Hmmmm... It's the course I just did. I'd like another crack at it... It's the weekend in between the two centuries that I'm doing. But I figure all the riding will only help. Right? Are you really asking us???? Naw. You know better than that. Have fun! I know right? |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Originally posted by StaceyK What have i done? Help me I have created an exercise monster! So I have this great friend at work that has been morbidly obese for her entire adult life. She has done every yoyo diet that you can think of and then some. In October last year she started the Dukin diet after a number of other people at work had lost a fair bit of weight doing it. So a requirement of the diet is that the person must walk for at least 30 minutes 5 days a week. This was like telling her that she must climb Everest every day. So she asked me to keep her accountable and told me I had to make her check in every day to tell me if she had done her walking. So we have some great weeks and some not so great weeks but 10 months later she has lost 40kg (nearly 90#), she has about 15kg to go but more importantly she walks most days and on Saturdays she drags her husband out for a 10km walk with their dogs. She travels a bit and now will not stay at a hotel that doesn't have a gym or fitness facilities and checks the distance from the train station to the hotel so that she can walk instead of taking a taxi. She is talking about doing a fun run with me early next year - insisting that she will only walk because her knees cant handle running but even that is a huge thing for her because 10 months ago she was too embarrassed to exercise outside in case someone saw her. She is talking about a poolside holiday in Bali in April with her new bikini body, so now I have to get cracking so that I can join her and blind all of Yanti's countrymen with the whiteness of my skin. I can't believe the change in her and I am so very proud of her. Her exercise regularity puts me to shame and is making me embarrassed about how easily I find better things to do than the workout that I had planned. Very cool, Stacey |

I'm still not sure if I will go but if I do I will fly over on Thursday and back on Sunday night. I will get back to Perth at about 10 which means I couldn't get to Busso before midnight. But I would be home in time to party with you and Yanti on Monday as long as Kingsley doesn't try to kidnap her. I just checked and I could get an earlier flight home which would mean that I could get to Perth by 6:30pm and if I left for Busso straight away I could be there by about 9:30pm. Yanti would probably be finished by then cause she is going to smash Japan and then be even faster by December ![]() Edited by StaceyK 2013-08-29 10:09 PM |

On a different topic, the BAA decided to let in about 9K more runners this year for the Boston Marathon. It will be 2K short of their biggest, but still pretty forkin' huge. I can't even believe it's almost time for registration. It falls at a great time for me as I am juuuust getting back into "yellow" exclusive. I had my first track workout last night since I have been back. Most of the team is doing a big HM this weekend so the workout was 4.5 miles at HM pace, 4 minutes rest, and then 3 x 800 with 2 minutes rest between. I just helped* pace my friend for the 4.5 then ran the 800s at my pace. It felt good to run on the track again!
* I'm a little rusty, refer to blog I saw that announcement as well. I like how they are staggering the registration to let the "fasties" have first crack at it. I started the book you sent and have a hard time putting it down. I got to my hotel room at about 10:30 last night and thought I'd read "a little bit" to relax. Yeah... it was more than a "little bit" before I finally put it down. And speaking of my hotel room... would you PLEASE put a SBux in Taos. I tried 3 different local Joe joints over the three days and wouldn't go back to any of them! The chai was overpriced and lower quality than SBux |

You definitely can't eat an apple, orange or mandarin without sharing and given that there is 6 of them it doesn't leave much for the person involved. I just brought home a Tuffie Larry Lobster toy for my dogs and after an hour and all of them having a chew and pull on it they haven't managed to rip it apart. This is a major accomplishment for any toy in this house. The other toy that I got (from another tuff toy company) at the same time lasted the grand total of 12 minutes before one dog had managed to rip it open and spread the stuffing around the room and they were both under $20 so I know which sort I will be buying again. |

Enjoy the weekend, race well, train hard, smile lots, and do something that scares you. Heal up if you are on the DL. That is simply one part of Guy Code. There are many that we all know, longer quotes that are used on a weekly basis. Then there are the shorter ones, generally there is Caddy Shack ("this is my friend, Mr Wang, no offense"), Godfather ("You gotta go to the mattresses"), etc. Throw in a Die Hard every now and then ("just the fax, ma'am") or something from Ahnold ("I'll be bahk") to cross it up and you are good to go. My personal go to is Bachelor Party, an early Tom Hanks movie, but that seems limited to a small group of my friends. |
