Found a free computer at the hotel to check in.  The day was nice and the dinner was enjoyable.  Pretty beat, so may go through my gear for a bit and try to seperated it into my bags but just get to be early.

BTW, if you have a car.  Hit up Nielsens Frozen Custard.  SOOO good.  Once of my "must dos" when I come here.

Good luck everyone.

Good luck guys!

This one definitely has potential for EPIC...There's good juju for people doing a race in its first year.

I predict a great day.

Getting ready to head down to T1 to drop the bike and bag. Probably gonna swim too, at least for a few minutes. 59* water might keep it a short swim though.

Weather is looking real good now, a bit cold in the morning but should stay nice after it warms up a bit. Around 47* by the end of the swim will make it a cold first part of the ride, by the end it should be in the mid 60s. It shouldn't get any colder than the mid 50s by midnight. This is still just the forecast so who really knows, but I like it as of now.

rustyspoone - 2010-04-28 10:23 PM Crap! I am screwed! I was just looking through the Athlete Guide. Is there no athlete check-in on Friday? I am so used to HIMs that I never even thought this was not an option.

That sucks.  Anyway to get there today?

This came up earlier in the thread.  Hate to say it, but looking at the schedule a little earlier than two days before the race would probably have been a good idea.

This is too big to let things go to chance.

I REALLY hope you can get something to work out.

Yeah. That was a really stupid thing to do. I have done so many HIMs and check-in is ALWAYS available on Friday. I did not even give a second thought about it.

Anyway. I bailed on my family yesterday morning and drove to St George without them. Got here and checked in with time to spare. Whew! Good thing I live close enough to do that.

Later at the dinner I found out there IS a late registration available Friday morning at 8 am. But is seems to not be advertised. And I do not know when it closes.

Apparently, for whatever reason (hills, wind, etc), 900 people have dropped out. That drops the field to about 1500 minus the pros. I sure hope that is true; maybe it will not be so crowded.

Good luck all. See you on the course.

That's what I was thinking! I woke up and just thought "no way am I getting a cold this close to the race!" Oh well, I should sleep well tonight then.

Not sure what happened out there, but it was brutal...

All my training had me thinking I was going to be somewhere between 13:30 and 14 hours...  Crossed the line in 15:02.  It IS a Ironman PR for me and I finished, which is all that matters.  But it was a little discouraging.  But talking to some other racers, 45 to 60 minutes longer than planed seems to be normal.

I made two CRITICAL mistakes.  First half of the bike was WAY too hard, and I failed myself in nutrition somewhere along the way.

Congrats to all that finished!  It was a rough one.  I'm off to the awards lunch!  I can at least get a free meal out of it!

15:47 The water was freezing, the climbs were brutal - especially the wall, actually ran the whole marathoon except walked through aid stations, I am amazed at how many people just check out and walk the run leg. I thought the race support was over the top, especially the run aid stations where all the volunteers cheered like they were everyone's family members. I accomplished my goal to stay within my self and actually ran the marathon course (if 12:00 miles is running!)

I've really enjoyed following this thread, thanks everyone for your posts!

Long day for me...15:05...hour and 20 minutes slower than my time at Vineman!Swim went fine for me (apart from cramp at about 3k) and I was averaging 16mph through the 2nd split on the bike. But dehydrated and cramped at Veyo and had to take two breaks before I could get up the big hill on 18. Ran all of the first 7 miles, but then the dehydration got me...had to walk all the uphills...slowly... Finally could get fluids down at mile 23 and ran in strong the last 2 1/2 miles...definitely lifted my mood.
