HAHHAHAHA I just found out their names ... BATFINK and CHIEF.

Tuna will become BATFINK. I love it. It's like a name I'd come up with Chief is kinda boring (although it fits her grumpy-old-man personality), but yes, let's sweeten her disposition and call her POP TART!

You guys are the best.

It is so they don't end up in the position that my company is where we have to get rid of someone after 5 months because their principles and philosophies don't line up with the organisation's and it is causing major damage to our community's perception of us. This has happened despite numerous conversations with the person prior to them commencing work with us. For your sake I hope today's (tomorrow for you) interview goes really well and is the last one and they give you the job and a wonderful pay packet to go with it. As you were

I think it's cuz they like her hair.  (he said, having not seen said mane)

Actually, I agree and further think it's a good sign.  What kind of a mess would you end up in if they didn't take care in hiring?  People are any company's most important asset, and should be approached as such.

Good luck - again (again… and again).

Could have been "Tuna" and "Two? Nah" - so I'd say the kittehs came out ahead on the name game, overall.

I like Batfink and Chief Pop Tart.  CPT's expression is exactly like my cat's every time I try to take her picture.  "Get that stoopid flashy thingy out of my face.  I don't like it and it's disrespectful.  Harrumph."  They'll be running the place soon, just you watch.

That is all, carry on.

"We" must have good genetics

I don't know why, but there was no button to allow me to post a comment after your RR!  I'll look again later just in case my eyes were too bleary from reading incident reports to see it!

Today's update on the bike search:  got my bike to the LBS, where the owner took one look and said it's not as bad as I think.  (Of course, I've been comparing it with DH's Cervelo tri and Motobecane cyclocross bikes, plus all the fancy schmancy rides I see here, so of course I thought it was a junker.)  My 2 options are to (a) upgrade components on my frame or (b) buy the used Giant OCR 2 that he has in stock for $500.  Since the cost to upgrade my bike would probably be more than the OCR, I'm going to get the OCR.  It's only a couple years old and is in beautiful shape, with an aluminum frame, CF fork and seat post, and a mix of Tiagra and 105 components. Going to get it fitted on Saturday and take it for a good test ride on Sunday.  As for the old frame I bought for $25, he said he'll give me credit for it and fix it up for somebody in the neighborhood (the shop is in a fairly low-income area).  Yippee!!

This LBS owner is awesome, I tell you.  He fabricates custom steel frames, makes and sells bowties, and stocks artisanal chocolates in his store.  The name of his shop is "Chocolate Spokes."  How much better does it get than that?!  (Unless you're Monica and don't like chocolate...)

They're very friendly but had been quite traumatized by the time they got here, for various reasons, but they are absolute sweethearts, very easy to handle, just very tentative as any animal in a new environment will be.

I will let Kingsley help with names because you all know what kind of names I tend to come up with!

The one on the left I've been calling Tuna and the one on the right, just Two. Two does NOT like having her picture taken, same expression in every shot and that's the best one

Beautiful kittehs. Of course, I'm partial to calicos...

I'd been planning to name the Trek "Critter" (the frame is a 900 Criterium).  Now I'm thinking "Oscar."  The website is chocolatespokes.com if you want to check it out, or we could just go there next time you're in town.  BTW, have you decided if you're going to do Tri-Rock in July?

Any of you have nice kid bikes for 5-6 yr old? I was looking at Specialized HotRock at my LBS but just not sure I want to pay that much for a bike for my 5yr old. It's a 20"

For those of you playing at home, I now have interview number SEVEN set up for Wednesday morning.  That's right, folks... Interview.Number.SEVEN.

And they have some testing that they want me to do before then, so... that's fun.

Holy crap, this is getting to be just a tad ridiculous - but I want Jonathan to know that I did mention him in my conversation with the attorney today when we were chatting about IMTX!

If everything works out and you get there in time then Austin's Texas Longhorn 70.3 would be a great way to get settled into Texas It's not my favorite race but it's still an Ironman 70.3 and alot of fun. And it's in October so it's not hot. I think it only got up to 85 last year

Obviously "hot" is a relative term...

Beat me to it!

Despite coming off of the first winter I can remember when the cold actually got to me (I can run in the double digit below zero zone for only SO many days in a row), I'm more than a little nervous about the 8 months of summer in Austin, as my thermostat is genetically very northern European (75 or so is my preferred upper limit!).  That said, one can adapt to anything.

Austin is happening for us (should be tied up in the next day or so, but looks pretty certain), so I sure hope so!  Mon - I really hope you beat me there!  Is this next interview the last one?  I won't tell you how many it took me (I'll just say, "Not fewer than 7").

FastFox (ponder no more), nice race!  x2 on getting a fit first.  I bought a used Cervelo P2C in that same range, but I dropped some coin on a couple fit sessions to figure which bikes (there were a couple that fit my simian body habitus - there's a reason, or two…, that my rugby nickname was Primate) to target on the used market.  Great approach, if you can make it work - I'm very happy with the outcome (hey, the bike - and wheels - were "new to me!").

As for throwing out bags of candy, that just doesn't register (even to a guy who is cleaning house with a cold hearted efficiency at the moment!).

Matt

Yesterday is was 96 degrees here in Raleigh.  When Monica started to talk about moving to Austin I looked and teh *average* high for over a month higher than that.  I thought about that when I was running yesterday.

I'm glad to hear that you are joining the Y.  I'm guessing that solves the "where to swim" problem ;-)  I work with someone local and don't have experience with online coaches (although we do almost everything by email anyway).  Sorry!

What did you decide on the wheels?  I have to say that I'm kinda surprised that you wore out the Mavic Ksyeriums.  I had over 20,000 miles on my Ksyeriums when I replaced them after an altercation with a truck. Even then, I think that the wheels may have been alright but insurance/crash replacement...

Had a good yoga session this morning. I don't do hot yoga, but geez I was dripping by the time corpse pose rolled around. Then I spent some time in the pool trying to focus on kicking from the hip. Nice bonus for swimming a few extra minutes is that J and a couple of his friends came in for some pool time  Double bonus for the day is that sitter is set for Friday night dinner (anniversary of 10 years of weddedness) AND Saturday morning ride. I know, I know...if the kids were a little older, I would have tied the two together and had sitter spend the night.
