If Quassy wasn't 5000 miles away, I'd consider it.    No Eagleman?

Fred D - 2012-10-17 8:39 PM Quiet group tonight lol. I'm feeling pretty tired from work and the recent weekend of call. I'm on call again tomorrow but then will get a 3 day weekend which hopefully will involve some serious cycling. Work is getting too crazy. The world of medicine and especially in the billing and admin aspects has become somewhat disastrous. Still love my job, but there has been a sharp decline in this 'business' aspect of the job.

9.5 hour drive is turning into 10.5 with stops...argh. Kids are falling asleep and my wife is driving, so I can fire up the computer and log into BT, which is nice ;

Fred, you may have mentioned this before, but with your hectic work schedule and the constant strive for balance with family and training, curiosity has gotten the best of me. What is your line of work?

Fred D - 2012-10-17 8:44 PM Ok, group question. I spoke to James tonight and we are IN for Quassy 70.3 in June 2013. Is anyone else interested? This could be a mentor group race meet up. Would be very fun in my opinion. Chime in if this sounds good.

Love the idea...but SO FAR AWAY!!!

Sounds great!  but no way I could do both an early June and late June 70.3...

Work was crazy and was traveling. Trying to catch up a bit soa am way behind. I get a massage every two weeks this last season and believe it played a part in me not getting injured this year. Also, that cycling blog is by a guy in my 'hood. The ride descriptions are rides we commonly do, but not with his groups. Check out some of his vids on YouTube. Hilarious

. I'm a physician who takes a lot of on call work as well. Not ideal for tri training but I do like my job (mostly)
I was lectured on the harsh reality of medicine while in the OR yesterday and the billing and craziness. Good thing I have 6 yrs before I have to really worry about that. I did find a great topic to distract surgeons with from the fact that I know nothing about more or less anything in the OR: bikes. Works everytime! sorry Fred. I would use it shamelessly on you if I were in your OR....I'm stealthy...

As much as I wanted this to happen, it doesn't look like this one is going to be an option for me.  More dollars than are feasible for me.

Good luck to Andy and Brian at B2B this weekend (and everyone one else headed this way).  Welcome to the greatest state in the Union!  Compared to last year's nightware, it looks like you'll have the weather on your side.  If you happen to start in a wave with the relays, watch out for my wife.  She'll swim over you in a second.

Speaking of killer swim sets, here's what I put down yesterday:

300 w/u; 2x(5x100@2:00); 200 c/d

Yeah, well next time I think about staying out of the pool for 2.5 months, just remind me I'm an idiot.  I will say yesterday was much, much better than Tuesday's "Oh my god, I can't swim anymore" set.

I'll be away this weekend. I am attending a Kettlebell instructor training class in New Jersey. I'll be staying on the north side of Trenton. I have 44 miles on running as of today so the next three days will be just short runs. My next long run will be Monday then I will get back on track. I still need to figure out my marathon taper plan. Any advice?

Triathlon was not even on my radar in the 20-24AG.  I remember being at the bar during that timeframe LOL...maybe that is why that AG is easier!

horrible run today.  First I had very little sleep over the last few days (something I've been struggling with lately) and so, well, you all know what that does to your run.  But then as I was getting close to home I was attacked by a dog.  I tried to run to the other side of the street, hoping it wouldn't follow me that far out of it's yard but it kept coming.  I started to yell at it to go (clearly was never taught that command) and when that wasn't working I started to stomp down to scare it off but it actually lunged right then so I more or less ended up kicking the dog.  Thankfully that scared it off.  I almost brought my dog on this run and am thankful that I didn't.  I'm still pretty jacked up about the whole thing.

Ok, the 'IN' comment about Quassy may be premature.

Still on the fence about Columbia.

Really just worried about proper recovery before IMMT 70.3 as that is the 'A' race for me.

More to come later (film at 10....)

I would like to do Columbia as well. I like the recovery time line. Another option is HarryMan HIM or Oly on May 18th. That is in NY. I think Bobby is doing the Oly and has done the HIM.

Kim if it makes you feel better I struggled with my run as well today. Sleep and not fully recovered most likely the culprits.Dogs that chase are in prey drive and are usually all wind. When you stop the dog turn to defense (fight or flight). Luckily he chose flight after you confronted him.

Wow, sorry to hear this Kim and glad you are ok. Also glad that you didnt wind up with a dog fight. You've been running with the pooches quite a bit. As for the sleep issues, was hoping that would have gotten better. Hope the day turns for the better.

James, no taper advice but I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the usefulness of kbs as a training tool. I've taken some classes at an AoS gym and liked some of the moves for strengthening glutes (one of my weaknesses). And be careful/thoughtful where you run in Trenton on the weekends. Some areas are fine. Others..not so much.
