tri808 - 2012-05-10 8:15 PM Tom can be really weird sometimes.

Come on bro, can't you at least wait until I log off?    It was a trollish thread IMO.  Baiting at minimum.

ETA:  And Bryan, it was a lovely cat.  lol

I had to bite and ask what the product was he's talking about.

Odds are you will get back a pretty picture of an exotic animal that you've never heard of.  Or a cat.

Seriously WTF is with the pictures this guy posts??

Went for Graston therapy on my achilles this afternoon. Wow, effin' painful, but it might help.

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Hoping for the best.  Did you schedule your MRI?

No MRI for now.

Essentially he thinks its highly likely that there ARE micro tears in the achiles and that it won't add to our plan in any way. If I was more limited functionally (couldn't walk or work properly) then it would be more appropriate to do an MRI, but again it sounds like the MRI will not change the plan much as I am going to do whatever I can to avoid surgery.

Sure hope it works out for you Fred!

Busy day for me.  Got in a 1 hour run this morning, getting some work done and then volunteering at my kids' school this afternoon.  Swim later today.  But my reward:  Getting the B16.  Pretty jazzed up about that.  I already had my fit so they just need to set it up.  I pick it up tomorrow or Monday at the latest.  Just in time for our local BT training day next Saturday.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

Nice! It's so very exciting to get a new bike! This is better than Christmas ... i bet you're dying to get on it. Perfect time of year too

I got my B12 in February - more difficult to test it out. I did spend a lot of time admiring it on the trainer.

Sweet...new bikes are always cool.  Waiting for pictures....

Pretty much bonked on my ride yesterday.  Hadn't had a feeling like that in a long time.  I did manage to run this morning...but just went ridiculously easy.

This weekend is the finishing touches on my HIM training.  70 on the bike Sat, 16 on the run Sun.  Then it's just an Oly tune up race, a taper weekend, and then time to rain on Lance's party at Honu.

Training didn't go so well this week. On call yesterday but didn't get to leave the hospital until 4 this afternoon because we got a nasty gram about a session this afternoon that was mandatory to attend regardless of being post call. 32 hrs at the hospital with no sleep=too long. Going to sleep soon. Will get some workouts in this weekend. No call! Wooohoooo!

I thought they had hour limits on call shifts for residents theses days?

They do, 26 hr rule. But since I'm a student they have really only been using it as a guideline and internal med has been particularly poor in following it...we tend to get out between 27-28 hrs. And yesterday we got told since it wasn't a "clinical" session and was an "academic" on that the rule didn't apply. 4 of us were post call and not very happy. Oh well. It's over now and I got to sleep. Feeling better. Not sure what I have planned for myself today. I'm pretty happy just sitting here watching trashy TV at the moment. Haha.

38:41 this morning at the 10k. Actually had 6.30 on my Garmin. Absolutely thrilled.Short story: ran sub 6:10s thru first 4 miles...then the hills hit...like a ton of bricks...6:15 and 6:19 with a pretty strong finish for last .2. I gave everything I had and it hurt...a lot.

Fred D - 2012-05-12 7:36 AM Planning on a 3 hr ride into the mountains today. The plan will be to try to run tomorrow and see how it feels. Will run shorter and probably smarter to avoid asphalt. If that goes ok I will likely attempt Columbia next weekend. I have another Graston session this Wednesday which will hurt, but i believe it is going to add length to my calf muscles to functionally give the Achilles more length and less tightness. What's on tap today folks?

Super ride today Fred!

I got you something from Cascade Lake Triathlon, your very own water.

Great job today Ryan. I ran my hometown half marathon today. Pretty hilly course but a really nice day. My goal half marathon is in two weeks and want to go sub 1:50 so today was just about hitting a good pace. Managed to do that but the effort was harder than I had expected it to be. Could be a sufferfest in two weeks.

Awesome 10k Ryan!! Congrats on the great finish!

Fred, that sucks about the flat - these things happen on occasion, i guess but still sucks

Today, DH and i went out and did 100k.  I am slow and we were in the city - so it was slow but i've never ridden that fa r before.  When i trained for HIM i would do the course which was 94k and did that a number of times but this is my first time going past that.  It was a beautiful day - we live in the west end of a pretty big city and don't own a car so it's hard for us to plan long rides at times - we tried to stay off main roads as much as possible but being out for as long as were meant there were some really busy sections on the way back and we went on some MUP which really wasn't worth it. Bleh - Toronto has a great waterfront and it's great to use early in the morning but after that too many strollers and lollygaggers to watch out for.

I started to cramp a bit near to the end so i hopped off at a convenience store and bought some gatorade to perk me up.  Also got a little more sun than intended. I sunscreened my face but not my arms.  I need to get in the habit now, i suppose since it appears that summer is here!
