Hi Grapejuice!

If you wear the Vibrams you gotta transition slowly.  Why did you choose them, just curious if you were having problems with regular runninng shoes? Be careful!

Linda

I run barefoot on the beach once every week or so and can comfortably manage 40mins without pain now, I started with 1-2 k and just added a few minutes every month.

I love the way you get into a nice smooth rhythm and it's great to close your eyes and listen to the surf but I always wear good running shoes for road/trail running. I think a bit of regular barefoot running strengthens your lower legs and feet and it adds a bit of variety.

REV3 athlete guide is up....

http://rev3tri.com/pdfs/knoxville/AthleteGuide/2011/Knoxville-raceProgram_Interactive.pdf

Looks like an Early Saturday Morning Swim practice only.  FAIL!  (IMO)

Who ended up where in the relay group????

We're lucky to have any formal swim practices. Lonestar didn't have one, Racine didn't have one and you already know IM WI doesn't have them anymore....my guess is you can plop yourself in the water at any time....that's what we did last year.

No whining...this is supposed to be FUN!

I can't remember when it was last year, they actually had a pro doing a clinic before it started.

If they do it at the same location as last year it should be helpful.  You got in and out at the swim finish so you could see how it worked to have to pull yourself up on the dock.  Not sure if they put in a ladder or anything this year but it was a bit awkward.

If anyone is interested I plan on riding the Oly course on Saturday sometime.

As far as the relay went they could never find someone to do the bike portion so Sam's just going to be kid entertaining.

I thought Sam was doing the bike and Fatty was doing the swim?  Auqabike?  Come on Sam!!!!

Hell no - I said I'd run!

I got another good workout in the morning -- actually starting to feel like a runner again.  I tried to slow my pace today like I did Thursday and again had no pain in my ankle.  I have a week to go until my first race this year.  While I probably won't be able to run all of it, I am feeling good and looking forward to it.  We're off to tour the hospital now, then on to the Taste of East Cobb for lunch and the Zac Brown Band tonight!

Hope everyone has a great weekend and good luck to everyone racing this weekend!

That's an awesome idea and one I've been planning on implementing once the weather gets just a little warmer. I live a mile from the coast so easy enough to do but most mornings at the time I'd be running it's still 30-50 which is too cold at least for me.

Went 90 minutes and 27+ miles today for my longest ride of the season. Feels good to be building.

Yes, David, those are great pics!  I am a sucker for the Aussie accent!

I had my first brick today and it felt great.  Tomorrow is a rest day, thankfully, because tonight we are having both Mom's and all of the siblings, nephews, etc, over for Mother's Day eve dinner tonite.  Wish us luck...house is clean, thank goodness.  Or it was when I left this morning!  Kathy has grilling duties today...all I have to do is show up after work and start all of the veggies.

Wishing all of the Mom's a very HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!!

We had 7000 runners at the running festival today, the biggest yet. I ran a 1:43 at the Frederick Half and came in 5th in my division of 292 runners. I had fun, ran fast, and am looking forward to eating a nice dinner : )

Great job on the ride, Rachel! Like Kim said, it's always nice to be done with those.

Enjoy tonight's dinner, Kim! We are going on a double date to a local bistro. Looking forward to a nice slab o' fish!

congrats!   you actually placed third by gun time but the 3rd and 4th women in your a/g had a faster chip time.

still it might be worth an email to the rd verifying he/she used chip time even thought usatf rules state gun time

I'm still a cycling novice but the few long rides I've done have all felt like this! I drag myself into the house and just want to eat and lie down. Unfortunately I normally get in just as we're all due to go out on some family trip/shopping/surf club thing etc etc....

Great run Linda, the triathlon seasons finished here now so I've entered a half marathon in July, my aim is to get under 1:50, I think it'll take a lot of training to get anywhere near your time! My previous best is 1:55.

My 9 year old wrote this poem for my wife for Mother's Day:

"Roses are red, violets are blue

And that's absolutely true

Who could be better than you?

You are so awesome so I'm stuck to you like glue!

Mum, you are so smart like Einstein

When I see you, you shine

Mum you are so sweet as a flower

You have GIRL POWER!

Mum, you are like a Summer plum

You are my loving caring mum

You're as lite as a feather

You're the BEST MUM EVER!!!"

My wife particularly liked the lite as a feather lineLaughing

David that is the sweetest poem, the best gift a mom could receive.

My dinner tonight was salmon, zuchinni, and rice that I brought home in a box for tomorrow since I had the salad bar too. That was all I could handle, especially after the race. Gotta love the omega 3's!

Please don't take this the wrong way, but WHY?  Doesn't really seem right in my opinion?  Just wanted to get yours on why it was ok to run as a bandit.

Being from the Boston area the  bandit runners used to be a lot more common and were actually celebrated to a degree. The marathon to most people around here is a big party. People do the Faneuil Hall marathon which is to have a drink at 26 bars all in Faneuil Hall or the adjacent streets.

I get why people would look at it like WTF but the requirement for Boston coupled with the limited field and the history of Bandits makes it OK to most people around here at least.

not a RACE, but had an AWESOME "training" run.   I know I have more room to grow, and this time around I seriously learned how to pace myself instead of worrying so much about my pace time and distance.  Hope that make sense.  Didn't push it at all and had enough left in my tank to want to run the course again.   I stopped only twice, and that's HUGE for me.   Time is not 100% in yet.

But enjoy my RR though.  http://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=251233

Fatty's comment - I was reading on a little about gun time vs. chip time.  I find that unfair for the RD to have people win by gun times instead of chip times.    What if there was 300 racers, and I'm pretty much MOP or even BOP, and I beat someone in my age group by 10 minutes by chip time, but she beat me 2 minutes gun time because I was in the back.   Does that mean if you want to be counted WELL and want to be the top 3 in AG, you have to go in the front to avoid the gap between gun time and chip times?

David--great poem!!!

Linda--once again you're the bomb!

Rachel--here's to 66m next!!!

Andre--for you, I wore my compression socks on the bike to see if I thought they made a difference.  I have been having some tightness as well. My calves/feet feel pretty good tonight.  Was it the socks?  Who knows?!?!?  The rest of me is shot.  It was a long day....only one more to go and we can put this week to bed!
