I think there is a Facebook page, but I cannot locate it. They are posting it here: https://www.facebook.com/IRONMANLakePlacid. You have to scroll down to an entry from July 3 and then open all of the comments. Each day they are posting the temperature and the time it was taken in the comments to that one entry. Yesterday it was 77 degrees at 11.00 a.m. Saturday it was 77 also.

Master 1460 Burlington, Vermont | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread There it is. Thanks! 75 today. I think it'll continue to cool to the lower 70s given the nighttime temps coming up. Personally, I'd rather have 77 without a wet suit than 75 with. Otherwise, let's get it down to 70. |

Jacket/sweatshirt in t2 and carry, in special needs? I've thought about this too but never got advice from others on the question. I'm not sure what "best practices" are out there. My "answer" to the question brought me to three ideas and I think you are on the right track. 1. Make sure to keep consuming calories. You have to do this anyway for the energy needed, but it is imperative if you are losing heat to the environment. 2. Put a dry shirt or jacket in T2 bag. You can decide not to use it but you cannot decide to use it if it is not there. 3. Put a dry shirt or jacket in special needs bag with a pair of lightweight gloves. |

I feel the same, BernardDogs. Last year was 74 and I fortunately elected to go sleeveless. Over that distance that is warm. I think a lot of folks underestimate the toll the heat takes on you at that distance. I don't think it is any surprise that 2011 (non-wetsuit legal) had the largest DNF rate in the history of the race. There were only about 300 of us (out of 2500) that elected to go without. From my experience the somewhat faster swim is not worth the toll it can take on you later in the day So add me to the Goldilocks list that want it either warmer or colder - I don't really care which! |

Master 1402 Cumming, Georgia | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread Originally posted by manfarr1974 Originally posted by littycm I have seen the question asked on tracking athletes but did not see the answer - I recall a couple of years ago being able to track a friend of mine throughout the course - perhaps that was a 3rd party? If so, does anyone know if that is being offered this year and how to get it set up? I thought there was somebasic tracking on Ironman.com as well? Thanks for any help... Chris Hey Chris, Ironman.com -> athlete tracker is the best way from what I heard with IMLP. The downside is sometimes the system crashes. In 2011 my family was in a panic because it didnt show my last two bike splits, so they werre wondering if I finished the bike. So far the third party stuff looses reception in the mountains from what I have read, maybe someone else knows more. Mandy Disclaimer: I am the developer. I wrote an application that will update Facebook/Twitter and send text messages/email as you cross the various timing mats on the course. If the athlete tracker at ironman.com goes down so will mine. If interested you can signup at www.racedaytracker.com. Also, if there is a list of current BT members and their bib number I can get a page up that will show everyone's splits all on the same page. |

Pro 5755 | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread Just wanted to send wishes for safe travels to all my BT buddies heading to LP this week. Wish I was going but priorities are what they are. Had a BBQ at my house Sunday for my friends doing LP and Zurich next weekend. 16 people, kind of impressive! If you run into anyone wearing a T3 Triathlon shirt or racing kit, tell them Brian said to buy you a beer |

Expert 908 Niskayuna, New York | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread I'm in a bit of a pickle and I was wondering if any BTers could help me out. I totally forgot to get a banquet ticket for the Friday dinner for my s/o, and when I went to check last night the registration had closed only a few hours earlier. I noticed it is a non-refundable ticket and thought there must be some unused ones floating around out there. Does anyone on this thread happen to have an extra unused banquet ticket? I am heading up to Lake Placid this afternoon and would gladly meet up and pay the $30. |

DoctorBob - if no one comes up with a ticket for you just get there a little early and you can buy one at the gate. We are headed for the airport in a couple of hours - safe travels to everyone! |

Regular 304 | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread We're here. All checked in. Arrived early in the afternoon to a 61 degree temperature and my wife promptly went out and bought a new fleece. We only packed shorts for the kids. It is supposed to be in the 70s for each of the next few days so I guess we'll be okay. Did a 45 minute ride today along the run course and then a short 20 minute jog. All is well in Lake Placid! Looking forward to seeing all of you Saturday morning for a meet up swim. |

It was fun watching how everybody's training has been going. I'll be up there tomorrow night, and will cheering you guys on from Run Aid station #2. I plan to be there all day and I'm sure I'll be handing everybody something. Is the annual BT swim happening on Saturday? Who's bringing BT tattoos? I'll be sure to put mine on correctly this time |
