My friend and I went to see Dallas Buyers Club on Tuesday which was brilliant, sad, frustrating, and sometimes tough to watch all at the same time. It's one of the only times I can think of when I didn't want Matthew McConaughey to take his shirt off during a movie. I still want to see Thor... for the, um, story-line. Yeah, that's it... there's a story-line in that movie, right? Yeah, we need to see it too. Movie night sometime soon for a couple's date night? Hopefully we can get to it before it is out of the theatres. YES! I like this idea!! When are you and your awesome wife free to see it? (and of course, have some drinks afterwards??)

I like the show, but I'm also a total geek when it comes to all the Marvel comics movies, so for me it was natural to want to see the TV show too. They technically owe me for 80 hours of overtime and finally posted how many people on the floor are going to be laid off in the near future. I was angry management here is the weakest I have ever worked with. But It is also sad I am getting a ton of compliments from the floor people. Most have been here for 20+ years and they are all telling me I have accomplished more than anyone else here in my time and actually got stuff fixed for them. So they are sad to see me go. |

I have to say I have been lucky 19 years worked for 4 companies in total various positions from Proc Eng, Manufacturing Eng, Project Manager, R&D, CI Eng Manager then this place. I have had 2 horrible bosses along the way and about 7 great ones. My current boss is smart but he is a problem solver and dedicated to work hours upon hours with pure brute horsepower. However his management skills are in line with a numpty. He doesn't know how to manage people at all, he gets walked on all the time and he believes that if you just work long hours that it will solve the problem. (and he is not sure why his wife divorced him) Oh and you Blame everyone else when things don't work. Its maintenance guys fault or the electrician or the stupid people on the floor. The turn over in this place has been unreal in the 2 years I have been here but they continue to blame the people that come in and quit within 6 months or so. They NEVER question their own management skill. My boss has avoided me since I quit and leaves notes on my desk of what he wants done now. But won't talk in person. Interviews my replacement right next to me in an open room. And lies to him why there is an opening. I wanted to walk out and warn the guy about how this place is losing 75% of its buisness by Oct 2014 and they lost the replacement work. Edited by Techdiver 2013-11-21 12:15 PM |

Even in MY position, I've stated that I'm not sure I want to move up or go into management but am being almost PUSHED that way. I have a gut feeling I'd be terrible at it, but am being forced to take classes to "explore" my leadership style and "identify" gaps to get me where I need to be.
