This is hysterical! I hate questions like those because, I think, I don't like questions where there is no correct answer and I like to be correct Yes!! For example, I have 3 answers that I feel would be correct for #2 given a particular day or circumstance. Good luck, TJ! Because of that, I would probably give back weighted values on each instead of picking one. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey guys, sorry for not showing much in the last couple of weeks, but it's been crazy at work, and my kids take all my attention when I'm at home. I want to wish everyone a fantastic Holiday weekend! Have some rest, relax, train (if you have to), race well (if you're racing), and remember what this Holiday is all about ![]() I'm going camping and will definitely miss you and some of the training. See you Tuesday! ![]() |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() LOL about the 15-page coaching questionnaire. I ended up rejecting one coach because there was something like that, and NONE of the choices were true for me, for pretty much all of the questions. Everything about swimming was negative. Hey, I like swimming! Figured I wasn't his target market and he wouldn't get what made me tick. As for those questions, I would start wondering if my answers were totaled and it made some kind of profile that shows I'm a sociopath or have OCD or something. I'm the one who would go out and do the workout again (maybe the next week or a few days later), because I would want to know if I could do it, and would just sit there quietly thinking about my race. I'm sure those are related in some kind of personality trait, not so sure if it's desirable or not! I'm annoyingly persistent but not a very fast learner, and will keep trying things until I get them right--in fact I pretty much repeated an entire year of training (okay, not the same training, but with the same goals) and a HIM. The actual race felt a bit like a triathlon version of Groundhog Day. I never need music to get "fired up". I am just desperate to get in the water and start swimming because that is the only thing that calms me down.I have gotten so nervous that I have actually thrown up before the start. I hate pre-race nerves. One would think having been at endurance sports since age 10, I wouldn't get so wired up for every race, but I do! Edited by Hot Runner 2016-05-27 6:36 PM |

Wow, that's in depth, for sure. Those are the kind of questions that leave me paralyzed, and then forever questioning if I answered "right" or not. Good luck! |

My Name is Bryce and I am from Lamar, CO ( the half with now mountains) I live on the plains along the old Santa Fe Trail. How I got started was a comment my youngest son made "Dad when are you going to have a baby?" So I jumped on the bike and started riding everyday whether for 3 mile to 7 at first building up the distance as I went . I was afraid to take a day off. Didn't want to have any excuses to not start back up. So within 2.5 months I dropped close to 50 pounds. How I got started in Tri's was I was invited to be on a team for our local Tin Man Tri Sprint. I was the cycling leg. Well our runner was late so I just took off running and have not done any running in a long time, wasn't pretty but when I got done I have never felt so exhausted but yet so wired at the same time. So that is how it began. So Far I have competed in the Gator Half in Florida 2011 my first 70.3 Harvest Moon Long Race Festival 70.3 3x's had my first DNF last year. Ordinary Mortals Triathlon (Reverse Order) in Pueblo,CO along with several other local sprints. I hope everyone has a Great Memorial Day weekend and if your racing have fun. |

Bryce and I "met" online -- I think on Daily Mile -- when we were both training for the Gator Half. We talked to each other there for like 2 minutes that day :-) (Chris, you may need to update the who's been to the Englewood, FL area quiz now!) I've kept up with Bryce on various tri sites since we met. Last night, when I was browsing Strava, I was like, "Bryce should be in the Manatee group." I thought maybe we could make it so. Bryce, are you doing Harvest Moon this year? I think that Mary S is doing it (she's in Denver) and maybe Robin CO as well (she's also near Denver). |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Glad you are feeling better, Yanti. Just sad you guys couldn't make it up here for the race. Not sure if I want to do that turkey again or not--I can certainly think of more enjoyable places to do a HIM; it just happens to be one of the closest. Challenge is putting on a HIM in Nha Trang this fall, but it's right after Worlds, so I don't think so. Maybe you guys would be interested. Nha Trang's a lot closer--either a longish bus ride (6-7 hours?? Most do it overnight.) or a very short flight from Saigon. Kitty looks like she's doing very well, too. Looks like a mini Smudgee.. That is an awesome "crazy cat lady" shot. I should do one with both my critters (size XS and XL) and a shirt I have that says, "If you're single and you know it, hug your cat!" (Not relevant to you anymore.) One of my students (who, by the way, is Indonesian) was wearing one on a free dress day; I'd also seen one on the barista at the coffee shop, and I asked the student where she got it. She said she didn't know but would ask her mom. Mom ended up getting me one for Teacher's Day. Congrats to Oscar, too! He looked very fit at the Singapore race. It is always cool to win on home turf. I really wish I could have done Bintan this year, but I have used up all my personal leave days; we also aren't allowed to take leave anyway in the last three weeks of the year. No racing here--just a long run and longish swim yesterday, getting ready to do a trainer ride today--but I did book a ticket to Brisbane. (Which used up all my personal leave for next year, plus one unpaid day, plus a sh..load of $$. So I don't know how much racing I'll be doing besides that.) Need to get to work. I am seriously worried that I will end up DFL at Worlds, at least in my AG. Hopefully one of the 70 year olds will have a bad day or something and I won't be DFL in the whole thing, but I think the top women my age are doing about 4:45, possibly faster. Some lady in 40-44 (I think just into it this year) did a 4:45 at the Danang race. OMG. And I have a horrible feeling that BELINDA GRANGER is in my age group. (Can't they have an "ex-pro" category or something??) I think I need to learn how to ride a bike. Edited by Hot Runner 2016-05-28 6:55 PM |
