Oh, and is the power on now? Probably don't want to try mastering that before the race, but there are various things to pick up on that could be rather useful.

And then were ten...I'm also better understanding my son's fascination with these.  Here is a also a picture of him a few years back.

I only rode it once before the fit in early January, so I'm pretty used to it at this point. It feels great when in aero. Not so great when not in aero for any extended period due to how much weight is on my arms.

Wheels/power are on, but I haven't rode it yet. I've been watching YouTube videos to make sure I adjust everything that needs to be adjusted when putting new wheels and cassette on. I'll get a long ride on Sunday to check it out.

That photo of your son is classic! Good stuff.

I'm very interested in how the chickens go. I'd love to have fresh eggs.

I think my head is going to explode.  DH just pointed out that the tri I was planning to do with my best friend/former swim buddy in her new hometown is the same weekend as the Pike's Peak races.  The only way I could fit both in would be to go to the Ascent on Sat. a.m., do some brewery shuffling with the Manatee racers, then drive 5 hours to Steamboat Springs for the race.  I can guarantee that's not gonna happen.  Ack!!

ETA:  AND the Pro Challenge starts with a circuit race in Steamboat the day after the tri, then leaves from there on Tuesday.

Just updated my logs in case people thought I had been just sitting around.  Rode mostly easy this week, but I'll start ramping things up again soon.  I made up my plan for Mississippi Gran Prix, which will be a stage race on the weekend of May2-3.  For CAT 5 this will have a 21 mile road race, 3 mile TT (which sounds painful), and a 25 minute crit.

Here's my plan for it, if anyone is curious:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1G0j1WFgkcBXzKu0E7wUXXmXELdkyvYL6O-xhXlhgMj4/edit#gid=0

The "lawyer ride" is our local hammerfest/world championships where everyone tries to drop everyone for ~35 miles.  We call it the lawyer ride, because it starts at some local law office parking lot.  I'm looking forward to seeing how I do on this ride after focusing on road racing.  There's a couple of CAT 1/2 guys on this ride that makes sure it stays interesting.  Outside of that I'm focusing on VO2, as that will be key for the crit and the 3 mile TT.  The lawyer ride will be more than enough prep for the road race.

Oh wow! Big decision for you! Hadn't made the connection with the Pro Challenge! That's going to make for a busy weekend up there! I would bet that getting a room could pose difficult. Buuuut, I might mention a trip to Steamboat to DH... since we're "there" anyway

Adorable and Awesome! Fresh eggs are great, you'll get to a point that you are giving them away because there are so many.  Minor note, fresh, boiled eggs are very difficult to peel in a "pretty" manner.

Luckily DH and I can stay with my friend.  I'm really thinking about just doing a different tri and asking my friend if she wants to do that or Oktoberfest instead. That way I can be in CO Springs for the Pike's Peak races, then heading to Steamboat on Sunday night. Busy busy busy!!  If you want to come to Steamboat too, I could see if one of her friends would have room for you and your DH to stay.

Oh man. What a dilemma. How does your friend feel about running straight up a 14,000+ ft. mountain?

Well, she DID say she wants to do a HM at some point and Steamboat is at 6,700 feet with lots of mountain trails in the area so there are lots of places to train.  Her SO's mom lives in CO Springs and he'd definitely be up for the brew tour.  I'll ask.

GO CHRIS!  GO JANYNE!

HEAL, Yanti, Spanky and Jen!

Happy day of birth, Matt MS, live it up!

I've had a crazy, busy week thankfully (?!) of the work sort (thank you, new server and CodFusion migrations) and less so the Dad sort (no chemo this week because platelets were too low).  My weekend will be equally crazy and busy: two away make-up hockey games plus long ride/long run plus making spaghetti for Dad, per his request.  I've begged for a trainer workout tomorrow since I'm tight on time, plus Mother Nature decided to give us some more snow.  So far it hasn't amounted to much on the roads, but there is still a lot of slush and mess.

Good luck Chris and Jayne.  Looks like good weather for a marathon and a flat, fast course.

Heal up DL'ers.  Hope you all are feeling better soon.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO racers!!!

DL'ers, please heal.  Although the list has been shrinking of late, it's still too long and I'd like to see y'all back to your bouncy healthy selves.

Matt MS, after last weekend, you've definitely earned some cake!  Hope it doesn't look like this:

Have a good weekend, everybody.  I'm off to a fun staff meeting with topics like "Termination Probationary Classified Staff and University Staff - Due Process is Not Necessary, So What Else is There to Know?" and "Staff Meeting Changes, Office Update, and Strategic Plan Discussion re: Communication".  I can't wait.

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
