Subject: RE: Fred D's triathlon training group CLOSEDFred D - 2012-05-24 10:07 AM Oh I agree, lots of good stuff is always going on.... just that I seem to be drawing some really effin' crazy people recently and I need to protect my sanity. Yeah...what's up with that? I don't know what it is about you Fred. You provide such good info, yet people like to come after you. Maybe you need to stop drafting on the bike. |

I don't normally get too pi$$y on the internets but I think when people who I deem to be valuable contributors feel compelled to back away because of idiots, well, I can't just sit on the sidelines. Yeah, thanks. He was just sort of the last straw for me and all I can do is back away for awhile. Decides lots of stuff to talk about here without the vitriol.
And you are like Dad to us Fred, and i am safe in assuming we are all pretty much better athletes because of the help and direction you have given us, and the time you dedicated to our little group.

Pro 4528![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Norwalk, Connecticut | Subject: RE: Fred D's triathlon training group CLOSEDAll right, so i know i am kinda sponsored by Kestrel Via Eleonore Rocks, and actually got picked for their Amateur Team, which i eventually turned down. But i have been having problems with the rear dropout on my 4000SL moving, it is 2 pieces and the drive side slides and pushes the rear wheel against the seat stay, it has been a total pain in the tush. So i decided to contact a guy named Steven Harad, who is the VP of sales or something, but he is up the ladder pretty far at Advanced Sports, i figured i would ask him if they have had that problem, as interweb searches showed nothing, and maybe just maybe there was a fix or something. I got am email back in 2 mins, and he is sending me a newly designed not on the market yet dropout kit to hopefully fix the stupid issue with an otherwise totally freaking awesome bike. I would say that is pretty good customer service and thought i would share. |

Subject: RE: Fred D's triathlon training group CLOSEDI love roadrunner sports. The only problem I had with them was when I ordered 2 boxes of shot bloks from them, and noticed that they were close dated. Ordered them in July and they expired in October...and they were already getting sticky. I kindly asked them what their normal policy is for sending out products (if they check when the expiration is...especially for a bulk order), and they offered to send me 2 more boxes at no extra charge. Funny enough, they sent me 2 more boxes that also expired in October...but at that point, I was satisfied with their effort to try and make things right. Other than that though, I have had awesome experiences with them. When I order something, it gets shipped out almost immediately. |

Expert 1260![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Norton Shores, MI | Subject: RE: Fred D's triathlon training group CLOSEDWell I am starting to go a little crazy here. I have not rode outside in like 4 weeks I believe! We have a 70% chance of storms tomorrow and I need to ride long and then run off the bike. I really do not want to have to do the ride indoors...hoping it holds off just long enough. I think Infinit guy had a few chardonnays before he posted that nice response from way out in left field

Congratulations James Rokowski. You have qualified for the 2012 USA Triathlon Olympic Distance National Championship after finishing in the top 10 percent in your age group at the Cascade Lake Triathlon & Duathlon. So there is a chance................
Nice job. Did they change it from top 33% in AG to 10%? If so, thats a step in the right direction. |

Master 4119![]() ![]() ![]() Toronto | Subject: RE: Fred D's triathlon training group CLOSEDAlright, I weenied out last night. After working much later than I intended I went home. I finished a book that I'd been flying through and made dinner and then it was getting late. My husband and I did a bit of calendar view of the summer and mapped out race weekends and such and decided on two tune-up races. We're doing an Olympic distance in mid-June and a half iron early in July. BUT! I redeemed my impromptu rest day but waking up this morning and biking outside! It was way warmer than I expected but a good ride. So i got about 25k done in just over an hour - which is good for this route with all the stops and hills Also I am VERY excited! We're going to see Chrissie Wellington tonight on her book tour stop!!!! Very excited! |

Master 2912![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ...at home in The ATL | Subject: RE: Fred D's triathlon training group CLOSEDFred - I hear you re: the degenerative tone of a lot of the main forum threads. You do seem to have a special talent in bringing out the "best" in folks sometimes - I don't blame you for taking a break. I have not been around BT for very long, but it did not take me very long to get burned on the main forums, so I just stay out of them mostly. I also agree that some of the retailers that work the site are a bit of a turnoff. I often wonder if the image they project is really the image their company prefers. There is one here on BT that I find strange enough that their participation is what keeps me from doing any business with their company no matter how good their deals might be. It is really too bad as I have to believe that my wife and I are pretty close to the pointy end of the stick relative to how much $$$ we spend on the endurance racing lifestyle. All that said, I do think there are lots of positive approaches that retailers and business people in the triathlon business can take relative to forums like BT, ST, etc. Emelio Desoto is the first that comes to mind... |

I got one of those a few weeks ago as well, but the first thing I thought was "yeah, right - why would I want to go all the way to Vermont to get my @ss handed to me...?" Ryan - unless I am mistaken it has always been top 10% in AG - it is only the "Special Qualifying/Regional Championship" races that take the top 33%. The special qualifier here in our region is St. Anthony's, for example. As I always seem to qualify each year, I agree with you completely - the qualifying requirements are obviously way too lax! |
