fattyfatfat - 2010-04-08 9:41 AM wonderful.  a canadian that trains with a power tap.  here's how this conversation is gonna go.... canada blah blah blah be nice blah blah blah free stitches blah blah blah hit a moose on my bike last night blah blah blah... coupled with a conversation with tony about numbers per second per watt per hair on the a$$ per i just peed so not only is my frontal area reduced but i'm lighter hence faster per how good do i look in this kit.

;-)

I'm guessing this would be me...and don't worry, I stay away from the local moose population.

But yes, I like to geek out with numbers a little bit, so if other's have PT training knowhow to share, I'll be the sponge.  I rode my Tacx iMagic trainer with power the past couple of years and finally got the PT - had an iBike last year, but wasn't super happy with it.

Don't worry about John...He's just jealous that we can go skating and golfing outdoors on the day.
Welcome. Don't say you're a Leafs fan.

Actually I'm more a Flames fan since I grew up in Calgary - although they get to practise their golf game as well now.  The divisions just aren't fair.

Name: Ryan

Story: I blame everything on our fearless leader Steve, affectionately known as Birdy. He got me into this sport a few years ago, and now I can't quite get enough. My first year was a sprint, Olympic, half, and then IM Canada all in a few months. Now I've been concentrating on trying to get faster at the half distance (Boise and Lake Stevens last year, Victoria and Lake Stevens again this year).

My focus was on running during this past off season, but recently I've been trying to improve my swimming. I love biking, especially climbing... Birdy loves it when I drag him along on my hilly rides.

Although I don't post much, I try to follow along regularly. I enjoy the technical side of things (gadgets, wattage, training logs, etc.), and I'm always willing answer questions at ryan at fpasset dot com if you'd like to shoot me an email.

Can you help me to actually WANT to ride the drainer?  Those things are brutal on my mind.

Tacx iMagic Real Life Videos - seeing is believing.  I can't comment on the Computrainer, even though I know it's considered the gold standard for trainers, but the RLV's from Tacx are awesome (resistance on the trainer adapts to the slope of the road).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaskOFDexSw&feature=related

I actually do have a Tacx Imagic - picked it up on ebay for less then half the cost of a CT.  I have one the RLV's - San something or another to somewhere else   This winter when I rode the trainer (all of less then 10 times),  I pretty much just watched a movie on my computer and did some sort of intervals with the normal screen.

San Remo?  That's a great course, fairly easy for the first 20km, and then it kicks you a bit with some hills.

Not this winter (where I sat on my butt), but the previous winter I follwed Jorge's Winter Cycling program and set everything up in the software.  I found it to be perfect, and the videos kept my interest while avoiding some of the planned (painful) workouts.

Also, if it wasn't said, we post a lot.  If you miss a few pages, don't worry about it, if you want a recap ask, someone will fill you in.

Sam you want 700's.  I have a google agent for PT's, lol you just have to tell me when you want to spend the money.

DOES THIS MEAN that you will be joining Ultrahip00 (Mike), Ryanp100 (Ryan), kkcbelle (Kyla) for our Tuesday night trail runs at Cougar Mtn?  KYLA- what's your story?  You keep saying you are going to come?!

I AM ALL TALK/NO ACTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, Tuesday nights are really hard for me at least right now. Baseball for my son, hubby has been working until about 9pm every night (cry me a river), it's "long run day" on my training plan -- and I am as anal as they come when it comes to training plans (just check my Monday log for THAT sob story)... Keep sending those emails. I know I can't do this week as I'm going to an author reading/presentation of a friend who just had a book published (and is getting lots and lots of press, kinda exciting for her). Some week when the long run is on the shorter side I will figure it all out and make it up the mountain!!

Wow... Sorry we don't run long enough for you! Wink  If you need to run longer I can think of about 6 of us that trail run who would be happy to meet you earlier for a longer run!  We can even throw in a few thousand feet of elevation gain if you want! !

It's the elevation that scares me!! Rather than finding people to run longer (but it needs to be slow!), will you please find a sitter for my daughter and a driver for baseball? Oh, and Tuesday is game night, so someone to cheer on my son and tell him to wait for his pitch? And to steal second when the catcher drops the ball???!! Steve, soon enough you will have the kid factor seeping away your time. And then you will know that of which I speak. What if we did a 5am run instead??!! I know you get up early...

velcromom - 2010-04-08 11:52 AM okay, John, a small bit of hanging out in bars, too.  However, football is over - it's STANLEY CUP time!!

Goooooooooo  SHARKS!!!

I'll be at the game with my youngest tonight......calling the stairs training.

Ahhhhh... the Sharks. Back when I was a workin' stiff in the Bay Area I did a few corporate junkets at Sharks games. The most memorable was the night I got caught on the JumboTron dancing with Sharky (yes, alcohol was involved). Thank goodness that was long enough ago that there were not portable video recording devices in everyone's pocket, so there is no proof. And you know what they say: Pics or it didn't happen. So really, it didn't happen.

John can you get on this one please??

already got a call into them.

sometimes when opportunity comes calling i'll pull my gut outta my shirt squeeze it up (looks like an old mans face) and shake it around.  back a few years ago at a hornets playoff this hot chick sitting in front of me was on the jumbo tron dancing.  i pulled my gut out then and did it behind her.  crowd went nuts.  she was thinking it was for her.  i didn't pay for a single beer the rest of the night.

Thank you for all the inspires.  I am feeling much more fabulous  Smile  Although I think I did a little damage to my hip with that run so I'm off to sit on a bag of ice for a while.  Guess I'll change my nickname from Shark A** to Ice A**.

*Cough cough*  RYAN, I didn't notice you listing IMCA11 on your bio.  Didn't Birdy tell you you were taking his place and racing with me?!??!   Geez man.  There has to be some male MG representation at that race. Don't leave the spot open to our Canadian members - or worse yet, JOHN!!    You know what would happen, Rob would never make it swim time cut off once he's done playing "oops, my bad" with every woman in the water, John is bound and determined to break at least 2 more bikes by then, and Trevor would.......well, let's just say you need to represent.

ha ha ha.  No dear, not one of your bags. That would be an ice bath for me.  Maybe if I use this it won't hurt so much.

Let me in... PLEASE !!!   I'm a repeat if you'll have me.

Name:  Kelly Hoog                    Location: San Antonio, TX             Age: 39...and holding till Sept.

Kids: 2 Boys ages 11 and 14 (on Sunday) also referred to as Exhibit A and Exhibit B since parenting is truly the worlds biggest science experiment.

Dogs: Three,   Cocker: Freckles (crazy old lady)    Lab: Kona (or freak)   and Jojo the mutt  (he's the best).

Triathlon Experience:  Started in 2006-  Sprints to IM in 08.

Currently I'm not training due to various injuries but being part of the mentor group and chiming in once in a while makes me feel connected and like I haven't given up completely.

In the mean time I go to the gym and I'm hiking the local trails and going to yoga a lot which I think is helping build up all the weak muscles in my hip flexors, knees and ankles.  I'm also thinking about kick boxing too but that will have to be in front of my TV at home because I am VERY uncoordinated and shouldn't be allowed in public like that.

Please let me stay.
