I'm slowly approaching my stupid quota today as well.....

Guy reports that while leaving the campus, the security gate came down and struck his vehicle. shattering his windshield (I saw window and it was damaged).
Tell him to write me a statement
While he's doing that, I pull security camera footage.
Totally opposite of what he says happened. He tried to speed thru it and it struck the bed of his truck, not the window.
Tell him that I saw the video and asked him again what happened and to describe in detail again. Sticks with his story.
Said that he stopped and the gate opened and as he went thru it came down...
Tell him video doesn't show that and proceed to show him the video.
He called me and the video a liar and when I told him he was terminated for lying, he said his lawyer will be calling me....then he tried to fight my safety manager in the parking lot (also caught on camera).

Well, for sure, there has been a transition.  From flirty, naughty, pushing the limits to sort of...  just existing (TAN)

COJ seems to have lost a lot of it's fun and levity as well.  What's aggravating, is there are just a couple that want to argue EVERYTHING.  They must take joy in playing devil's advocate on every single topic.  Instead of just leaving it alone if you don't agree, they just feel they HAVE to be advesarial.

Everyone has gotten so frigging sensitive and defensive. I posted something on irondistance and t got jumped all over me for expressing an opinion Well why did you ask the question if you already knew what you were going to do and had your mind made up? Yeah I am sure that extra 20oz bottle of fluid is going to completely ruin your bike time because its SOOOOOOOO heavy. and you are at your ideal body wieght too. geez o pete. I know some long time BTers who have completely pulled off the forums because of people jumping all over them about stupid stuff.

Yes this is exactly it and what Socks said. It's not fun anymore, everything is analyzed to the death, picked apart, berated, told you're wrong/doing it wrong/stupid/dumb/don't get it... the list goes on. Sadly it's only a handful of people who have to be right 100% of the time. That's no fun in any situation. Seeing that we CHOOSE to be here it's not hard to see why people drop off.

Even yesterday I tried to revive the BT Girls thread (that used to be fun?) and not one comment. I'm not fishing for compliments but just another example of how things have changed.

Know what's crazy?  A TAN would could be done as fast as a week.  This one was started OVER TWO MONTHS AGO and still has 20 pages to go!

We should just move on to the next one anyway.  I mean, how long ago did Yanti even attempt IMJAPAN?

It's true, I'm a cheater, a morally corrupt person, and a waste of human space.  Or is it that I'm taking up too much space?  Either way, I suck at life.

COMPLETELY agree with what both Jim and Sue said.  CoJ used to be the place for fun, frivolity, and some just plain silliness.  I'm almost afraid to post anything anymore (and I refuse to go into the Political Joe section) for fear that I'm just going to get berated and put down.

I don't miss this at all.  There was plenty of dialogue that didn't involve this stuff at one point.  There are just so few people in here now we can't keep it afloat I guess.

Lurking is a creepy word. Makes me think about finding someone creeping by my living room window.

Fair enough.  I just liked it when we mixed in with all the routine work rants or IM: fake vs real jokes with some fun banter, silly euphemisms, and good natured teasing.  I guess the whips and chains jokes got old too though.

TAN used to be a bit of an escape for me where we could push the limits.  Shoot, used to have them yanked once in a while.

I guess safe can be fun.....  ish...

Lisa - I guess I don't look at much in COJ anymore because I was always wrong anyway if I posted anything.  I started a COJ thread for the Chicago Marathon people, and I think there were 4 total posts.  I will have to go check the BT Girls thread, as I must have missed it also.

Something to note is that the offseason is approaching, so fewer people may be going to the site because of this, which would result in less people going to CoJ, possibly.

usually the site is busier in the offseason...in the spring it starts to slow down a lot....who knows, i'm not a real runner or a triathlete according to TT

Look: I know I've pushed boundaries here. All in jest and I figured that was understood. Seriously though: I enjoy the banter and joking here and don't understand the desire to just leave. Carry on your own thread or topic and let that bubble to the top. If I've driven anyone away. It wasn't intentional or intend.

MORNING TAN!!!!  Everyone awake and ready for another great day at WORK!!!  I know, shut up until I get my gallon of coffee in me.

It is time for me to change my tired lazy azz ways.   Good morning and have a great day.  Smile at someone you don't know and pass that along today.  See someone that looks as tired as you feel.  Smile and joke with them and perk them up.  That is my goal for today and hopefully tomorrow.  I have kinda been stuck in the EEYORE mind set and need to get out of it.

Morning!

Enjoy the coffee and have a great day yourself!  I had to laugh, there was a lady in the elevator this morning who either thought she had already pressed the button to get off on the 21st floor, or assumed the elevator could read her mind and would just stop and let her off where she wanted.  We get to the 26th floor and she looks around after realizing that we didn't stop at 21 saying "well, I guess THIS is the start to yet another craptastic day".   Poor thing, all discombobulated from something so small as not getting to your floor right away.
