Was reading over on ST. The guy says 8' swells on the swim lol. Quickly corrected to 2' chop which still sounds hellish but made me laugh. The guy in 3rd behind Bryan is running strong through the first segment but still a long way to go. Lots of separation after that.

Things tend to get overestimated when you are in the troughs...   but that was a bit much.  However a BTer runs the swim course (devouhay) and posted a pic on facebook, he said it was extremely difficult and stressful.  BrianPBN also posted a video of the wind at the swim ext and it was absolutely howling

Agreed. Sounds like an extremely tough swim.

A day in Tucson yesterday cleaning and doing some final packing.  Then they loaded up the truck this morning and another long drive back to Payson.  Wow, Tina did that drive nearly every weekend for 4 months.  Anyways, now just waiting on the movers to get here.  Not an easy drive if your vehicle has any kind of weight on it.  And the house in Tucson just got rented out.  So now we are all set.  Woot!

glad you guys were posting Bryan updates during my drive.  Hope he kills it on the run

Thanks so much, everyone! Yeah, the day a 10:18 wins the M40-44 is a testament to how bad the conditions were. I would call the swell around 2 feet. I am very comfortable and grew up swimming in the ocean and know how to properly measure a wave height. They look so much bigger because you are at eye level with their base. You would take. Ages strokes and WHAM! You would be in a wave and your arms stopped moving! I was laughing at the absurdity but felt terrible for all the first timers who I knew they must be pulling from the water. Sighting was impossible unless you waited to crest a wave to see. And then the wind on the bike was the worst I have ever ridden in, training or racing. RR coming and it's going to be Epic,

Can't wait to read that RR Bryan.

I am in trail running heaven here.  I am going to have to convince myself to get back on the bike.  Although once I find my mountain bike shoes...  I am ready for my body to adjust to 5000ft though.  It's better already so shouldn't take too much longer.

Congratulations Bryan! Looks like a hard and smartly played AG win. Really looking forward to the RR. Have not been feeling things much lately and I think my plan to ease into things to avoid burnout this year may have back fired some. I decided not to do the marathon in two weeks due to a few factors and have just lacked the motivation to go long lately. Today was a small win as I had planned on only running 5 and felt good enough that I went 7. After having some coffee and breakfast got out and rode 35 miles. Was very disappointed with the speed considering the effort and realized biking a couple hundred miles in 5 months is no way to maintain any kind of bike fitness. I guess the easing in period has officially ended.

Its been a struggle for a lot of us.

Hang in there and keep on keepin'-on.

Amen.

It took me moving across the country to rediscover some passion I knew I was missing.

A local bike club's annual ride up Mt Lemmon is this Friday. I had forgotten about it, but now that I'm unemployed, I can go.

56 miles round trip, with 6600 ft of climbing. 4 full aid stations, SAG vehicles, all that good stuff. http://www.roadbikerides.com/ride/view/mt_lemmon_/117

I rode up the first 2.5 yesterday and it wasn't as bad as I had expected.

Something about "When in Rome..." right?
