I hate that! I just read an article about a guy who got out of his car in an attempt to save a cat that was on the turnpike. He was hit by another car. The 75 year old woman driving that car, the would be rescuer who was set to be married in a few weeks and the cat all died. So, your choice to try to avoid it was the right choice - way better then getting yourself killed.

Guess who's going to be getting their weekends off changed? I will be switching to Sundays/Mondays off from Tuesday/Wednesdays---Only problem? I don't know exactly when this starts (I am betting in November, but who knows?), and of course, it will mean that another coworker will have to switch their days off (cause I have the seniority...)--so I may be starting some "DRAMA". Whatever--I've worked there for nearly 7 years, and only didn't change my weekends due to school. I have earned this.

On another note, I took the husband to see World War Z tonight---For those who have seen it--the nifty "treatment" they try? I turned to Clint and said "my friend Yanti could TOTALLY pull this off--she's been sick with really nifty stuff" He agreed. Don't wanna spoil it for everyone who hasn't seen it, but if you ask I'll tell you all here. Smile

Now I gotta see it!!!

You stick to your guns at work, KatieFrogCat.

HA!!  I've seen it and I was thinking exactly the same thing about Yanti being able to pull off the nifty "treatment"!

X2 to sticking to your guns at work, you've earned it!

How long until we get to see Cheshire Cat pics???

Originally posted by StaceyKSo today I went online to register for this supa sprint tri that I have done for the last couple of years. They do 3 different length races each year. I do the long course event which is fairly short just a 300m swim, 9k bike and 3k run. It is a women's only event and held to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Council and I do it in honor of a friend who passed away last year from secondary breast cancer. Anyway, this year they are doing a triple challenge where you can sign up to do all three events one after the other so this would be the long 300/9/3 followed by the medium 200/6/2 and then the short 100/3/1. I am seriously thinking about doing this and I know that you are all going to say JUST DOOOOOOOOOOO EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTnBut my question is this will be a reasonably tough thing for me to complete because of the running and 1 week later I am doing the swim leg of a HIM with some people from work. What do you think, should I shelve the triple challenge until next year or just bite the bullet and do it? There is 5 weeks until the race so I have a little bit of time to decide. (This is also one of the only races here that gives out finishers medals so the thought of the bling is kind of alluring, dumb hey?)
You answered your own question! DOOOOOEEEEEEEEEEETTT, just take it easy on the run.

Monica just reminded via inspire me that I have an update for you.

Turns out my ankle thing is acute achilles tendonitis.  Sahhhweet!  I've never had any achillies issues before so hopefully this will be a short term deal.  I ran into an ortho guy at work yesterday, and got a little professional courtesy diagnosis--awesome!  So I don't have to schlepp over to an ortho appointment today, which is nice, as I have a big grant deadline tomorrow (see how hard I'm working on it--ha!.

Anyway, now that I've read up on it, I'm quite sure that's what it is, and I think I can be back at by this weekend.  Salty and Ben have already warned me about a slow and steady rebuild, and I will do that.  Promise:)

Again, many thank yous for the inspires, PMs, and general well-wishes.  It is very nice, much appreciated, and helps a girl not feel so bummed about being on the DL. You guys are awesome. Xo.

Stacey, the cool-ness factor alone is worth a DOOOOO EEEEEEET! That would be so fun!

Switch, YAY! build s-s-s-l-o-w-l-y!!!

Hands Marie, all I can say is that when the prosecutor or internal counsel tells me to do something (or not do something) it would take a LOT for me to not follow their counsel.

And, of course, it's true. Meeting Felicia was a bright spot in an otherwise insane day for me yesterday. She is as lovely, and classy and caring as you would think (and she's shorter than I expected Laughing). There are no photos because I was a MESS!!!!!!!!!

I think I'm caught up on posts. Now off to read RR's.

I'm glad that you were able to get that professional courtesy diagnosis and that you feel good about dealing with it.  Take care and do be careful with the build up.

I would be very bummed about hitting a cat also.

Thanks everyone. I'm still upset about it. I keep trying to tell myself that it was a small raccoon or a ring tail or something else, but it was a kitty. Cry

Ann-Marie -- I did think about stopping -- I knew it was gone, but I wanted to move it or something -- but it was nearly midnight, dark, two-lane highway, no shoulder, with people going 65, so I decided I just needed to get home and that stopping would put myself at risk. It's still hard to accept that decision.

That is difficult to get past. I still remember the first time I hit a bunny. I was 17!!!!!!!!!!!!! And then, of course, there is the time I hit TWO deer driving to Denver. It's an awful feeling. A story with a happier ending, DH and I were driving the other day and a squirrel ran across 3 busy lanes of traffic a few cars ahead of us. I thought for sure he was a goner. Nope. Saw him dart back on the side from whence he came just as we got there.

Ok, NOW  I'm going to read RR's

Yeah, his chain of command apparently taught him a valuable -and cry inducing lesson. I still feel for him- I mean how often do grown men cry in front of you in your personal life let alone in your work life, especially when work is such a macho place!?

I've been wanting to visit my brother in Phoenix before he finishes up school there.  It has also crossed my mind to combine a trip with a race.  I have another friend who's moving down there, and she suggested that we all do a HM together, so it looks like I'll be doing a HM in Phoenix in February!  Yay!

Ooooooh! Which one??? February is fantastic for races!

Bummer   I think we all know how you feel.

Here's an ironically funny sad story. My roomie and I wanted a cat in college. On our way to the shelter, she hit a black cat. We were mortified and stopped, but no tags so moved it off road. We ended up choosing...a black kitten. Sweetest cat ever!Smile

oh no Felicia......poor kitty. There was nothing you could do........try not to fret too much.

Stacey you should totally do it! DH always tells me there's a difference between doing a race and RACING a race. If you are worried about being burnt out for your swim HIM then you could just "do it" and not "race it." Just my opinion

so Switch - know what graston is??? that's what helps my tendonitis....... **evillaugh**

today is an odd day at work - I'm really busy but getting nothing done.
