Morning Went for a hike earlier. Planned to pack Mak, but my friend told me it was fine to let her walk. He either felt sorry for me or didn't feel like going quickly himself. Lol. About 3miles up mountain and back, and Mak did at least 2mi her own. She had a close call face planting into a cholla cactus...missed by a literal inch. Yikes! Trainer ride on the agenda for later.

Your hike sounds like fun.  Glad she missed that cactus - that could have been a disaster!

Trainer rides are probably a wee bit safer.  I typically don't hit cacti inside my house.

From what I heard, yup, you are right where you should be!    Hang in there, Jonathan, just a week and a few more days...

Nah. He's probably dying. At the very least, a broken foot.

I know this is referring to something but I just can't remember
Memory loss is the first sign
I put my car keys on the fridge so I would remember to take a container of milk to the office......15 minutes later I couldn't find my car keys. Looked everywhere for almost a half hour. Even blamed my kids for taking them. Then when I opened the fridge to get the milk that I didn't want to forget I found the keys that I forgot I put there so I wouldn't forget.

I shouldn't tease someone in taper, but it's all part of the adventure

If I behave myself I am sure I can run easy before the end of the 6 but I have to be perfect in that first week or so.

Apparently I have the option to have traveling nurses come to my house to pack my wound? Huh, I am such a rookie.

I'm going to execute this like a race "plan."

It sounds like it is going to be pretty painful though. I mean, it's been painful all this time I've been living with it so I am sure I can handle it. I guess I should stop reading horror stories on the internet though.

BAH - recover time is shorter for a SUPERHERO like you!!

In all seriousness, YEP just do it, get it over with and come out GANGBUSTERS on the other side!

(and enjoy the pain meds while you got 'em)

Ahhh, that's from Hyperbole and A Half. Has anyone read her comics? She recently came out with an illustrated book about dealing with depression in the present tense ( which is kind of unheard of) it was really good.

Just stalked looked at the race and it does look like Trap Pond one will be prettier and more fun.  The bad part is it's further away from me!  I was considering trekking to DE for the day to race with you and meet up but lower DE is probably close to 3 hours for me.  I was hoping it was in northern DE, not as long as a drive!

Yeah, I thought of meeting up too.  Bummer!  I don't get out that way too often either (last time was like 2006 or something?).  I'll be in Dover M-Th and flying out of Philly on Thurs.  Probably not worth it for you to make the trip down to Dover for dinner or something, huh?  I don't know the flight schedule (DH made the arrangements); I suppose we could meet at the Philly airport.  PM me if you want to discuss further.  It'd be fun to meet a fellow Manatee!

Funny! The other night our lab/gsh mix managed to get a small cut on her front paw. DS1 bandaged it up and she just lay on the ground holding it up quite dramatically as if to say "how long do I have to live". She is our dramatic one. The pb/lab mix is our "simple" one but he's always happy.

GO RACERS!!!

Janyne, I've seen your Strava invite and I don't mean to ignore you, I just really don't like Strava. Granted, it's been a while since I have used it but my workouts continuously failed to upload. And it was a stretch for the non-tech lover in me to even bother to track the workout. For it not to work was a totaly PITA. So, that's where I am at on that.
