Good news: It probably won't be as hot as originally forecast!

Bad news: It may be rainy/dreary out.

Race well, Jim! Have fun!

Overcast with small % of rain per Dark Sky, but the wind doesn’t look fun at all. Good luck Jim, you’ve got it!

The forecast has been all over. It looks like the actual rain will come while I’m swimming. The roads on the first 15 miles are bad, so I can’t ride too fast in the beginning anyway. The wind is supposed to lighten up in the afternoon when I will be riding into it. I feel pretty positive. Plus it won’t be 50 with hail. I think it sets me up to take it easy to start which I struggle with and hopefully have something left in the tank for a strong 2nd half of the ride.

Stay positive and take it easy!
I hate when weather forecasts are not promissing... maybe it will change last minute and yoy enjoy the race fully.
Good luck!!!

looks like Dark Sky’s prediction was wrong - raining and already caused at least 1 pro male to fall in a turn! But wind not bad. Stay safe Jim!

Jim is out of the water, had a reasonable (for IM) transition and is on the bike.  Michelle posted a picture of him at mile 7.

Michelle saw him again at mil 70 and got a video (it's on Facebook).  Here's a screen shot from it. She said that it's raining but he's still smiling.

Jim mile 70 IMOK

He's off the bike and on the run now.  Run Jim!  Run!  (another shameless reposting of a photo taken by Mrs. Jim)

Wow--he looks great! I so SO glad Mom took no pics of me at that point in my one and only full IM. The first loop of the run was by far the hardest part of the day due to the heat and total lack of shade before sunset. Hope he has good conditions for the run!

Congratulations, Jim! Way to get it done! It sounds like you had several mechanical issues on your bike -- the new bike sure would have helped but, sadly, it was not to be.  Nice job all around. We're all proud of you and your determination.

Congrats Jim!

Sorry about the mechanical issues on the bike. I probably would have cried a lot if I had to ride in the rain!

Jim mile 70 IMOK

Now I'm hearing from teammates -- "with 5 hours of rain and bad roads that had you cleaning your pants out at the bottom of each pot holes descent. We watched crashes and tires popping like a popcorn machine "  Sounds brutal!

Congratulations Jim on what looks to have been a challenging day.

And many thanks to Janyne for keeping us informed as well!
