I read her bike pace as mph not kph.  It took a cup of coffee for me to process the whole kilometer per hour thing.  I must be channeling Yanti's foggy head right now.  Hoping that Yanti has some hot piglet booty as eye candy on her run!   Run Yanti RUN!!

Accuweather forecast for Toyako-cho on Saturday: Cloudy; a couple of showers in the morning followed by rain and drizzle in the afternoon.  The expected high is 69 degrees and the expected low 60 degrees.  0.14 inches of rain expected in the afternoon and 0.2 inches expected in the evening.

The Weather Channel forecast for Toyako-onsemmachi, Japan on Saturday: Mostly cloudy. High 74F. Winds ESE at 10 to 15 mph.  For Saturday evening they are saying: Showers early becoming a steady rain late. Low 66F. Winds SE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 70%.

Embarassed I guess I didn't take that off my dashboard...I won't be racing on Monday.  Shoulder is still too sore.  So I guess I should officially be on the DL. Frown

Based on the time of the email (assuming that its WA time) I don't think that she would have finished. It was sent about 14 hours after she started. So it was sent only 3.5 hours after she started the run.

Damn. woke up and went to the ironman site and was so excited to see she was able to finish the bike. Then saw the news here . The weather looked absolutely dreadful! Hope we get more news soon.

I've been in contact with Yanti. She missed the bike cut off by about 1 minute and ended up in hospital.

Yanti crashed 3 times on descents in the closing stages of the ride in the wet and very windy conditions. Her special needs bag that was supposed to be at the half way mark was at 140Km so she suffered from severe dehydration, lack of food and hypothermia. The regular aid stations also ran out of supplies.

She knocked herself out in two of the crashes but kept going when she came too. She has a concussion and apparently had a seizure on the way to hospital but checked herself out after being warmed up and rehydrated (she isn't thinking straight at all). I convinced her to go back under observation and she's on her way now in a taxi.

She'll contact me when she gets there. As I learn more I'll let people know.

Glad to see that Kingsley has got her to go back to hospital. Not a good idea for her to be by herself if she has concussion.

I wish someone else was there with her.  Fortunately, Kingsley convinced her to go back. I heard on FB that she is there now.  She actually just checked in - sounds like no biking for her for 6 months.
