reneehoyos - 2013-05-13 9:10 AM Manees! How are you all accessing folks workouts and race logs? I'm loving the inspires and would like to do some for y'all. Lemme know.Oh. Odd thing in the pool today. I could smell the guy in the next lane's cologne. Underwater. Ever had that happen? Every time he'd pass me, I'd get a whiff underwater. That is the first time I have ever smelled someone in the pool. I felt like a marine mammal!

Only at the Y when the old ladies would be doing their water aerobics...smelled like perfumed talcum powder.  YUCK!!

Off to final exam #2. I started early this morning. Hooray!

I will grade final exams #1 (or at least start them) while these students take these tests. I'm not going to be a very popular professor today. Lots of weeping and gnashing of teeth. Innocent

Make them cry, it'll toughen them up. It's good for them.

Dearest Manatees,

Do I want to do a 4 mile trail (mostly packed gravel fire roads) run on June 2nd?  I'm supposed to do a long bike that day, but I could do that on Saturday (a rest day?) and run on Sunday.  My training plan is a little lighter running wise than I am currently doing.

Love,

Jen

Trail race sounds fun, but I wonder how the uneven surfaces could hamper your training for the tri....

It's at Pocahontas.  There were a few sections of uneven footing, but not too many.  They also made it flatter this year. We'll see.   Would be good practice for Tavern!

How have your hips and legs been lately? Was it you that mentioned some challenges with them recently?

They've been a little sore, but I did a 2 mile over the weekend with no issues.  I think if I keep up on stretching and yoga, I'll be ok.  I have been great since yoga class on Thursday.

Renee, there is a bunch of little stuff to get used to, like "inspires", "replys" and how to set your privacy settings. And we haven't mentioned "PM's" or some of the "Manatee specific" stuff like the bike gallery.  I will say this, keep on running, biking, swimming and logging your workouts and the rest of this stuff will all become second nature. Also, there is a Help Page that may give you some pointers.

Yeah, just work on logging as that's the most important. All the other stuff can be picked up over time. Had no idea what others were talking about for awhile regarding the features as these were all new things, not like anything else I'd used before. Bike Gallery??

Ah, the Bike Gallery. It is a Google Album that we put together with pictures of nearly everyone's bike. It seems we have added to a bit lately, with Jen's new bike and Melanie's bike. I am waiting for the picture of TJ's new Felt. If anyone else has a bike pic they want to share, just drop it in here and I'll grab it and add it to the gallery.

Can I give you a better pic of my bike?  The bike store has this one of mine on their Instagram feed:

bike

Nice pic!  Is that your actual bike or the same model as the one you purchased?

I love running on my lunch break, sometimes it is the only thing that keeps me in my current job....working from home in my old training/ racing tee shirts has it's perks.

Yep, I am currently a sweaty Manatee and probably won't shower until after I ride my bike this evening.

Ok, how come the OP indicates this is a Queen Zip post, but the avatar is Salty? Anyone else see that in the OP or is it an IPad goof?

That's my actual bike! They don't keep that model in stock. They tend to keep the lower-component groups than this due to price.

Sooooo far behind!!

Yanti, I hope your visit to the dentist went well and you are on the mend

Tom, take is super slow with your knee.  I did so with my Achilles, and it is paying dividends now, where I have been having no issues since resuming running.

Renee, to access logs, just click on the 'logs' button underneath someones post.  And, yes, I too have smelt people in the pool.  I agree, gross.  I swim at 5:45am.  Why do you need cologne/perfume at that time of the day.  Surely you can't smell that badly yet!

PSA: (just cause it drives me crazy when people don't get my name right...).  Janyne is Janine with a Y, non Jane with a Y Sealed

Jen, start of training plan wooohooooo!  And I say dooo eeet on the trail run, only because I think you do much of your run training on trails right?

TJ, that looks like a great mother's day!  Very nice.  And soooooooooooo wooooooooohooooooo on the swim PR!  Way to go.

Felicia, I have to admit, I have made some students cry in exams.  Usually practical exams though.  They get so stressed the poor things.  But, the job can be stressful/fast paced, so they may as well get used to it when no furry lives are at stake.

Adrienne, those pics look fantastic, glad you had a good time.

Ok, I think that about does it.  I am working in clinic for the next couple months, so don't have as much access during the day and get behind!  Not getting full time hours though (Yell), so will be able to get on some days.

The trail may have some challenging footing, so be aware. But it is generally a softer underfoot experience, which may be beneficial.  And I just really like trail runs, so you'll make me happy!

Eeks. I am going to sign up for some track meets here coming up. I think the likelihood of being DFL is quite high.

Ugh now I need to decide which event I would like to DFL. 3K, 5K ... mile? 800??

Well, we should step outside of our comfort zone every now and then. This may be quite an adjustment for you, although I find DFL hard to believe.

Ha! Hell no but the majority of the people at these things are post-collegiates, as in the majority of the people in my running club. My DFL prediction is not modesty!

2 things I know:

1) Salty is smokin' fast. Any faster is just not right.

2) If she ever changes her avi, I may cry. She is also just smokin' hawt.

OK, I'm getting back to work now, I'm done.

Frown This depresses me if I think about it too much. I mean, of course, I can't change the past and it's a waste of time to think of "what could have been" plus, I was probably waaaaaay too immature and unfocused even just, like, last week Wink

But yeah ... I see some of my teammates who ran in college and had that really solid 10+ year base that they can keep building on while I am working my tail off to just start a foundation.

Meeeeh, I know, poor me.

I think I must be feeling sorry for myself today. Sorry guys!
