I'm guessing that your trip to WA next week and IM WA have both been shelved for a while so that you can recover. I am very sorry to hear that Mutti isn't well and about your friend's mum and that she will have to deal with this alone. Thinking and praying for her. I am really glad to hear about your niece though you have to have some sunshine in your life. I have a new nephew due any day now (kinda sitting here waiting for the phone to ring). That will make 10 nieces and nephews for me and I'm going home next week so hopefully he is born before I get there and I get to see him, otherwise it will most likely be after Christmas.

M-hmmm and why would you think that?!

I'm still coming to Perth. Ironically I have to leave the country before Sep. 18th anyway (before, because of ever changing rules regulations and bureaucratic arseholes wanting payoffs it was I COULDN'T leave the country between Sep. 11-18).

Officially, IMWA is off the table. Frankly the way I felt after IMJ I retired from triathlon! I'm pretty sick.

But because I'm pretty sick, I'm considering considering IMWA. Not actually considering it ... just considering the consideration of it. All trainer and either super-easy treadmill or soft-sand running.

But we'll see. Today I'm still in the shytts so we'll see what tomorrow and the next few weeks bring.

Seriously, don't be an idiot.

^^ This.

Seriously

I'm going to sign up for a 25k trail run through the Everglades. It is in February.. He is a short video of this year's run. A camera was mounted to a tree and it filmed not only the runners, but a bunch of wildlife. Florida panthers are very rare, but apparently they like this race!

once again I can't post a link that works. If one of you computer type people aren't busy ....

Very cool!  I watched the Nat Geo show about North America and one of the features was on Florida panthers - I didn't even know panthers lived in Florida!  Such beautiful animals.

What a crazy weekend for our racers.  Sounds like good decisions were made and that Yanti is going to be even stronger than ever. 3 crashes and still almost made the cutoff.  That's pretty Bad AZZ girl!

Awesome medals being shared

Disney run sounds like a ton of fun.

Lil bit crazy on my end.  My son is starting school today.  I started my new job yesterday (first day post training).  Had to do some last minute school shopping last night but he is ready today.

I am a pretty sad today.  I am going to have to put my cat down.  She is only 8 years old, and perfectly healthy, but she will not stop pis*ing on the rug!  I am an animal lover, and it makes me sad to even think about having to put her down, but she has no claws (so she can't be an outdoor cat), and no one wants a cat that pis*es on the rug.  I REFUSE TO LIVE IN A HOUSE THAT SMELLS LIKE CAT P*SS.

Trying not to think about it.

Chad,

I feel your pain.  One of my cats refuses to pee in the box.  I fought with him for a long time and finally just put him in the garage.  Can't bring myself to put him down--though he has some health issues.....and he is also declawed.    He has dominance issues and refuses to "share" his box.  Sadly, he doesn't use it when he is the only cat using it either....We had him on a kitty dose of antidepressants which initially helped but caused him to get so constipated that he spent close to a week getting a bowel clean out at the vet.  Seriously, I can't keep spending $500 every time the fat boy gets sick.

When these cats die I am done.  No more animals.  Copy has manners, Mocha and Oscar not so much.

Chem Dry has a great product to clean the smell of cat pee out of the carpet.  What they won't tell you is that it costs $75 per area they treat.  Oscar had done quite the number to my house and our bill was enormous.

Thinking about recovery: I know that I overpronate and have flat-ish arches. Does anyone have thoughts on strengthening feet and calves and running in a lighter shoe (like the PureCadence) or just correcting as I have been doing (running in Trance).

Reading Yanti's article made me think about taking the time to really work on my form and biomechanics instead of going back to what I was doing.

I don't imagine a lighter shoe is going to do you any favors. At least not right now, coming off of a stress fracture.

Can you point me to Yanti's article BTW?

Ann-Marie, the only way that became palatable was the fact that it is in February, and there were no pythons or hogs in the video. Is this something that you and your brothers are doing?

How many races do you want to do, 1, 2, or 3? Goofy is the FM and HM on 2 successive day. Add in the 5K and you've got the Dopey challenge. I'm not sure if Dopey gets recognized with a medal by WDW or not.

Here's the article (not written by Yanti, but she does get mentioned).  If I do go that route, I'd start over running from the complete beginning - like Couch to 5k.

OhmygoshIreallywanttofachingdothat!!!!!

I forsee much discomfort, though, going from running in 30 degree weather give or take 10 degrees, then going to FL to run this in, what, like 70, 80 degree weather.  It would totally be worth it, though.  Da-ad, do you want a visit from your favorite-est daughter in February?!

Edited to add: oooh, yuck.  3.5+ hour drive from where Dad snowbirds.
