nice! Going to race cross this fall?

I might, if the opportunity arises.  There aren't any races close to me.  I'd had to drive a couple of hours to get to one unless something new pops up.

Yeah, but remember Bryan was contractually obligated by CrossFit® to do 10 burpees at every aid station on the run.

Usually I enter with a slightly bent elbow and wrist to start the EVF early. The interesting thing is I was much faster... 5 sec per 100. Any thoughts on entry with the straight arm versus slight bend?

Honestly Fred there is NO WAY I would start monkeying around with stuff 5 days before ironman. Especially something that I thought lowered my 100m time by 5 seconds off an already-fast time. I might just write that off as a positive effect of peak and taper; just can't imagine that you have a 5 second technique flaw at this stage of the game. You need to go and do what you know how to do. Can't wait to follow - very excited for you!!

I agree with this.  The swim of an Ironman is no time to be thinking - just swim.

Pre Ironman jitters and doubts. We all get them no matter how many or long we've been racing. I do agree with Rusty and Arend. Your swim is just fine. No need to worrie about simple things. For what it is worth. I chased a sub hour IM swim my last three IM. Only to have my last attempt go real bad with being t-boned and to wait behind a wall of people.
God, Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
Fred you are going to change alot with you bike and run.

Originally posted by Fred D Good thoughts. The issue for me in swimming is lack of consistency in times. One time I feel great and the next I'm sloppy. This will focus on swimming this offseason.

I was swimming 7sec/100M faster a week ago - I'm a total head case in the pool at the moment because I don't know what goes right/wrong with my swim stroke.  One day maybe I'll find some actual consistency - at a faster rather than slower speed!!

It happens to everyone.  I was having a great couple of weeks with some super fast times.  This morning I was back to my usual.

Piling on with everyone to wish you luck a few days early Fred, after not being around much on BT.

Seen some of your workouts flowing thru the Strava feed and you are looking good. Swim and run looking good too. Hope the day runs smooth for you!

On the road to IMMT right now. Definitely starting to get that ironman excitement feeling. The WTC really does deliver on a great service ime as you can often feel the electricity in the air when you get to the destination. Will post more when I'm not texting and driving as it's hard to type complex and elaborate dialogue and drive at the same time (pink)

Good luck this weekend Fred!

The problem with Bryan, and this happened at Escape too, is that by the time I see him, I am a hot, sweaty mess that looks like I just raced however many miles.  He looks happy fit and refreshed, like he just stepped out of a Zoot photo shoot.  Don't know how he does it.

The weather for Sunday looks great Fred!  Maybe a tad cool in the morning but almost no wind.  Should make for some fast conditions.

I finally finished up my race report from last weekend.

Wow - great race in tough conditions, Arend. Only in a race can you get experience like that - you would never go out for ride in those kinds of conditions otherwise!

Glad you guys got there safely Fred, and sounds like you are making good decisions to stay that way before race day. Good call on pulling the plug - you know the course well enough and you are more than ready.

And trust me, that picture is WAAAAAAAY more awesome than it looks.

Likely not going to be on BT much this weekend, so just wanted to post out my good luck thoughts for you Fred.  Hope the race meets expectations (whatever those may be).

Had to read the RR to understand the pic - very cool, and great job Rusty.  Oh, and holy competitive AG in this race!

I did another TT last night.  This one was 20.5 KM and once again we had foolish wind conditions, this time it was headwind/tailwind 30-40 km/hr.

http://www.strava.com/activities/180310032/

294w for 31:35 got me 38.9 km/hr

To give an idea of the wind, 18:06 at 298w going out and 13:18 at 294w on the return.
