I'm probably travelling solo and, as we get closer, would be willing to think about splitting a place. But in full disclosure, I can snore louder than any of you. Ask Fred. [smack on] Fred is too busy trying to figure out why his CompuTrainer stats aren’t as high as mine. [/smack off] Ha - that was funny. |

(and yes I know that watts/Cda is what really would be the question, but it's trickier to figure out) My Cousin (Joe Liberto) did a 2:10 at last years race. I'm not sure what is power rate is but I know he's pretty dang fast (well compared to me atleast) |

Not sure Fred - off the top of my head maybe 3.4-3.8 depending on how aero your setup is...just a guess though. At Timberman I had a 3.3 avg and went 2:27 but that course is much hillier than Eagleman. I had an aero bike, wheels, helmet, etc but was not set up that aggressively. Speaking of training... when do you guys really start focusing for this? I'm starting to build my base of running back in and throw some swims and bikes in now and then. But what are you guys doing this off season? |

I'm starting to build my base of running back in and throw some swims and bikes in now and then. But what are you guys doing this off season? No really off season for me, other than not racing if that's what you mean. I am focused on Bike and Run. Bike to build power over time and distance. Run to get faster with endurance and overall fitness. |

Master 1420 Reston, VA | Subject: RE: EagleMan Ironman 70.3 Triathlon : Official Thread No real off season for me either - I enjoy training and don't feel like I mentally need one. I did take a few weeks in October to let my body heal up. Right now I am working on increasing my running fitness and durability and doing short but hard sessions on the trainer. I swim when I want to. |

Speaking of training... when do you guys really start focusing for this? I'm starting to build my base of running back in and throw some swims and bikes in now and then. But what are you guys doing this off season? My off-season was pretty much at the end of the summer as I was recovering from some health issues. Since October I raced cyclo-cross season which mainly had me doing hard biking for 10-12 weeks. At the same time I've done some running but nothing crazy. As of Dec 1st I began focusing on 1) increasing cycling power and 2) run lots, intensity is not important for now, just running every day! I will focus on those two for the next 10 weeks. Also I am doing some specific strenght training (some drills, hills, plyos and core) and PT to recover from a shoulder injury. I am hoping I can get back in the Pool no later than March 1st and get in 'decent' swim shape for Eman. Also as Of March I begin specific training for Eman and IMLP. |

Master 1524 Reston, VA | Subject: RE: EagleMan Ironman 70.3 Triathlon : Official Thread ...as an fyi, hotels nearby are going to be very hard to come by if you are booking now. most places in cambridge fill within a week of registeration. however, i happened to be in the lobby of the holiday inn express in cambridge last year the year before the race, and watched people just walk in and ask for a room and get one. my advice is to book something as close as you can now (will likely be delaware) and then starting two weeks out from the race start calling places closer...or just walk in the day before and ask. they get lots of last minute cancellations. |

I knew it took old guys longer to warm up for bike rides, but I didn't think it was THAT bad that you had to start in Dec. 1. I thought Rick(Daremo) was the oldest one out here well other then The Bear obviously. |

I'm fairly familiar with the course (I went to school on the Eastern Shore of MD). I recently got aero bars for Christmas and plan to add those to the bike this spring. Do you guys think its worth it time wise to rent aero wheels for the race?
I'm going to really just complete the race as a goal and I'm sure I'll have a time estimate later in the season. |
