Hoping the wind is only present on training days and race day will be just a light breeze, just enough to keep you cool on the run.  Think how much tougher the wind is making you!

Wow, that's quite the day!!  Great work.  Sorry about your legs and tailbone though.  I can't help on the latter...

I feel like a cheater. I have been enjoying the road group rides a little too much lately. Still coming off a high from last nights ride. Now I'm sitting at my desk looking at road bikes online. My road bike doesn't really fit me.

I need to go swim or run to feel like a triathlete again

You are super tough for tackling DW in our summer weather!  I think we are even hotter than our normal June, so you get bonus tough points!

It hasn't been too bad as they planned a lot of attractions indoors so it's just walking from point A to point B then getting water.  We did wilt for a bit yesterday, the frozen drinks outside of the test track ride fixed that.

Downstairs in the Contemporary Resort is the Wave Bar. They have some nice craft brews and wine on tap. It helps relieve the wilting feeling. Or, head back to the resort and float in that lazy river in the heat of the afternoon. Then, back to the park!

Guess everybody's making up for the quietness yesterday.

Kirsten - Good thing you're getting a feel for the course now.  Hopefully the wind will settle down and you can just count your work now as additional resistance training.

Judy - Manatees?  Geckos?  Now all we need are pictures of monkeys and we'll be all set.  So glad you're having fun and getting to play.  You richly deserve it!

Jen - Butt soreness sucks!  Is it possible that something got knocked out of whack with your seat so your position is different?  Maybe a trip to the LBS is in order for a tweak.  In the meantime, take it easy to let the hip flexors and quads settle down.  Maybe a massage or some foam roller time is in order?

Jonathan - You slacker, you.  Seriously?  And I'm sure you have enough bikes already.  You've got a race coming up in 3 months so you better get crackin', buster!    In all seriousness, it's great that you've been enjoying your rides.  IMO, there's absolutely nothing wrong with goofing off for a little while after all the hard work you did for IMTX, especially if your next race isn't for 3 months.

As for me, today was Bike to Work Day.  Pretty cool to see all the bikes on the street and to be part of a mini-peloton riding to work.  The only negative was seeing DH get clipped on the shoulder by an idiot driver's rear view mirror.  Pretty dang scary (I was right behind him) and the jerk didn't even stop to see if he was okay!!  Fortunately, he wasn't phased, didn't crash, and says he probably won't even have a bruise.  He noted that it was probably more traumatic for me than it was for him.  I think he's right.  There've been quite a number of hit and runs around here, both of pedestrians and cyclists, which scares the heck out of me.  It won't keep me from riding on the streets but it really ticks me off.

People are dicks in cars.
I'm lucky enough to live in the cycling capital of the UK and most of the drivers are pretty well prepared for bikes here.
On which note, just got out on my bike again and was not comfortable. My right knee seems to be in pain when putting any power through it, and over the last couple of weeks when I sit at my desk for too long i find that it often "locks" when i'm taking first few steps after getting up. I think this is stemming from a dive playing cricket (I play cricket, it is one of my ultimate passions in life) and landing awkwardly, but think a trip to the Drs. is in order.

Halloooooooo my favourite internet people!

Man, I miss one lousy day and look what you all have gotten up to.

Emily - in the mantra of the Manatees... DOOOOOOOOO EEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!  You've already got the swim & run distances down - you GOT this!

Stacey - REALLY glad to hear the knee is healing up and nothing showed on the images, take it easy and get better!

Jonathan - it's okay to cheat on tris, we've all done it at some point, and we know you'll be back.     Besides, the correct number of bikes to have is always n+1

Judi - YAY for Disney!!!  Tony and I will be making the trip to Orlando hopefully next March to check it out... and I want to go to Universal for the Harry Potter stuff.  Yep, I'm that much of a geek an I don't care!

Salty - we already found Barton Springs Pool!  It's kept at a constant temp of 70*F year round... can't WAIT!  And yes, we're making sure to get a big enough place to be able to have all of our freeloader visiting friends come and stay.

I was down for the count yesterday with my cold turning into a nasty sinus infection and now I've got antibiotics for it.  I'm also kind of freaking out that a week from tomorrow will be my last day of work.  EEEEEK!   Oh, and we bought a car.     This one...

I just checked the hours at the park, it's open until 1:00 am. Were I you, I'd go back to the room for a nap in the heat of the day. But I am old and Grumpy too

Denver has lots of cyclists in general and good bike paths and lanes.  DH was riding in a sharrow (shared bike/car lane) so this dolt had no business being as close as he was.  It wasn't even like there was anybody in the next lane over.  All's well that ends well, though, so I'll stop griping about it.

Good that you're going to see the Dr.  Two weeks of that is more than enough to justify a visit.  Hope it's nothing serious.

So cool that you have such a great place for swimming.  Sounds like you and Austin are going to be a wonderful fit!  So sorry to hear that your sinuses are being obnoxious and glad that you got some meds.  Feel better soon.  And that car is keeeeeewwwlll!  Put a bike rack on that puppy and there'll be no stopping you!  have you named it yet?  When are you moving?

Just so you know, if only one of either you or Tony are racing, you can fit a bike in here.  The local pro which I've mentioned a few times just got one of these and I asked him how he transports his bike.  He replied he takes both wheels off and he and his dad (and presumably luggage) all fit!  They are such cute cars, congrats!  Or as Stevey sez, Conga rats!

Lol - the bike rack was ordered yesterday morning and will be installed by next Monday for us to pick up the new beast!  Sadly, no name yet - I think I have to drive it for a bit first, but I'm open to suggestions!!

It's hard for me to believe, but we'll be driving to Austin starting July 4th which is coming up WAAAAAY too quickly!

Hahaha!!  You're not the first person to ask!!  Yes, he fits, and he only needs a little booster seat to see over the steering wheel.

What's s-1?  I'm starting to become indoctrinated myself.  Getting the new roadie tomorrow and I'm already thinking about either buying a hybrid or finding some wider tires for the roadie so I can ride on dirt trails as well as paved.  I'll probably go with the wider tires for starters; they're a little cheaper.  On the other hand, DH finally decided to sell his tri bike (which hasn't been used since 2007) so there's more room for me to get another.

Ha!  The first time we test drove one, we actually brought it home to make sure a bike could fit inside.  Tony didn't believe me, but I actually fit mine in with both wheels on and just turning the front wheel up.

 WHEEEEEEEE!!

The S represents the number is the number at which your significant other would leave you over the number of bikes you have.  Ergo, at S-1, you're safe!

Ooohhh, new car!!!! It is so cute and pretty!!!

. How is 70* a good temperature for a pool??? I would be freezing and doubt I'd get in the outdoor pool I swim in is kept at a constant 82! Except during the summer when for some reason they don't like using the aerator and it gets hotter!!!!

This is in addition to the new bike that you've been coveting, right?  And it holds two bikes so you are good.  Tony, however, might need to find alternate means of transporting his bike :-)  Congratulations!
