't have the heart to separate him from his "baby"--this is how I ended up with two cats.

As adults they are just like Mutt and Jeff. Still BFF's who do everything together, but he is a gentle 17 pound giant and she is a dainty 6 sprite. So cute!

it’s weird, the breed is a mid-sized breed, but they seem to have really big litters for the most part- at least the ones I’ve seen.

So cool that you have best friend cats!

Yes, they are all cute while they are sleeping/sleepy.  They are not so totally cute when they are awake and loud and crazy!  But the cuteness gets them out of a lot of trouble.  Bart is almost 6 months and doesn't nap much anymore....how come they sleep all the time as wee ones, then don't ever sleep as teenagers, then when they are all growed up they nap lots again?  Guess puppy moms are not much different from people moms in that we wish we could skip the teen times!  I have done no training to speak of in the past two weeks as SO was away with the two older dogs in Tennessee at Nationals.  Just lots of long walks with puppy and dog, which is not a bad break

Good plan, Ann-Marie, on not having a crazy pup while IM training .

Stacey, that's a lot of pup.  But you have a lot of dog in general!

yes there is A LOT of dog in our house at present. The combined weigh of the 8 puppies last night was 70kg (that's 150lb). When you add our adult dogs into the mix we currently have 15 dogs and their total weight is in excess of 665kg (that almost 1,500lb).

Just registered for Santa Rosa 2018.  My coach and I decided to do it back in July.  Hoping that the community benefits greatly from the race after the devastation of the fires.

Excellent! You'll have SO MUCH FUN! It's a beautiful area. I'd love to go back there in a few years. I wanted to give them time to get fully settled on the course. I'm not sure the earlier 140.6 date will work well for training here in NC so I may look at the 70.3 in the future. We'll see ;-)

Found an amazing single track trail near my hotel this morning. It was great had some really steep and rocky sections as well as a rock water crossing. When you look at the time it took to cover 4k it looks like I was out for a morning stroll, but it was really tough and coming up out of the gully I actually had to stop and sit down on the rock to get my breath back. I even drew blood. But I loved it and have been smiling about it all day.

How did I not know how much fun trail running is?

Proof of life post...

Great stuff going on in here!

Congrats Hands for signing up for Choo and for opening your heart to a new puppy!!!

Stacey, trail running is awesome. I'm glad you found it. And I love all the puppy poundage (kiloage doesn't sound as catchy) at your house!

Kirsten, awesome that you signed up for Santa Rosa, and awesome that you did it to help the community.  I did a century there this summer and a friend of mine did IMSR this year. So sad that they were devastated by the fires.

I must admit that in the far back corner of my mind I am considering which IM's I would do... Choo... Santa Rosa... Florida looked interesting this year...
