Sorry to hear about the sick kiddo, that's no fun for either of you.

Get your butt moving - you KNOW you'll feel better, so get to it!!

I "got 'er done"!  And felt better

Damnit people, I have work to do.  And now you're "forcing" me to look at the men's bikinis.  What would you people do without me?

Oh... you mean these (they have a non sparkly version, but really, why would you not go all the way at this point)

Any man who would rock this one, I would buy at least a beer for post-race:

In white?  Bwahahaha!

And there's a song to go with this one:

Just me or does anyone else think it would be funny to ask pink thumbs up guy for a "high five"? Innocent

I think my lonely week is peaking terribly. lol

Trainer has sat empty for three days which is very odd for me, but least I've been getting in my runs.

Erin, I want to party with you some time.  You freakin slay me.

I'm glad you're feeling better, though sorry to hear about the sick kido.  Bummer.

Thanks Manatees for all the inspires and words of encouragement and support.

Wrist is now in its fibreglass cast.  I have exercises to do heaps of times a day and i'm doing them.  Four weeks another xray and cast off and see where we are at.

I can still trainer ride, i can still run.  She said i can go to the pool but i am NOT to swim.  I can do kickboard...

Good day all, I hope all is well with everyone. A quick shout out to a bunch of you:

Monica, congrats on the Betty designation. I am soooo happy that you made the decision to go for it. And I love the new sig line!

TJ and Felicia, Congrats on finding the time to meet up, how cool is that? I know your schedules were probably quite full, so finding the time is pretty cool stuff.

Kate, I hope that everything goes as well as it possibly can for your mom. Your family is in my prayers. And congrats on the changes in schedule for you, you've earned it, do NOT feel anything other than proud.

Ann-Marie, I hope that people start to listen at work and that your young man is A-OK.

Stacey, Enjoy the races, even if you don't race them.

Switch, I hope your ankle responds well and you return to your normal hard running self. Your logs being empty hurts me just a little bit, I'm sure it hurts you a lot more. Heal up, buddy.  BTW, After seeing your race photos, I think you can pull off any race outfit you want, even gnomes and unicorns.

Kirsten, I love your new friend Trevor. What a great looking fella he is.

Ben, Awesome job at Branson.

Tom, nice ride out in the country, congrats on a good day, even if the cold was no fun.

Jo, I hope the arm keeps healing and you keep smiling,

I had a short conversation about positive thinking with Janyne, she has posted some good stuff in the Manatee Google thread. It is interesting to see different aspects of racing, especially the power that our minds play in it. I hope to really work on the mental part of things more in the winter running/race season.

Have a great day everyone!

MORNING MANATEES!! It's Thursday alright!

I'd say 50% of the time when I try to run after work I get a cramp in my side that I just can't push through. WTH? I'm thinking it has something to do with what I'm eating during the day - maybe something isn't digesting enough - I don't know. So needless to say I bailed on my 4 miler yesterday - but I cranked along just fine at 6:30am today for 7. **shrug**

Oh well. Hope your day goes well - even if you are at work today like me

Instead, what she actually had(and maybe still has) is a Neuro-endocrine tumor. These types usually show up in the lungs, and then can recur in the brain; in this case, hers just settled in the ovary. In the meantime, the docs are having her get a full body scan to make sure that there is no hidden cancer elsewhere on her body (and WHY did they not do this when she was in the hospital in the first place??????) . On the upside, this type of cancer generally responds quite well to chemo, so its not as bad as it could be. Its still very scary, and I (and my mom and dad) are very tired of the unending stream of questions and craziness. Truly, I am in that 'numb' state again with my mind going round and round with no conclusion being found.

Someone asked about the Cheshire suit--I am working on it today--it has to be done by a week from Friday, so as soon as it is I will get a pic taken and post--I promise. Today's tasks involve making the body suit part, with finishing off the feets and hands next--then all that will be left is the tail.

How frustrating for you and your mom.  Hope some definite answers are found soon and she can move ahead with the proper treatment.  ((hugs)) for you and your parents

This is scary.  I'm glad that they waited for the pathology before starting her on chemo!  Hopefully the body scan will be all clear.

Will she need follow up scans after this?

Continuing to send good thoughts your way!

Finally got the correct size Team Fight bottoms to my kit - only 9 more days 'til race day!!  Maybe if I'm feeling brave I'll post a pic of me in it like TJ did, although I definitely don't have the bod she does!  They trimmed about 7 miles off the bike course this year. I don't know the true reason but I suspect it may have to do with either construction or road closures because FB mentioned something about working with Howard County police on the revised route.  7 miles less means automatic PR, LOL!  But seriously, I'm looking forward to a great weekend with the Team Fight gang and having a good race.  The TF luncheon Sat. and overall presence at the race is so moving: survivor wave; survivors wishing us luck as we head out on the swim; the dedication circle; knowing that this race is more than just another race; seeing the survivors out on the course showing cancer who is boss.  Really good stuff.

Nice ride report!

I know that I struggle with what to wear when the season change.  I started to keep some good notes and that has really helped.  I sometimes think that it's partially mental.  In the spring 60 degrees sounds really warm and in the fall, not so much.  The spreadsheet reminds me that I was "comfy" wearing whateveritsays in the past so I know that it'll be OK.  That being said, I totally understand that it's no fun being cold and that this is supposed to be fun!

Nice...here's what Rev3 included in their race email for Half Full:

BE SMART

and

PREPARE FOR THE WEATHER

October's weather can be variable and for the last couple of years the
temperatures at the start of the race have dipped into the 40's.  What
does this mean to you?  YOU need to be smart and prepared for these temperatures as you
expose yourselves to the elements.  We HIGHLY ENCOURAGE everyone
to wear a jacket on the bike portion of the triathlon course.  You will be
wet exiting the swim and your body temperature will dip dramatically when on
the bike if you do not protect yourselves from the temperature and the
wind.

Last year there was a very high number of participants that had to be pulled
from the bike course and delivered to the medical tent due to
hypothermia.  This puts an extraordinary amount of pressure on the support
staff and it CAN BE PREVENTED if you dress properly for the conditions.

We urge you to take an extra second in transition and dress
appropriately for the conditions.

Question for the group or maybe just for those who are vegetarians or have been in the past - I had a major issue with energy on my run this morning ( also with tripping, but that's another post )- although I didn't feel fatigued, my legs had absolutely no energy in them. Now, I've run with tired legs before, in fact, I often complain that my legs are deader than dead, but this was different. It took all I had to keep going.

In trying to figure out the cause of my distress I thought maybe my body was low on protein. About 6 months ago I transitioned to a probably 95% vegetarian diet and I kind of, but not really, worry that I might not get enough protein. But, I don't really think this week's diet has been any different from the preceding weeks' and I've not had this lack of energy feeling before, so I'm stumped.

so, have any of you had this lack of energy issue? Any vegetarians with the experience of having too little protein and how that makes him or her feel?

I guess I could just chalk it up to a bad day or lack of run talent! but I'd like to make it as complicated as possible
