Subject: RE: swbkrun Mentor Group II- CLOSED FOR BUSINESS!!!Wonderful job to all our runners this weekend. TONY, SAM, LINDA, TREVOR, MICHELLE - CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE!!! Things were a mixed bag for my friend at B2B this weekend. He has been fighting a chest cold for a while and it finally won the battle on Friday (race was Saturday ). But being the trooper he is, Paul started the race in 45 degree weather with a swim going against the current (race directors go that one wrong this year ). As we was walking back along the swim course we just happened to be at the spot where the medical jet ski dropped my friend off. He was bright red in the face and looked like he was locked in a seated position. His hip flexors and quads locked up on him half way through the swim. Luckily we were right there and able to take care of him. He was a good sport about it and we went back to the house and celebrated a great training season!! The waves on the ocean side were crazy high. We tried to go swimming the day before and ended up 1000 yards down the beach and never go one stroke in. The whole time we were diving into 6 foot waves and dodging the surfers. It was a lot of fun. Looking back and I am very proud of myself when it comes to ocean swimming. A year ago I did a Pier to Pier 2 mile ocean swim and it was my first time in the ocean swimming - I was terrified. But this weekend I saw those waves and thought, "cool, that looks like so much fun. Lets go." I've come a long way baby. |
