Never really had this happen before. sorry you got the stitch, but good that you got back to racing! I know You say the first 5k was at a comfortable pace, but it’s pissible it was too fast for your current condition ( im assuming the lack of racing also = a low volume of running!). That could be the answer and one I was hoping it not to be! |

Our realtor suggested getting a few security cameras for inside the house just in case. We had a few showings yesterday and four more today. So today we watched the showings through the security camera and we soon figured out what they meant by watch cat yesterday. Our cat Caesar is following the prospective buyers around the house and meowing at them. I don't know if I should be embarrassed or proud of our watch cat. That is funny! I know 1 would hide and the other would act all cute and want to be pet, and then turn around and bite them. LOL Lilo is being the typical Siamese and hiding in the closet. She's getting on a shelf thinking the hanging clothes are hiding her. However, you can see her blue eyes peeking through the bottom of my shirts, haha! Caesar is your second cat- acts all cute but will then bite. However, he has been very good so far and just asked for head scratches. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() No racing, unless running around trying to get some semblance of American life going again, and refereeing a 3-way cat fight, counts! Just proof of life here. Back in Idaho after a LONG flight across the Pacific last Friday with two cats in cargo and then some very unwelcome rental car drama in Seattle. We'd reserved a van to drive my cats and stuff back to Boise on Saturday to avoid a long layover with the cats and give humans and felines a chance to rest up after the long flight, but when we got to Seattle, they would not rent us the van as we did not have credit cards, only debit. Nothing about that on the website, or when I booked the van with the debit card! We spent almost four hours trying every rental company at Sea Tac with no success and finally ended up getting two cabs to the suburban hotel we'd booked. I e-mailed a friend of my mother's who lives about 90 minutes from Seattle asking if they could pick us up Saturday and help us organize onward transport, but she ignored us--later found out her son told her we were a scam! The only person I know in Seattle itself was out of town for the week. Finally I managed to book a small U-haul truck, but we had to get another taxi to a town 20 miles away to pick it up and couldn't get it until evening. So we ended up spending an extra day in the Seattle area before driving back to Boise with two unhappy cats jammed into the larger one's carrier, wedged into the cab of the U-haul. The little one screamed most of the way. Arrrrgh! Now just trying to get on top of things and figure out training. I did join a gym very close to our house with a pretty uncrowded pool and warmer water than the Boise Y, (an enormous pool in a cavernous, drafty building where I was finishing every swim close to hypothermia last winter), got a cell phone with GPS, checked out some of the numerous trails that begin in the foothills about 15 minutes from our house, replaced some very worn-out running shorts and swimsuits, and got my bike put back together. Haven't gotten much further than that. Hoping to get in a longer run and ride this weekend to get my bearings a bit. My next race, unless something local and compelling comes up, will be IM Calgary 70.3 at the end of July. Edited by Hot Runner 2018-06-22 8:25 PM |

Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Apparently not my day today. This was supposed to be my A race for the year as I used this to fundraise money for the GBS/CIDP Foundation. Fundraising went well and I actually raised over 2k which is more than double my goal. Everything else not so well. I check my yesterday evening as I've had a flat last week just to make sure everything was looking good. All good. Full pressure no problem. This morning I get up and flat rear, wth. I changed tube and the actual tire as I wanted to rule out the tire at this point (even though I couldn't find anything). All good. Air was holding. Left for the race. Got there fairly early with about an hour to setup transition. Kept checking the tire to make sure it didn't have any more issues. All good. Off to the swim. Due to competing in the PC category they let us (PC's) go first which was really nice as it is a pool swim and it usually takes forever to get in the water. With the Texas heat right now the earlier the better. Swim went ok. Had a hard time with breathing (had that all week, think it's allergies related and I haven't really swam all that much lately either), but made it through ok. Went into transition and grabbed bike. Didn't check tire at this point, but noticed real quick after mounting that it was flat. Had some friends there cheering me on so with a lot of emotional support I changed the tire. Noticed this time that the lining in the rim might have an issue. Changed the tube and tried to solve the lining issue with some paper. Pumped up and finally left on the ride. At around 1.5 miles, big popping noise and I knew I was done. Went back to transition turned in my chip and called it a day. Very frustrating. Need to take the bike to the shop and see what's going on, definitely wasn't the greatest day for this to happen, but need to suck it up and move on. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Looks like I'm going to be living in a hotel room again. I was hoping for a detail on the east coast so I could be closer to more manatees. Instead I'll be hanging out in Madison, WI for a few months |
![]() ![]() |
Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I guess this is one of those "when it rains it pours" kind of weeks for the Manatees! For me, my rest day (yesterday) went down like this: 1. Husband, whose boss missed the cut in Connecticut, drove home 17 hours. 6 miles from home, he stopped to get some fuel, added 8 gallons to the 1/4 tank he had left, and drove home. Woke up this morning and realized he put unleaded gasoline in the diesel engine. Cha-ching! Then, I called our roadside assistance for a tow. They asked why it wouldn't start/run, and I was honest. But no...they can't tow the Sprinter van now because it was caused by a personal choice. More cha-ching. 2. Husband cleaning out the RV van because the tow truck is on the way and it throwing clothes in the washer, which then throws some random code and won't work. I now have a load of sudsy clothes in the washer. 3. Swam 2500 yards and really struggled with hitting my requred pace (more on this later). 4. Came home ravenous and turned on the oven to throw a pizza in the oven. Heard a 'pop' then a 'crackle.' The oven door then locks closed and it throws an F1 code which reveals that the circuit board just took a crap. So...probably $2500-3000 total on the RV, a few hundred to fix the washing machine, and a new stove. I had my eye on a new Quintana Roo PRfive with Di2 and race wheels. On a positive note, I ALWAYS struggle hitting my t-pace at this particular pool. The pool staff swears it's 25yards. I walked it off after my swim, and I swear it's 25 meters. If that's the case, then I hit ALL pace targets during my swim, so +1. |
