Mine's sleeveless, which helps not constrict my shoulders and conveniently helps with making it easier to get out of.   After reading your description of how best to get out of it, I've run into problems because I wear my chip on the same side as my weak hip.  It's hard for me to pull my leg up against that much resistance.  Guess I'm going to have to do some more strength work (which I should do anyway; I just don't like it) or I'll be forever stuck with molasses-slow T1s.

Well that certainly helps with the first part! I have sleeveless as well (multiple suits). And for you especially, also note the part about the alignment. This is where people can miss and start stepping to the side a bit early to catch themselves. The forces will be directed to the side and the wetsuit will still grab hold very well. Since your range of motion is likely to be more limited, anticipate needing 3-4 steps to get that one off instead of 1-2. And learn the parts of the steps well first. The speed will come with time. Like getting the plant foot in very close to the other. Mine can bump at times. Less loose material, less stretching, more effective shedding. And get that foot into the ground solidly before pulling. Actually shift your weight into this side. Learn to drive that other leg up and hold it there. Not for strength, but to help with balance and the direction. I picked it up quick from years of other athletics. The basics were simple in concept, but there are a number of little things that go into throwing a very  effective move in soccer & basketball. Lots of practice broke down parts and we'd put them together. These are some of the bits that make this work more easily. You'll try to do them for every step, but especially so for the timing chip and feet. Take the split second to situate yourself better for the harder spots. It'll come more naturally over time. Speed comes with familiarity.

This info is really helpful!!  Thanks, Ben.  It gives me a really good sense of what I need to work on. I'm doing an OWS clinic this weekend, which will give me a good opportunity to practice this too.  I looked at the seam tape last night and still have room to trim, so I'll probably do a bit of that as well.

Oh, and if you want some Friday afternoon entertainment (or Saturday morning(?) for our southern hemisphere friends), my Steelman swim RR is up. I figured I'd better get it done before I race again this week!

Then I realize:

1) The people I work with are my family and husband

2) More often than I'd like, I'M the idiot!

Went to a good OWS clinic this morning.  I realized that (a) I suck at sighting/navigation, and (b) my goggles squash my eyes and prevent me from being able to see, hence the sighting problem.  This afternoon, I got this swim mask.  I may look like a bug, but at least I'll be a bug that's going in the right direction.

Oh, and the wetsuit advice helped a lot.  One quick tug with each leg and I got it off.  Yay!

Great job on the wetsuit removal Mary and the swim mask looks good too.
