Hey all, I hope the weekend was good to you.

Jen - most of the time outside of running shoes is spent in dress shoes (work), flip flops, bare feet or really old running shoes.

Janyne - Have you been keeping up with Fatty's race report? Thanks for the intro a while back.

Salty - Enjoy day 1 at your new gig!

I hope all of our racers had a great time and that the DL healed a bit. I'm getting back to it after last week's near nothingness. Enjoy whatever your week may bring.

Had to bring this one back. I LOVE his writing style and his race reports are always entertaining.

Well I decided to give my wife a surprise trip to Mexico at a very nice all inclusive resort. This was kind of a thank you for her dealing with all my ironman training lately. Her passport was issued in her maiden name and so last week I sent it off for a name change. Today...Passports offices closed. So frustrating. The trip is paid for so I am just crossing my fingers that somehow the offices re-open and I can get her passport before our trip in November

Oh no! I really hope that comes through! I remember when you didn't have to have a passport to go to or come back from Mexico ...

Friend of mine went to the U.S. Embassy yesterday to have extra pages put in her passport and she said the lines of people wanting to get passport and visa related stuff done ahead of the looming shutdown was off the hook. Serious logistics problem because you can't have people massing outside the embassy which is on high alert right now anyway due to the Asia-Pacific Economic Council being held here.

Darth Vader. That is how I sound this morning. Kinda creepy to hear heavy breathing and then realize it's just me. Looks as though, despite not being a govt worker, I'm taking a forced day off as well. Not even a walk is going to happen. Today I'm really for definite sure listening to my body. Absolutely.Undecided

Looks like a good day to catch up on Pod logs

Funny Story:

I signed up for a local nutrition class because I've always been interested in nutrition and I'm trying to get my body in the best shape possible. Part of the nutrition class includes a Dexa Scan which is a very accurate way of telling you your muscle mass, fat mass, bone density, etc.......

Now I know that I am not in great shape "Yet" and I'm far from Yanti's accomplishments, however I have completed 4 triathlons and am training for 2 half Ironmans and my first full Ironman in the next 8 months. In the last 2 years I've lost 80 pounds and 10 inches on my waist. Today I'm 6'1 weighing in at 180 pounds. After I completed the Dexa Scan the tech was proceeding to tell me how much of a loser I am because I'm still carrying alot of body fat around my organs, waist, etc....After she went over the results she told me I really need to start a good exercise program. Exercise Program??

So....Any of you know any good exercise programs I should do?

In reality it was really good information and I did enjoy hearing the analysis. I know I still have some work to do but I couldn't help but smile when she told me I should began a exercise program.

Wow! I really dislike judgemental people! Especially those involved in health/fitness. Congrats on your accomplishments. Most of us (except a couple superstar Manatees) could afford to loose some extra fluffines, but we're here and we are trying to stay active. At 6'1' and 180 I'd say you are doing pretty good Wink

Wow, that really sucks.  Sorry for any and all manatees affected by the shutdown.  Thankfully there is little to no impact on me directly but the studies I work for are somewhat affected because of the overseeing bodies not working - NIH, NIDDK, and some of the labs.

TJ, I am very sorry to hear about your situation.  Jeez...

Well, according to a certain someone in PCoJ there is no situation. It's all made up and imaginary. All the feds are out drinking and partying.

Quite frankly our family will be fine. It is a bit nerve-racking not knowing when the next paycheck will come in but we'll do ok. I work with a lady who is a secretary, GS-5-ish (low wage), single income family, who was just starting to recover from our furloughs this summer. Today she was sent home not knowing when she'll be paid again. It sux.

This sux and totally amazes me. If a private company did that there would be he'll to pay through the industrial relations system here, but the government can do it. WT...?

My sympathies for our gv'ment friends.    We need a new broom to sweep clean this mess that our "professional" politician have gotten us in.

Eat,drink, and be merry to get us through the trials of each day.

Supper was hot wings bathed in a honey/butter/hot sauce concoction.   It was served with asparagus, boiled new potatoes and french rolls topped with a garlic/butter mix.     Oh, and a couple of beers.   Don't currently have a bottle of wine in the house.  One makes do with what one has.       Will let supper settle and then run a couple of miles, making sure to stop along the way to enjoy the sunset.  Lithium rush, 't'is. Take pleasure in the simple moments, lest they pass you by.  Oh, and by-the-by, the encore presentation of the last episode of Breaking Bad is on this evening.   Best writing on TV by far.     Now, just to convince the phd chemistry squeeze or the niece, or both, to Sherpa  the up coming events.

Life is what you make of it.  It takes effort, but it's worth it.

Cool

LOL! Reminds me my cousin is a dietician and she is always emailing/texting me things her patients say......and it always starts out "I don't eat very much...."

Send her your BT Log - ask her if that's a good start.

ON another note, very sorry to hear those affected by the government shut down. It's really mind boggling to think that they can/are doing this. And over what - a match? URGH.

Wow...not the day I was expecting when I woke up this morning. Coughing and general malaise turned into 103+ fever. DH came home early because I couldn't take care of the kids. Shivering under two fleece blankets/sweatshirt/socks changed to soaking all of it through like I was lying in a sauna. I fell asleep right after I got 103 reading, and woke sweating but cooled. Everything aches right now, and DH said I looked better after giving birth to a 9lb kid. Ha! I know I sound like a baby, but I just don't ever get sick like this. It's freaky being almost totally incapacitated while your body fights off bugs.

Ick!  I would way rather have a cold than the flu.  The most recent one I had a couple years ago--everything I owned ached.  My toes ached.  It's terrible.  Let yourself rest as much as you can, fluids, and something to keep the fever down.  I hope your body kicks is a$$ sooner rather than later!  Healing hugs!
